Powers/Abilities: Koaam possessed a portion of the Oldpower, a massive source of energy tied to the planet Sakaar which allowed him to tap into the planet itself to increase his strength and durability. He could also tap into seismic power, causing the ground around him to shift and quake. Koaam lacked proper training in the use of the Oldpower and could not fully access it, although he proved able to exhibit tremendous feats of superhuman strength. He could transform himself into a stone-like form, rendering him immune to most injuries.

History:
(Skaar: Son of Hulk I#5/2 (fb)) - Because Koaam was an orphan and
fourth cousin to Caiera, the Oldstrong, he was permitted the privilege
of living in Saka Temple, the spiritual center of the continent, where
he dwelled among the Shadow Elders of Sakaar. However, he was not
permitted to join the ranks of the Shadow Priests, instead finding
employment among them as their janitor.
When the Shadow Priests left Saka Temple to Crown City to meet with their new king the Hulk, Koaam was left behind at Saka Temple. Unfortunately, a bomb was set off in Crown City, killing Caiera and the Shadow Priests. The Oldpower possessed by the priests flowed back to Saka Temple and into Koaam, granting him the power previously wielded by all of the priests. However, as Koaam had never been trained to control the Oldpower, he caused a quake that destroyed Saka Temple.
For days, Koaam destroyed everything he touched but eventually, he remembered the koans he had learned from the Shadow Priests. Through meditation, he focused his mind enough to hold back the Oldpower. He began to wield the Oldpower to rescue people in the wilderness from barbarians. The people he rescued came to believe he was the Son of the Hulk and looked on him as their savior.
(Skaar: Son of Hulk I#1) - While leading the band of refugees that had assembled around him (whose numbers included the elderly Shadow "Old Sam"), Koaam saw an army of barbarians led by Axeman Bone charging towards them. As Koaam simply stood stationary looking at the barbarians, one of his followers grabbed him to lead him over a bluff, only to find Axeman Bone himself was there, riding upon a dragon. Axeman Bone's hostage Hiro-Amin, a Shadow Priest, identified Koaam as the son of the Hulk, claiming the Oldpower he possessed had come from Caiera when she died. Axeman Bone's dragon breathed fire on Koaam but Koaam used the Oldpower to defend himself. However, Axeman Bone assaulted him with his axe and with a single blow shattered Koaam into pieces of stone.
(Skaar: Son of Hulk I#5/2 (fb)) - At the moment of his death, Koaam willed the Oldpower to pass from him to Hiro-Amin.
(Skaar: Son of Hulk I#1) - Some of Koaam's remains were kept by his followers as they were enslaved by the barbarians.
(Skaar: Son of Hulk I#5/2) - Hiro-Amin kept one of Koaam's petrified eyes as a souvenir. When Hiro-Kala asked for his Oldpower, Hiro-Amin explained what possessing the Oldpower had meant for Koaam and that he had known Koaam wasn't the Hulk's son when he told Axeman Bone to kill him. Hiro-Amin came to view the Oldpower as a curse.

The opening sequence of Skaar: Son of Hulk I#1 showed Skaar as an infant then time-skipped ahead one year to introduce Koaam. Because Skaar hadn't yet been seen in his grown form and Koaam's name wasn't revealed until issue #5, it was a deliberate attempt to mislead the audience into think Koaam was the titular Skaar. Skaar didn't appear in his grown form 'til the closing pages of the comic.
