Powers/Abilities: Cassian was a skilled swordsman, fighting and surviving through numerous battles.
As Moon Knight, he manifested a new sword and gained the superhuman strength that allowed him to withstand and defeat Apocalypse, an extremely powerful mutant.

History: (Phases of the Moon Knight#1/2 (fb) - BTS) - Cassian was born a peasant in the late 12th Century England. He spent his early life tending to the castle of his local lord.
(Phases of the Moon Knight#1/2) - In 1200 A.D., an order of Knights Templar on their way to the Holy Land came by, seeking men to recruit. Impressed by Cassian's size, they sought to enlist him, and Cassian agreed - not for the bloodlust of the war but to escape his current life. He traveled south with the Crusaders and fought well enough to survive multiple battles over the next three years.
By the time the campaign had reached the North Africa, Cassian became disillusioned with the cause and walked away from a camp into the desert, abandoning his Order. A great sandstorm hit, but the god of the Moon Khonshu secretly guided him to shelter inside his temple. After Cassian woke up, a voice directed him to a statue of a Moon Knight and commanded him to step into the beam of light. He did so, and was shown a vision of what his life was and what it could be if he swore to become an avatar of Khonshu and fight his enemies. Wishing to be done fighting the battles of others, Cassian refused and was ejected from the temple, which disappeared beneath his feet. Only a silver scarab remained in his hand as proof that it was not a dream.
Cassian set out again and walked
for a day until he found the bodies of North Africans and Crusaders
alike arranged as a warning next to a pyramid constructed by the
followers of Apocalypse. Recognizing the threat this conqueror posed to
everyone, Cassian attempted to strike him down, but his steel
shattered, and he himself was swatted away. Before Apocalypse could
finish him, Cassian reached for the scarab and accepted the previous
offer.
Transformed into Khonshu's Moon Knight, he manifested a new sword and fought Apocalypse, eventually beheading him. The slaves who had chanted for En Sabah Nur before began praising Khonshu instead. As the future he had seen in the vision came to pass, Cassian wondered if he had merely replaced one tyrant with another.
Comments: Created by Benjamin Percy and Rod Reis.The dates given in the story (1200-1203) almost exactly match those of the Fourth Crusade (1202-1204). In our world, the Fourth Crusade famously was planned for Egypt but deviated from its goal and headed for Constantinople instead.

Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent
characters associated with Apocalypse.
