they were used as some sort of god of judgment by an
unidentified race/tribe of lizard men
First Appearance: Tor#2 (July, 1993)
Powers/Abilities: The reptilians generally sat and
stood like bipeds, but they placed their forelimbs/hands upon the ground
for increased rate of locomotion. Their back legs used a digitigrade
stance, walking on their phalanges (digits) with the metatarsals and
tarsus (hock/ankle) elevated.
An adult female was taller/longer than a powerfully built human male, and an adult male was even larger and more powerful.
They possess sharp teeth and claws, as
well as a large and powerful tail that could presumably be used as a
weapon, and they have a series of ridges running down their backs and
tails.
They are oviparous, with a fertilized
female laying eggs from which their offspring hatch.
Despite being reptilian, the mother had bilateral chains of mammary glands (at least three per side).
They may or may not be poikilotherms,
with body temperature significantly changing with the ambient
temperature
Traits: The reptilians dwell in family units, with monogamous mating and loyalty to their offspring.
Even when freshly hatched, they are
driven to attack, feed on, and kill any potential prey within range.
Type: Bilaterally
symmetric humanoid bipeds
Eyes: Two (on head);
the female and newborns seen had a solid color,
possibly covered with a partially reflective cover; light green and
yellow colors see;
the observed male have a large red iris with a
vertical slit pupil
Fingers: Four (plus opposing thumb);
the observed female appears to have some degree of
webbing extending halfway to the proximal interphalangeal joint;
the observed newborns have an elongated fourth digit
(ring finger)
Toes: Four
Skin color: Green for adults, although newborns are pale, almost
white
Average height: Approximately 7' tall (or 12' long, including
tail) for females, and perhaps 10' tall (or 18' long, include tail) for
females;
newborns appear to be about a foot long
History:
(Tor#2 (fb) -BTS) - An unidentified male and female of some
race of reptilians came to dwell in some subterranean caverns. Over
undefined ages, their eyes acclimated to the darkness, but vision was
limited for the adults, although newborns' vision was superior. Adults
perceived scents and sounds first, with sight being much more limited.
A tribe or race of semi-hominids came to dwell in the land above these caverns and, under unrevealed circumstances, they used the caverns and their inhabitants as a way to test themselves and/or others. A being was lowered or dropped into the "Demon Hole," and either their body or their purified spirit would climb back up to the surface.
The reptilians and/or other inhabitants of the caverns
presumably devoured those dropped into the Demon Hole.
At some point, the male and female mated, and the
female laid a number of eggs.
(Tor#2 - BTS) - The unidentified surface tribe
captured Tor and lowered him into the Demon Hole. Tor lowered himself to
the bottom where he observed skeletons protruding from the ankle-deep
muck, and he realized that others tested thusly had been devoured. Seeking
a weapon, he broke off a stalagmite. 
(Tor#2) - As Tor traveled the caverns, he encountered the female, with a newborn offspring standing atop her head, sitting around her eggs.
(Tor#3) - Smelling the visitor, the mother was initially unable to visualize him. However, her offspring saw Tor, and the screeching small creature charged him, dodging his defenses and biting him in the shoulder. After Tor pulled the creature off of him and fatally smashed it against the cave wall, the mother, with a screaming hiss, charged Tor. However, she leapt on top of and was fatally impaled by Tor's stalagmite spear.
Considering that the mother would test no others, Tor investigated her egg nest, and another creature cracked through its shell and immediately attacked Tor. After he killed this newborn, Tor considered that the creatures were born to kill, and he smashed the rest of the eggs.
The sire of the slain reptilians then approached;
appreciating the fates of his family, he approached Tor, who hurled the
infant carcass into the water. The sire stopped briefly to retrieve the
carcass and then pursued Tor through a series of caverns before finally
catching up to him, at which point Tor turned and kicked the giant
creature. The creature and Tor grappled as they rolled through the caverns
until eventually the sire was apparently fatally impaled by stalagmites.
Knowing the tribe that had cast him down there were waiting to make certain that only his spirit rose back to the surface, Tor skinned the mother and donned her flesh before scaling the walls.
As he reached the surface, Tor's monstrous appearance
caused most of the tribe to back off enough to allow him to stand amongst
them. Recognizing the deceit, the shaman attacked Tor, who eventually cast
him into the Demon Hole.
As Tor and the woman he had rescued departed the
tribe's village, the woman used the snow to soothe Tor's burning skin
(irritated from having worn the reptilian mother's flesh).

This specific incarnation was created under the
creator-owned Epic imprint.
Earth-69331 Men of Tor's tribe gave shelter to
Klar's people, who betrayed and killed them, taking the tribe and their
women. Thought dead, Tor survived and years later came back for vengeance.
Klar was vanquished, but Tor refused to live with the clan who had taken
his father's assassin as leader and departed once again. Tor #1 (1993)
Tor first appeared in 1,000,000 Years Ago! (September,
1953), but I'm told that Tor's history in the Epic series is different
than Tor's classic history, so this is a new reality.
This profile was

for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event.
