He also used rock as armor, including a face-hiding helmet, as well as generating slides (similar to those created by the X-Men's Iceman) for faster transport or elevation, or increasing his arm into a giant fist or claw.

History:

(Reptil I#2 (fb)) - When younger with auburn hair, the Hag lived among the Pits on Dinosaur World and communed with Spirits there, protected from dinosaurs. But her lone son Sarsen was fearful as the Spirits did not protect nor commune with him.

(Devil Dinosaur I#9) - The adventurers Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy stumbled accidentally upon the the region of the Pits. Devil Dinosaur slipped and fell down one of the Pit portals while Moon Boy was barely able to save himself. He cried out for aid and was helped back up by the Hag and Sarsen. Moon Boy pleaded for his dinosaur's rescue. Inside the great cave, the Hag and Sarsen pushed rounded boulders into the Big Pit, the only place where those lost in the Pits' dimensional depths could have a chance to return. After each pushed a rock in to trigger a reaction from the Pit Spirits, they ran for cover and watched as the Big Pit glowed and Devil Dinosaur returned once more. Grateful but also fearful, Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur quickly departed. Sarsen was troubled that they remained among the Pits, but the Hag dreamed of hopes for future power.

(Reptil I#2 (fb)) - The Hag grew concerned about her world, so she created a large crystal that would give its wielder power over prehistoric fauna and flora to protect them from extinction (possibly from the Celestials' judgment). But Sarsen's fear had since turned to anger; now a young adult, Sarsen violently tried to claim the crystal's power for himself, so the Hag communed with the Pit Spirits, which advised her to cast the crystal into the fiery pits, and she did so.

(Reptil I#3 (fb) - BTS) - The crystal broke in two and was intended to be found by chosen saviors; the dinosaur power part found its way to Humberto Lopez on Earth-616 (who became the heroic adventurer hero Reptil) while the rock-plant controlling section was lost on Earth. Sarsen desired to become the Master of the Pits and searched for the lost pieces, which took him to Earth-616. Sarsen opportunistically found the hi-tech billionaire Henry Desjardin and imprisoned him in his Los Angeles home, and forced the genius to create hi-tech gadgets like a gauntlet-mounted image inducer so that Sarsen could mimic Desjardin. As Desjardin, Sarsen directed digs to find the crystal pieces, including Humberto's parents Isaac and Jessica (both archaeologists), whom he bound inside the rock-plant crystal once they found it. Sarsen took on the villainous identity of Megalith (Desjardin's company name), augmented himself with rock armor, and hunted for Humberto so that he could control both halves.

(Reptil I#1) - Tracking the crystal to downtown Los Angeles, Megalith attacked near where Humberto was with his cousins Eva and Julian Quintero, and threatened more destruction using his golems unless Humberto handed over his crystal. Megalith charged at the partially changed Reptil and tried to rip out the youth's chest crystal, but Eva intervened with her newfound mystical powers. Megalith retaliated, which bolstered Reptil's resolve until the foe revealed he knew where Humberto's parents were.

(Reptil I#2) - Reptil pinned Megalith to the ground and slashed the bone helmet off, revealing the "human" face beneath. A golem momentarily distracted Reptil, allowing Megalith to flee on a stone slide. Megalith's "human" face was afterward recognized as Henry Desjardin. Later, Reptil (with Eva and Julian) visited the Hag in Dinosaur World; she told them of Sarsen and the crystals' origin.

(Reptil I#3) - Megalith responded to the remote alert that Desjardin's home had been broken into, and he found Reptil and his cousins. Megalith lunged at them but was frozen in midair by Eva's magic. Taunting them, Megalith manically divulged everything, which angered Humberto, who knocked him out of the window, freeing the villain of the spell. Megalith generated dirt-plant golems that helped him fight the young trio, who were forced to flee, but they accidentally dropped a flier for the upcoming Chicanx Pride Festival.

(Reptil I#4) - Megalith used the flier information and attacked the Chicanx Pride Festival, opening the collapsible portal device and threatened miles-wide destruction unless Humberto let his chest crystal be ripped out. Megalith summoned golems but Reptil savagely fought back; Megalith's concentration broke and caused golems to stagger. Various Festival goers stood against Megalith in defiance, including Humberto's family and Enrique the taco truck man. Eva generated a magic barrier to prevent golems smashing into the neighborhood, but still allowing humans to escape. Reptil transformed into the quetzacoatlus winged dinosaur to oppose Megalith, but knocking the villain back damaged the portal and dinosaurs began emerging, menacing those people still left. Reptil transformed into a smaller dinosaur and discovered that by mutating into full dinosaur mode, he could communicate with dinosaurs and he stopped their stampede. Reptil flew as a small dinosaur and grabbed Megalith's crystal and smashed it, accepting his parents were lost as part of a determined effort to end Megalith's menace. The source of his power gone, Megalith's armor and golems fell apart. Reptil used a clubbed dinosaur tail to knock Megalith through the portal, where he saw the Hag thank him. The dinosaurs went back through the portal too. Reptil then smashed the portal.

Comments: Sarsen created by Jack Kirby. Character named and expanded upon into Megalith by Terry Blas, Enid Balam, Victor Olazaba.

Sarsen and his mother had characteristics of the Small-Folk, but they may have been of another species indigenous to Dinosaur World.

On a side note (possibly unrelated), there was a cannibalistic villainous character called Henri Desjardins in the horror film The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014).

CLARIFICATIONS :
Megalith has no known connections to:

Henry Desjardin

Henry Desjardin was a very wealthy tech industrialist who lived in a modern mansion in Los Angeles. He originally founded a company called Megalith, which made him rich, but then Sarsen found and imprisoned him. Sarsen forced Desjardin (by threatening to harm those he cared about) to create various tech gadgets, including gauntlet-mounted image inducer so that Sarsen could mimic Desjardin's appearance in public, although the reduced appearance of "Desjardin" made people think he was a recluse. Using this, Sarsen (in the guise of Desjardin) directed digs toward finding part of the broken crystal. Sarsen also pushed Desjardin to invent a portal gate to Dinosaur World. The heroic Reptil, with cousins Eva and Julian, broke into Desjardin's house to find out his connection to the villainous Megalith, but found Sarsen, who manically divulged everything.

When Reptil entered Desjardin's home, he detected a foul smell, so it could be that Desjardin died.
