History: (Marvels Comics: Captain America#1 (fb) - BTS) - Rick Jones and his great-granddaughter Janis worked together to stop a Hydra agent from using Doctor Doom's time platform to change history. Rick fell into the platform and became unstuck in time, tossed across different time periods while Janis and Cary St. Lawrence worked to bring him back home.
(Marvels Comics: Captain America#1) - The Time Platform dropped Rick in the middle of a frozen area with barbed wire. An explosion landed nearby, and Rick through his wrist communicator told his allies to get him out, which they were unable to do. Rick discovered that he was in the middle of World War II when he was captured by the Nazis who prepared to execute him. He was saved by the sudden appearance by Captain America and Bucky, but neither of them believed his story. Rick gained their trust by using their real names, which were a closely-kept secret in their present.
Cap and Bucky took Rick back to their camp and asked him about the outcome of the war and their own fates, which Rick hesitated to reveal. Sergeant Schriver entered their tent and accused Rick of being a spy, whom he said were everywhere. Bucky said that they were no spies around, and Schriver shot him, taking off his rubber mask and revealing himself as Baron Zemo. Captain America's shield protected him and Jones, but Zemo escaped, satisfied with what he had accomplished. With his last words, Bucky asked Rick to fight the Nazis in his name.
Captain America went after Zemo, and Rick joined him, donning Bucky's combat uniform and taking up his name. At his Rathskeller Castle, Zemo activated the combat robots which prevailed over Cap and the new Bucky, knocking them out. Zemo strapped them to a missile aimed at London and initiated the launch, but Captain America used his super-strength to break their bonds. Rick recognized a familiar scenario unfolding moments before his costume was snagged in the missile as it launched. Captain America fell off, but Rick was stuck and ordered Janis to pull him out, seemingly perishing in the same way he knew Bucky to have died from history. The history ended up being remembered exactly as Rick Jones had grown up knowing, establishing a Bootstrap Paradox.
However, Rick's allies had activated the time platform in time to save him, pulling him into the year 2030 of the future reality of Earth-72311. Rick found himself in the Oval Office where Stephenson, now the President of the United States, asked for his help in stopping the Red Skull once and for all.
(Marvels Comics: Captain America#1 - BTS) - This reality mirrored a story published by Marvel Comics of the Prime Marvel Universe. It written by Rick Jones and penciled by Steven Rogers of Earth-616.
Comments: Created by Peter David, Ron Frenz and Mark Bagley. The story is presented as taking place in the middle of an ongoing arc as "Time Rip, Part 5". Neither the previous four parts nor the continuation teased on the last page were ever produced, as it was all part of the joke.
