Powers/Abilities: Millie the Marvel could fly, with an unrevealed top speed, and possessed sufficient superhuman strength to easily lift a medium sized car over her head (over 2 tons?) or juggle two barbells each weighing a thousand pounds, lifting each higher than her head while supporting them with only her index fingers. She had enhanced reflexes and may have been resistant to damage (it's unclear whether she dodged the Chill's freeze ray or simply shrugged off its effect).

History:
(Modeling with Millie#54/2) - When she wasn't working as a model Millie Collins was secretly the superhero Millie the Marvel.

(Modeling with Millie#54/2 (fb) - BTS) - One of her recurring foes was the Chill.

(Modeling with Millie#54/2) - One day she had an appearance scheduled at the Orphans' Charity Telethon. Prior to attending she did a quick flight over the city to ensure no crimes were being committed, but finding all quiet she landed outside the benefit, where she was greeted by the press and fans. Asked to say a few words for the television audience, Millie lifted a car over her head to show off her powers, and reminded everyone at home to be kind to others and stay as sweet as they were. Then she headed inside and on stage, her arrival announced by the telethon host. She juggled barbells while reminding the viewers of the worthy cause she was trying to raise money for, and asked everyone to give generously. She then introduced her two friends from the Hanover Modeling Agency, Jill Jerold and Toni Turner, and held them aloft, each one balancing on the palm of one of her hands.

   However, a fraction of a second later the host ran on stage to announce that the contributions center had just been robbed by the supervillainess the Chill. Millie promised to stop the criminal, but as she said this the Chill stalked on stage too, announcing her intention to supplant Millie by delivering the money to the orphans herself in Millie's place. Clearly jealous of Millie, the Chill taunted her foe, telling her to see how it felt to be bested and firing her freeze ray at Millie. However Millie dodged, so the Chill turned her gun in the direction of Kill and Toni, threatening to freeze them into human popsicles if Millie didn't surrender, but the two models shouted to Millie to ignore the risk to them and catch the crook. Realizing she needed a ruse to distract the Chill if she wanted to save her friends, Millie shouted to the Chill that behind the villain there was a rich, handsome playboy who seemed interested in her. Immediately the shallow Chill turned around, and Millie pounced, closing the distance between them in an instant to snatch the Chill's firearm.

   Millie began tying the Chill up in preparation for handing her over to the authorities, but the Chill begged for clemency, pointing out that had intended to give the money to the orphans and had only wanted to get the credit for doing so instead of Millie. Feeling the Chill had learned her lesson, Millie released her and asked her to stay and help the telethon raise more money. The Chill agreed, and the pair co-hosted the show together, with Millie even permitting her erstwhile opponent to announce the show's final result of raising more than $100,000 for the orphans. Millie then flew the Chill home, though as she carried the Chill through the sky her foe promised to defeat the heroine one day. After dropping the Chill off, Millie flew home herself, pleased to have made a lot of children happy and to have learned that the Chill had a heart hidden beneath the cloak of ice she pretended to wear.

  Millie the Marvel appears in a dream of Millie the Model after she reads a copy of Fantastic Four I#63, and then wonders what it would be like to be a superhero like the characters in the story, especially Invisible Girl. Even though it is presented as a dream, in an infinite multiverse there's a reality that matches every possible scenario, and there's precedent for dreams merely being someone in one reality subconsciously tuning into events happening in another reality. The story ended with a note asking readers to write in if they wanted to read more adventures of Millie the Marvel, but this was the final issue of Modeling with Millie, and afaik Millie the Marvel never resurfaced in Millie's other titles.

  Interestingly, the Millie who has the dream seems to believe that superheroes don't exist in real life - "There'll never be any real super-heroes" - which would be strange for someone living on modern era Earth-616, especially in New York City, where the Avengers and Fantastic Four are known celebrities. This was because at the time this tale was written the non-superhero titles were largely considered to not be part of the growing Marvel Universe, even though characters from the teen romance/humor titles did occasionally make cameos there - heck, by the time this story was published Millie had actually attended the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Despite this one-sided attempt to keep the different genres separated, it's generally accepted now that Millie's stories are set on 616, so perhaps the non-dream portions of this Millie tale is an exception and shows Millie from a world without heroes. Or perhaps Millie was being ditzy that day, and somehow temporarily forgot that she'd actually met the Fantastic Four and many other heroes at the wedding.

   I've ASSumed that this alternate reality Millie has the same physical stats (height and weight) as her 616 counterpart, but it's entirely possible that superhuman strength might be tied to a denser bodily structure, or that she grew a few inches upon gaining her powers.

   I've also ASSumed that since this Millie is still a model, and still calls Jill Jerold and Toni Turner good friends, and that both Jill and Toni are stated to be members of the Hanover Modeling Agency as they are in 616, then Millie also remains signed to that agency.

   This profile was completed on 04/08/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event to represent Millie the Model.

The Chill

The Chill was a supervillain who possessed a gun capable of shooting a freezing ray. A rival of Millie the Marvel, she had tried to best her foe many times, but never succeeded. Wanting to upstage her, the Chill robbed a charity telethon raising money for orphans, intended not to keep the money for herself but to be the one to donate it instead of Millie, but she couldn't resist confronting her nemesis on live television. Millie dodged the Chill's freeze blasts, so the Chill threatened to instead shoot Millie's friends, the models Jill Jerold and Toni Turner, but Millie distracted the shallow Chill by claiming that a rich, handsome playboy was behind the villain and seemed to be interested in her. The Chill immediately turned to look, giving Millie the opening to speed in and disarm her. Desperate not to go to prison, the Chill begged for forgiveness since she'd not planned to keep the stolen cash, and Millie acquiesced, even asking the Chill to help host the telethon. The Chill did so, and Millie even permitted her foe to take the limelight by announcing the total raised. Millie then flew the Chill home, though the crook still vowed to defeat Millie one day.

Jill Jerold

A friend of Millie the Marvel, the model Jill Jerold worked for the Hanover Modeling Agency, and turned up as a guest for Millie's charity telethon. Millie held Jill and fellow model Toni Turner aloft as part of the show, and was subsequently present when the Chill stole the proceeds and stormed on stage to challenge Millie. The Chill tried to use the two models as hostages, threatening to freeze them if Millie didn't surrender, but the pair were undaunted by the threat and shouted to Millie to attack the Chill regardless of any danger to them. When Millie disarmed the Chill both of the models cheered her win, and applauded as she tied the crook up.

Toni Turner
