History:
(Frontier Western I#1/5 (fb) - BTS) - The Pecos Kid was the son of a
town sheriff. At some point, he was separated from his father and
became an outlaw. His father didn't know he had become the Pecos Kid
and continued to speak of him to people as though he were still
present. As the two men had not seen each other in 15 years, many of
the townsfolk believed the sheriff's son had been dead for a long time.
(Frontier Western I#1/5) - The Pecos Kid went to the town where his father was sheriff and found him in a saloon, about to get in a gunfight with Juke. With two quick shots, the Pecos Kid knocked the guns out of Juke's hands then ordered him to pick up his guns, leave town and never come back. The sheriff was pleased to have the Pecos Kid's help and declared that he was a good shot, like his son. When the sheriff wondered aloud if he and the Pecos Kid had met before, the Pecos Kid replied that he didn't think so.
Checking his wanted posters, the sheriff saw the Pecos Kid was wanted dead or alive and became determined to bring him in, claiming it would make his son proud of him. The sheriff sent a townsperson to warn the Pecos Kid that he knew who he was and that he was going to arrest him despite having received his help against Juke. The townsperson told the Pecos Kid that the sheriff was the town's best sheriff and he was afraid the younger gunfighter would kill him. The Pecos Kid told the townsperson to tell the sheriff he wouldn't leave and if he wanted him, he'd have to take him with a gun in his hand.
The sheriff still insisted on a confrontation and came to face him in the saloon. The Pecos Kid warned the sheriff that if he took one more step, he'd drawn on him. The sheriff drew his guns first and shot the Pecos Kid dead. The townsperson from earlier wondered why the Pecos Kid hadn't outdrawn the sheriff, as he was clearly a faster draw. Dying, the Pecos Kid admitted he was the sheriff's long-lost son but since everyone believed him to be dead and he didn't want his father to know what kind of a man he was.

Juke was a wild gunman. One night, he entered a town saloon and began firing his gun in air, declaring "I'm a timber wolf and tonight's my night to howl!" He called out the town sheriff, promising that if the sheriff faced him in a gunfight, he'd kill him. The sheriff responded to this provocation but it also drew the attention of the Pecos Kid. Before Juke could fire at the sheriff, the Pecos Kid swiftly fired two shots that knocked the guns out of his hands. The Pecos Kid ordered Juke to pick up his guns, leave town and never come back.

The Pecos Kid's father was an old sheriff. They had not seen each other for 15 years but the sheriff spoke about his son as though he were always with him. When the Pecos Kid helped his father against Juke, the sheriff was grateful for his help but didn't recognize him as his long-lost son. Realizing the Pecos Kid was an outlaw, he insisted on confronting him. Unwilling to kill his own father, the Pecos Kid permitted his father to outdraw him and kill him. The sheriff believed that one day, his son would be proud to know he had downed the Pecos Kid.
