though dancing, using acrobatic evasions, leverage, throws and joint
manipulation against physically stronger opponents. He is a highly

languages and is an experienced pilot of his interstellar yacht. He
claimed he could "magic" his way through a black hole to exchange alien
currency, though he did not demonstrate whether this was a personal
ability or involved other means. His equipment has included an ornate
mask and costume and a large, luxuriously appointed space yacht; he also
arranged access to a retractable overhead line for one escape.

History:
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - Theft was the only profession the man
called Nicolás had ever known. Working under the codename Scoundrel, he
accepted jobs from the highest bidder, always working alone and making
it a point to avoid being noticed by the various vigilantes and super
heroes he encountered during his assignments.
(She-Hulk V#15 (fb) - BTS) - The Scoundrel mastered four languages.
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - At an unrevealed point in time, Scoundrel
seduced a witch who granted him invulnerability and numerous other magic
abilities (see comments).
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Scoundrel stole a space
yacht and everything aboard it, then made the vessel his home.
(She-Hulk V#13 (fb) - BTS) - The Scoundrel was listed 38th on the
government's public enemy list (see comments).
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - Scoundrel was hired by the interdimensional
warlord Drapurg to steal high tech components for a massive explosive he
planned to set off in Manhattan. Because he did not particularly care
about the city, Nicolás accepted the assignment.
(She-Hulk V#11) -
Scoundrel penetrated a high-security government laboratory protected by
the Marines and the Fantastic Four and removed one of the components for
Drapurg's bomb. She-Hulk intercepted him as he prepared to leave.
Scoundrel warmly greeted her and welcomed the challenge of fighting the
heroine. He treated their fight like a dance, flirting while he evaded
her attacks, turned her momentum against her and even throwing her
despite her superior size. She-Hulk tore off his mask, but that didn't
faze him at all. Scoundrel caught her next charge, hurled her through
the sixth-story exterior wall and escaped with the component before she
learned his name.
(She-Hulk V#12) - Scoundrel stole another glowing cylindrical component
from a guarded government installation and emerged with security dogs
and helicopters in pursuit. Finding She-Hulk waiting outside, he removed
his mask and admitted that he had hoped to see her, but refused to
surrender the device and instead invited her to another "dance." He
traded throws and blows with her while claiming a witch's magic had made
him both immensely powerful and invulnerable. She-Hulk promised to
discover a weakness, while Scoundrel expressed the hope that she had
more evenings free. Mister Fantastic then extended a remote mechanical
arm into the fight and plucked away the stolen component. Scoundrel
cursed the interference, bade "green eyes" farewell and escaped before
Reed Richards arrived in person.
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - After their second fight, Scoundrel
realized he was starting to fall for She-Hulk.
(She-Hulk V#13) -
Wearing a suit and using no disguise, Scoundrel came to Book Law to see
Jennifer Walters. She spotted him from inside and followed him to
Central Park where he introduced himself as Nicolás. He persuaded her to
accept a brief time-out in which neither would punch, lie or spring a
hidden plan. Jennifer still felt she should just arrest him, since he
was Public Enemy No. 38, but Nicolás insisted that he was merely a
thief, not a spy, terrorist or nationalist. He told her his current job
was almost complete and that, once it ended, he would have no
professional excuse to seek her out. Arguing that life was short and a
genuine connection rare, he proposed that they explore their mutual
attraction away from their fights. When Jennifer ended the truce and
moved to hit him, Nicolás caught an overhead escape line and swung out
of reach.
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - By the time he next contacted Jennifer,
Scoundrel had completed his work for Drapurg and received payment in the
alien's native currency. Converting it into something useful required
him to magically make his way through a black hole.
(She-Hulk V#14 (fb) - BTS) - On the eve of Drapurg's invasion, Scoundrel
decided he wanted to keep She-Hulk safe. He boarded his space yacht and
set course for her apartment.
(She-Hulk V#14) - Scoundrel telephoned Jennifer, told her that he had
stopped stealing and asked her for another dance. He arrived outside her
building in his hovering space yacht and invited her aboard, making her
the first guest in his home. Over cheese and wine from his hometown and
other snacks, Nicolás answered Jennifer's questions about his life and
invited her to dance. He claimed that what he had stolen from the witch
who empowered him was her heart.
Nicolás and Jennifer nearly kissed, but she reminded him that she had a
boyfriend and demanded to know how a romance could coexist with her
duties while he stole bomb components. Nicolás identified Drapurg as the
party who had commissioned the thefts. He then revealed that Drapurg
intended to destroy Manhattan that night and that he had taken Jennifer
out of the city specifically to save her. Nicolás admitted he neither
liked New York nor cared what happened to its other inhabitants.
Enraged, She-Hulk punched him through a wall aboard the yacht.
(She-Hulk V#15) -
Scoundrel recovered from She-Hulk's punch and continued to withstand her
headbutts and kicks, boasting that he was a magically fortified,
one-of-a-kind super-thief who spoke four languages. He tried to prevent
Jennifer from calling for help and blocked her telephone after she
reached Jack of Hearts' voicemail, arguing that revealing a client's
plans would destroy his business. He refused to land and intended to
take his yacht beyond Manhattan's airspace. Nicolás explained that
Drapurg, "He of the Horde," would first use an interstellar army to
occupy the city's superhuman defenders and then detonate the assembled
bomb in Central Park's fountain. He had not asked Drapurg's motive,
considering personal questions bad business. When Jennifer protested
that he would sacrifice millions, Nicolás admitted that he cared only
about her and asked her to leave the city with him. Jennifer appeared to
soften, touched Nicolás' face and agreed it was time to go, then used
the distraction to wind the unbreakable Bulkhustler's cable around his
wrists. She forced his bound arms behind his back and slammed him
face-first to the floor, proving that his invulnerability did not
prevent restraint. After wishing that his yacht would crash into a
mountain, She-Hulk smashed through its hull and leapt toward Manhattan
to stop Drapurg. Nicolás called after her for another time-out, but
received no answer.
(She-Hulk V#15 - BTS) - By the time She-Hulk, with some assistance from
her boyfriend Jack of Hearts, had defused Drapurg's bomb, Scoundrel had
managed to escape.
(Wolverine VII#38) - Scoundrel was among the costumed criminals and
wealthy patrons invited aboard a cruise ship for a Legacy House auction
of stolen mutant memorabilia. He mingled near the buffet while Captain
America and Wolverine infiltrated the gathering disguised as
Western-themed staff.

Genolet.
There are plenty of super-powered thieves in the Marvel Universe: from
the Ghost and the Fox to Gambit and the entire Thieves Guild... What
makes the Scoundrel such an interesting addition is the fact he never
got noticed or caught, y'know, like any thief worth his money. Just how
he made it on the government's public enemy list is never explained,
maybe the fact he's so low on the list in spite of all his high-level
heists proves how good he is.
Nothing much is known about his background, but given the
Spanish/Portugese spelling of his name 'Nicolás' and the lucha libre
elements in his costume, the Scoundrel could be of Mexican descent. And
oh yeah, he's a dead-ringer for Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal...
There's no telling how long he's been active. He doesn't look that old,
but with a generic and borderline corny codename as 'the Scoundrel' he
wouldn't have looked out of place next to Matador, the Jester or the
Rabble-Rouser. Maybe the magics he stole from that witch also kept him
young and vital.
