History:
(Marvel Age: Fantastic Four I#12 (fb) - BTS) - Rick Jones
was hired by the US Government/military (not
sure which of these two would be in
charge of hiring scientists) and, alongside Karl Kort, became
an
assistant to Dr. Bruce Banner. Jones became close to Banner as his
colleague while Kort was generally dismissive of Jones' intelligence.
Under unrevealed circumstances, Jones learned that Banner could change
into the Hulk, a secret he helped his boss conceal from the Army
(Marvel Age: Fantastic Four I#12) - General Thaddeus Ross brought the Fantastic Four (Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards, Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Human Torch/Johnny Storm, Thing/Ben Grimm) to Gamma Base to capture the Hulk, who was believed to be destroying military equipment in the area. Jones and fellow assistant Kort were present during the briefing between the FF and Dr. Banner. Banner tried to explain his theory that a person called the Wrecker was actually responsible for the damage but was overruled by Ross. After the meeting broke up, Jones went to Kort's lab to help with his research regarding the Hulk. Finding the lab deserted, Jones made himself at home at Kort's desk, where he found plans for a giant Wrecker robot. Before he could leave to warn the Hulk, Jones was captured by Kort and taken to his nearby underground bunker, where Kort used the threat to Jones' safety to force the Hulk to drive the FF away. The Hulk battled the FF but was shot from behind by the Wrecker. Jones was freed by Sue and Ben after they destroyed the robot, broke open the door to Kort's bunker and took him prisoner.

Rick
Jones appeared to be extremely tall on Earth-50302, though that could
just be artistic license. --Proto-Man
