History:
(Symbiote Spider-Man: King in Black#1) - At Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane, Monica went up to the room of Alistaire Smythe, who had become host to the shadowy extraterrestrial Mister E, to inform him of visitors that would be up to see him shortly. Upon arrival in Smythe's room, Monica demanded to know what the syringe-holding Smythe was doing, to which Smythe replied that he was experimenting and remarked on whether Monica intended to be a test subject. Interrupting Smythe, Monica demanded to know what Smythe was injecting himself with and Smythe informed her that the formula was of his own creation and that he had arranged for it to be pumped through the Institute's ventilation systems as they spoke. When a smiling Smythe noted that the concoction should be throughout the Institute by that point, a shocked Monica accused Smythe of being insane before going into a coughing fit, having breathed in a sufficient amount of the concoction while they were speaking. As Monica transformed into one of Mister E's Shadow Slaves, the Mister E-hosting Alistaire Smythe gloated about the shadow beginning to cover the sun, his second chance with his master, and how Monica looked much better in shadow form.
