History: (Aero#4/2 (fb) /
Aero#5/2) - An employee of Alontech, a corporation secretly controlled by the mer-creatures known as the Sirenas,
Celia was subjected to mutagenic experiments and became Alontech's first
super-soldier. Outfitted with high-tech weaponry and super powers, she
became the Sea Hunter.
While exploring the Sulu Sea, she
encountered the Sirenas, who she had previously believed to be a myth,
and soon fell in love with one of them, Carina. Carina chose the human
over her Sirena lover, Reyna Sirena, who was queen of the Sirenas and
the master of Alontech. The two of them, and Carina's family (and
allies), were cast out from the Sirenas. The Reyna Sirena and her people
were subsequently attacked by their ancient enemies, the Atlanteans,
leading Reyna to swear vengeance against the Sea Hunter.
(Aero#3/2) - After Aero and Wave attacked an Alontech facility in the Western Visayas, they escaped, pursued by Alontech Seawolf drones. The Sea Hunter snagged both heroines with a net and dragged them to shore, accusing them of being sloppy in letting themselves be followed. They protested that it was part of their strategy, but in moments they were under attack by the Seawolves.
(Aero#4/2)
- Sea Hunter took down a Seawolf, but a stray shot knocked her out;
Carina and the Sirenas rescued her while Aero and Wave handled the rest
of the drones. Sea Hunter then led Wave and Aero to the undersea city
of the Sirenas allied with Carina, where she explained her origins and
this Sirenas faction's enmity with Alontech. They teamed up to defeat
the sinister corporation, but soon the settlement found itself under
siege by Alontech's aquatic hybrid monsters.
(Aero#5/2) - Sea Hunter joined Wave, Aero, and the Sirenas
in fending off the hybrid creatures, even saving Aero from one despite
the Chinese heroine's distrust of her. When Reyna Sirena arrived, Sea
Hunter battled her one-on-one and was defeated. Sea Hunter, Aero, and
Wave were imprisoned in an Alontech
underwater base.
(Aero#6/2) - Aero used her powers to break her and Sea
Hunter out of their cells. Escaping, Sea Hunter took on Reyna Sirena
again; once again, she found herself at the mermaid's mercy, but Aero
knocked the villain away and freed Wave. The trio escaped the facility
before it was destroyed, and Celia was reunited with Carina.
(Atlantis Attacks#2) - With Namor and Atlantis threatening
the gestalt city of Pan, its creator Mike Nguyen enlisted the aid of Sea
Hunter and the Sirenas. They confronted the Agents of Atlas at the
shore.
(Atlantis Attacks#3) - Sea Hunter and the Sirenas attacked
Namor, who was battling Atlas Agents Wave and Brawn. They took him
captive, but Sea Hunter told them to prepare for more attacks from the
Atlanteans. While she and Nguyen proposed attacking Atlantis, original
Atlas Agents Namora, Venus, and Jimmy Woo emerged from the waves,
demanding they hold off. After a debate about the virtues of an attack
on the Atlantean dragon Kala Teer/Kalak/Tier, Nguyen's agent, the
Protector, froze the dissenting Agents in time, allowing Sea Hunter, the
Sirenas, and Wave to head off towards Atlantis.
(Atlantis Attacks#4) - En route to Atlantis, Wave wanted
to avoid conflict with the Atlanteans, but Sea Hunter insisted that it
was inevitable. However, when Wave subdued Kala Teer, she was hailed as
a hero by the residents of Atlantis, much to Sea Hunter's surprise.
Comments: Created by Greg Pak, Alyssa Wong, and Pop Mhan.
Sea Hunter does not appear in Atlantis
Attacks#5, in which we find out that the Atlanteans and Sirenas have
signed a non-aggression pact. Presumably she was off-panel.
Atlantis Attacks' last issues were seriously delayed by the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
Sea Hunter joins a small fraternity of superheroes from the Philippines, including Wave, the heroes of the Triumph Division, and the mutant Galura.
Unfortunately, it's hard to gauge Sea Hunter's physical dimensions, as she hasn't been seen outside her bulky armor.
