Powers/Abilities: M'Gubgub was a cosmic entity
that had existed since before the Big Bang, and which fully expected to
continue existing for eternity. His form was so immense that he had to
spread it across millions of miles of space because if he compacted it
smaller it the gravitational pull might destroy the entire universe; he
could adopt whatever form he wanted for smaller parts of his body when
he wanted to interact with smaller beings, and generally was existing in
innumerable forms simultaneously across entire solar systems. Obviously
as a being that lived in outer space he had no need to breath and did
not consume what humans would consider normal food; he was said to
consume galaxies for breakfast, though this was likely at least a little
hyperbolic - he probably could destroy galaxies if he wanted to, but may
not have actually consumed them. Given his immense size, stellar
phenomenon such as supernovae and black holes were probably at most
minor conveniences. M'Gubgub could traverse interstellar space at many
times the speed of light, but given that he didn't catch the fleeing
Alfie O'Meagan his speed was not infinite - or else he deliberately let
Alfie keep just ahead of him for amusement.
M'Gubgub had telepathic powers allowing him
to probe the minds of others, and claimed to have glimpsed into billions
of futures, suggesting some sort of precognitive ability. He also
mentioned having five hundred senses, some of which permitted him to
peer into other dimensions. As a cosmic entity, it's probable he had
other powers such as the ability to manipulate various forms of energy,
but he never bothered to use them on panel before John Doe destroyed
him.

inches high, M'Gubgub would be the size of Canada

History:
(Nth Man#16 (fb) - BTS) -
M'Gubgub was a cosmic entity that had existed since chaos exploded in
the void (e.g. the Big Bang), and who fully expected himself to be
around for all eternity, having looked into a billion possible futures
and across a multitude of dimensions to confirm this. He was so large
that he had to spread his mass out over millions of miles in order to
prevent his gravitational field pulling in the entire universe. Able to
take on millions of different forms, each reputedly more horrible than
the next, he roamed the universe hunting down and destroying temporal
anomalies.
(Nth Man#13 - BTS) - On the planet of the Borborgym in a solar systems towards the dense core of the Milky Way Galaxy the native Borborygm were alerted by a device known as the Arrrgh that M'Gubgub was approaching. This prompted an immediate mass exodus with thousands of spaceships carrying the entire Borborygm species, heading towards the other end of the galaxy as fast as they could. Their departure was witnessed by the visiting reality-warping Earth mutant Alfie O'Meagan (who was also a temporal anomaly, and likely what was drawing M'Gubgub there) and his unwilling herald Dr. Candy Goodstroke. Oblivious as to what M'Gubgub was, massively overconfident because he had never yet met anyone more powerful than himself, and overtaken by a messiah complex that had him wanting to save the universe, Alfie decided to stay and begin his self-imposed mission by getting rid of M'Gubgub.
(Nth Man#14) - When a massively powerful being bigger than the Borborygm planet showed up, its power dwarfing that of Alfie, he assumed this was M'Gubgub. However, when an impressed Alfie tried to flatter the being by stating that he couldn't see how anything could be more powerful than it and called it M'Gubgub the visitor, who was NOT M'Gubgub, fled in terror at the realization that M'Gubgub was approaching. Meanwhile Goodstroke noticed something else coming towards the planet from the other side of the universe, and as Alfie wondered where the heck the actual M'Gubgub was, Goodstroke alerted him to what she had seen - something so big that just the shadow of what appeared to be a single hand was blocking out half the galaxy.
(Nth Man#16 (fb) - BTS) - Confronted by M'Gubgub Alfie
discovered his powers, immense in comparison to any other human, paled
against M'Gubgub's might. Alfie, enlarged to the maximum size his
powers permitted, stood atop the exploding Borborygm world as M'Gubgub
manifested a giant face to question him and, curious to know where he
originated from, hit Alfie with a searing mental probe. The backwash
from this gave Alfie a glimpse into M'Gubgub's thoughts, informing him
of the entity's desire to eliminate temporal anomalies and that it
intended to destroy Alfie's homeworld as one such anomaly. Immediately
Alfie fled with Goodstroke in tow.
(Nth Man#16 (fb) - BTS) - Alfie and
Goodstroke spent the next year leading him a wild goose chase across
half the galaxy in the hopes of luring him away from Earth, but
M'Gubgub proved relentless in his pursuit. Ultimately tiring of
constantly running and reasoning that M'Gubgub might know or soon find
the way to Earth anyway, as well as being aware that despite his
powers he lacked the warrior instinct that might give him even the
slightest chance in a fight with M'Gubgub, Alfie decided to return to
Earth and seek out his friend John Doe, a.k.a. the Nth Man,
the best fighter Alfie knew.
(Nth Man#15) -
A year after they first encountered M'Gubgub both Alfie and Goodstroke
returned to Earth, having been unsuccessful in their attempts to shake
the entity. They located John Doe, but moments later M'Gubgub himself
arrived, manifesting as a humanoid giant several miles high.
(Nth Man#16) - M'Gubgub crouched down to stare inside the window
of the building that Alfie and John were in, apparently feeling no sense
of urgency (see comments) in his plan to destroy Earth. To give
John a chance against M'Gubgub Alfie poured his essence into John,
transforming him into a giant, albeit one still less than half the size
of M'Gubgub's manifestation. Unimpressed, M'Gubgub deigned to speak to
the enlarged John, informing the human that nothing could save this
world, which would be nullified because it was a temporal anomaly.
Undeterred, John tackled M'Gubgub to the ground, but the entity
dismissed the assault, pointing out that the humanoid form John was
attacking was the merest pseudopod of his being, a single follicle
protruding from a minor pore of a being who existed simultaneously in
countless forms stretched out beyond Earth's solar system and into the
cold barren emptiness between the stars. In response John taunted
M'Gubgub, saying he was unimpressed and demanding to see if he could do
more than talk a good fight. Taking the challenge, M'Gubgub threw John
several miles. Realizing he had no chance in hand-to-hand combat, John
tried a different tack, deploying an ability he had to make an opponent
believe that the world around them had been inverted; normally only
(apparently) a hypnotic trick, this time it was backed by Alfie's
reality warping powers. Initially M'Gubgub remained complacent, noting
that he sensed a minor rip in the fabric of reality, a feeble flux of
the space-time continuum, but then the true impact hit the entity.
Unable to turn the world upside down for a being that spanned galaxies,
the enhanced power instead made space and time inside M'Gubgub turn
inside out, triggering M'Gubgub to collapse in on himself. His immense
mass became his Achilles' heel, as his own gravitational field increased
the more compacted he became, pulling his millions of forms in faster
and faster into a vortex of eternal nothingness. As he met his end,
M'Gubgub raged at being destroyed by an insignificant temporal anomaly,
prompting John to demand to know why the entity kept calling him that.
As a last act of spite, M'Gubgub reached out telepathically to show John
the truth of his existence, hoping it would make John want to follow him
into the void of non-existence. And with that M'Gubgub folded in on
himself and disappeared.

Since M'Gubgub can take on any form he likes,
while he has no hair nor it seems eyes in his natural form, he can have
them whenever he wants to. As a cosmic entity with a thousand forms,
it's probably inaccurate to call M'gubgub "him," but since any other
terms would presumably be equally inaccurate and since Alfie uses "him"
when talking about M'Gubgub, I'll stick to that if only for ease of
reference.
In the shot top left we see M'Gubgub
manifesting a face to confront Alfie O'Meagan. For size context, the
exploding thing Alfie is standing on is the Borborygm planet.
Why did M'Gubgub give Alfie time to deliver a
ton of exposition to Nth Man, when he presumably could have just begun
destroying Earth very quickly and easily? I'm guessing he felt there was
no rush because he'd never encountered anyone who could oppose him so he
was complacent, because he was so ancient and immortal and so felt he
had all the time in the universe to carry out the task, and because he
was likely bored, feeling he had seen everything that could happen
umpteen times already and so was willing to give Alfie a chance to come
up with something, on the slim off-chance it might make this encounter
with a world's would-be defender a little more interesting than the
innumerable similar ones that had preceded it.
