History:
(Star Wars Databank/Star Wars Gamer#4 (fb)) - "Jaxxon was born on
Coachelle Prime, the homeworld of lagomorphic Lepi. A quiet home with a
dozen siblings could not hold Jaxxon back -- the rambunctious youth
spent many of his formative years in juvenile remand centers. At the age
of 12, Jaxxon ran away from home and fled to the stars on a stolen
starship.
The young Jaxxon landed on Nar Shaddaa, and spent the next few years
honing his streetwise survival skills and razor-sharp wit on the mean
streets of the vertical cities. He learned marksmanship working with a
cut-throat group of mercenaries from the Corus system. When the boys of
Corus broke up, Jaxxon turned to smuggling to make ends meet."
(Star Wars Gamer#4 (fb)) - Despite lacking
a formal education, he was well schooled in fringe culture and
possessed a razor wit.
(The
Clone Wars: Invitation Only - BTS) - During the
Clone Wars Jaxxon had a bounty on his head, and appeared on wanted
posters on various worlds.
(Star Wars Databank/Star Wars Gamer#4 (fb)) - "With what meager earnings he had, Jax purchased a modified Corellian WUD-500 star yacht, which he named the Rabbit's Foot. Plagued with mechanical problems, Jax set down on the distant world of Aduba-3 to enact repairs. Short on funds, he answered a call for hired guns needed to protect a small farming community from speeder-riding brigands."
(Star Wars I#8) - On the planet Aduba-3 Jaxxon heard
someone was recruiting spacers with combat experience to take down some
outlaws, Serji-X and his Cloud-Riders, that had been preying on an
isolated village. Interested in the potential payday, Jaxxon joined the
line of potential recruits being evaluated by smuggler Han Solo on
behalf of the villagers. After waiting patiently in line when it was
finally Jaxxon's turn a belligerent Boltrunian named Warto arrived and
tried to barge past him. When Jaxxon told him he was next Warto punched
him, so Jaxxon got back up and asked with exaggerated politeness that
Warto go to the back of the line. As expected, Warto rudely refused,
calling Jaxxon a rodent, at which point the Lepi kicked Warto hard in
the face, sending the Boltrunian crashing down the stairs. Witnessing
this, the impressed Solo told him he had the job.
The next morning Jaxxon met with Solo and the
other recruits outside the local spaceport. However, moments after they
all arrived so too did Serji-X and his Cloud-Riders, who had been
informed of their recruitment by Warto. As Jaxxon watched, the outlaw
leader tried to offer Solo a pay-off to abandon his job, then threatened
them and departed when Solo rebuffed him.
(Star Wars I#9 (fb) - BTS) - The group rode Banthas out to the
village, a day long ride during which Solo ignored Jaxxon's attempts to
make conversation.
(Star Wars I#9) - As they neared the end of
their journey Solo responded to a comment from his Wookie friend
Chewbacca, agreeing that it was too quiet. At this Jaxxon kvetched
that now Solo wanted to talk, prompting Solo to tell
him "you could be replaced on this mission, y'know Jax." Jaxxon
quipped back, asking "yeah? By who?", and pointed out that he'd
already scraped the bottom of a very low barrel to get the current
group, which, in addition to Solo, Chewbacca and Jaxxon, consisted of
gunslinger Amaiza Foxtrain, the spike-shooting Spiner Hedji, a
seemingly crazy old man who thought he was a Jedi going by the name
Don-Wan Kihotay, naive native youth Jimm Doshun and his tractor robot
FE-9Q, collectively nicknamed by Solo as the Star-Hoppers. As the
village came into sight the group spotted flying scavengers, a local
species called High-Hounds, attacking some of the farmers, so the
Star-Hoppers went into action, with Jaxxon duel firing both blasters
at once. As he punched a High-Hound that came too near Jaxxon flirted
with Amaiza, suggesting they team up and make beautiful music together
once the mission was done. Amaiza rebuffed his advance, suggesting
that if she hung out with someone who looked like a big green rabbit
people might start to talk. Once the High-Hounds were repelled the
Star-Hoppers were introduced to the villagers and began to settle in
and prepare for the Cloud-Riders' imminent attack.
After helping setting out
barricades that could be used for cover once the shooting started it
was Jaxxon who noticed the Cloud-Riders first, hearing them with his
superior Lepi ears before they came into sight. Battle commenced,
during which FE-9Q sacrificed itself by taking a shot intended for
Jimm. As Jaxxon fought beside Hedji he noticed that an elderly
villager, the "Old One," was making himself an easy target, standing
out in the open waving his arms around and chanting in some kind of
shamanic ritual. However, neither side of the conflict had the time to
bother about him. Solo called over to Jaxxon asking how his ammo was
holding out, and the Lepi reassured him that he wasn't complaining,
and even if he did run out of power he could always kick the bandits
out the sky. Just then the shaman ended his ritual, and to everyone's
surprise and horror, a giant Behemoth he'd been summoning ripped its
way out of a nearby mountain.
(Star Wars I#10) - The Star-Hoppers watched as Behemoth,
enormous and able to naturally fire energy bolts, smashed through the
Cloud-Riders, ignoring the village's defenders though it did send a
boulder flying their way unintentionally, forcing them to scatter. The
Serji-X tried to target the shaman, only for both to get crushed by the
Behemoth. No longer being directed, Jaxxon noted the creature seemed to
be getting more enraged, and suggested that it might now be less picky
about who it went for. Unwilling to tangle with the giant beast, Amaiza
suggested their job was done now the bandits had been beaten, but Solo
pointed out that if the Behemoth smashed the village there'd be no one
left to pay them. Deciding to act, Jaxxon climbed out from behind the
rocks they were using for cover, and, ignoring Amaiza's cries of
concern, made a dash for the monster while firing at it. However the
monster proved resistant, and blasted at him. Though Jaxxon evaded the
attack, some dislodged rocks knocked his gun from his hand. As he tried
to grab it Amaiza shouted at him to leave the weapon and seek cover.
Grabbing his weapon Jaxxon teased the gunslinger, asking if he heard
some affection in her voice, but then she grabbed him and yanked him
backwards, saving his life as a rock crashed down where he had just
been, part of a landslide triggered by the Behemoth. While Jaxxon joined
the rest of the group behind cover, Kihotay slipped around behind the
beast then stepped out into the open to draw its attention. Hedji ran
out to help Kihotay, only to be hit by a beam and slain. Figuring out
that the sabre was interfering with the creature's energy beams, Solo
snatched it from Kihotay and drove it directly into one of the
Behemoth's palms, and moments later the creature disintegrated. Jaxxon
joined the surviving Star-Hoppers to collect payment, and while Jimm
chose to stay at the village the others departed on their Banthas back
to town.
(Star Wars I#16
(fb) - BTS) - While most of the surviving Star-Hoppers went their
separate ways, Jaxxon and Amaiza decided to hang out together.
(Star
Wars I#16 - BTS) - Some months later a group of bounty hunters led by
Beilert Valance raided a medical facility, and found the ailing
Kihotay dying and delirious, mentioning his recent allies including
Jaxxon and Solo, but describing Jimm and FE-9Q as "the boy and his
droid." Mistakenly believing this referred to Solo's friend Luke
Skywalker, who like Solo had a large bounty on his head, the bounty
hunters began looking for the most distinctive of those mentioned,
Jaxxon, figuring he'd be easiest to find and would then lead them to
the ones they actually wanted.
(Star
Wars I#16 (fb) - BTS) - Jaxxon and Amaiza stopped on a planet to
get the Lepi's ship, the Rabbit's Foot, repaired. Thanks to
Amaiza's gambling skills, Jaxxon built up his small stake into
enough to pay for the work.
(Star Wars I#16) - While waiting for the ship to be fueled up, Jaxxon suggested the pair pop into town to celebrate, but Amaiza told him to go enjoy himself while she kept an eye on the ship. However, soon after he wandered off he walked into an ambush, walking under an electro-net that shocked him into unconsciousness. Waking up he found himself suspended upside down with an agony inducer hooked to his left ear. Identifying themselves as some of Valance's crew, his captors demanded the name of the planet where he had worked with Solo, but he refused to talk, even when they started to torture him. Rescue came swiftly, as Amaiza showed up, having luckily changed her mind about partying with Jaxxon that evening. She gunned the bounty hunters down, then told the still suspended Jaxxon that it was like being back on Aduba-3 with Han and the gang. Hearing her give away the planet name he'd avoided saying, Jaxxon told her he hoped none of his attackers were still alive, but unfortunately one was, and got away before Amaiza could kill him.
Aware that Jimm might now be in danger,
Jaxxon and Amaiza hastened back to Aduba-3 to warn him, landing the
Rabbit's Foot right outside the village. Though he expressed confusion
why bounty hunters might be after him, Jimm nevertheless listened as his
friends told him that the people coming were ruthless and might destroy
the village just for practice unless they made preparations fast.
(Star Wars I#16 (fb) - BTS) - They planned
to draw the hunters into the long grass near the village, then trigger
a Bantha stampede to crush them.
(Star Wars I#16) - To
give the villagers time to gather the Banthas Jaxxon and Amaiza went
back into orbit, to wait for Valance's ship to arrive. When it did, they
were intercepted by the Rabbit's Foot; complacent because it was an
N-Class freighter, a vessel that was normally unarmed, the bounty
hunters were nearly shot from the sky when the Foot opened fire, but
Valance ordered shields to be raised in time, correctly suspecting the
vessel to be modified. Giving chase, the bounty hunters fired on the
Rabbit's Foot until it suddenly plunged down to the planet. However this
was a ruse to draw the hunters in. As soon as they landed their vessel
in the long grass near the village the pair decamped and waited in
hiding. When the hunters landed and disembarked Amaiza and Jaxxon shot
at them to draw them into the grass, and then Jimm started the stampede.
As hoped, most of the hunters fell under the massive animals' feet,
though Jaxxon counseled his fellows to remain wary, since some were
bound to have survived. Sure enough, Valance tried to slip back to his
ship, but he was spotted and intercepted by Jaxxon, Amaiza and Jimm.
When Jaxxon demanded to know why the hunters were after the farmer,
Valance realized Jimm was not the subject of the bounty he wanted to
claim. He dropped his blaster, but when this caused the trio to lower
their guards slightly Valance surprised them by firing an energy bolt
directly from his hand (because he was secretly a cyborg). Reflexively
they all jumped out the way, but were still stunned long enough for
Valance to escape back to his ship and take off. Watching him depart,
the trio noted that while it might be over for them, it wasn't for Han's
friend who was being hunted by Valance.
(Star Wars I#108 (fb) - BTS) - Shortly after the fall of
the Empire Jaxxon and Amaiza took a bounty hunting job, seeking to
capture Domina Tagge, wanted for attempting to unleash the deadly
Crimson Forever Plague, after the fugitive resurfaced seeking to hire
smugglers for an unknown job.
(Star Wars I#108) - While pursuing their quarry on the
planet Stenos they ran into Han and Chewbacca, who were themselves being
pursued by other hunters after the bounty for rebel generals. Jaxxon and
Amaiza helped their old friends escape.
(Star Wars I#108 (fb) - BTS) - After hearing about Tagge
from Jaxxon and Amaiza, Han asked the pair to come back with him to
inform his friends about what they knew.
(Star Wars I#108) - The pair hitched a lift in Han's ship, the Millennium Falcon, to the New Republic planet Noquivzor, where they were met by Han's friends Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, R2-D2 and C3PO. Concerned Tagge might be trying again to spread the plague again, the group headed off in the Falcon to a wrecked Star Destroyer where the crystals that created the plague were hidden. When they emerged out of hyperspace the found the derelict destroyer caught in the gravity of a sun imminently due to go supernova, but also discovered as spaceship under Tagge's command trying to salvage the vessel. Suiting up to protect themselves from the plague, Jaxxon, Luke, Leia and R2-D2used the Falcon's escape pod to board the derelict, intending to remove the crystals before Tagge could claim them, but a boarding craft from Tagge's ship soon arrived, and so, heavily outnumbered, Jaxxon and the others fled deeper into the vessel. Jaxxon soon stumbled across the gems and took them, but then Tagge's people caught up. While Luke held them back, Jaxxon and Leia fled, coming to a broken bridge. With his powerful legs Jaxxon easily leapt over the gap, but then was overcome with avarice and declined to help Leia cross, deciding instead to steal the gems and sell them. Reaching the hanger Jaxxon commandeered an intact transport ship and tried to flee the vessel, seconds ahead of the pursuing Luke, Leia and R2. Before he could clear the hanger however his ship collided with an incoming vessel piloted by old foe Beilert Valance. When Jaxxon tried to shoot him the cyborg grabbed him, and was about to shoot him when Luke asked Valance to spare the Lepi. Since he and Luke had allied against Darth Vader when last they met (some time after Jaxxon encountered Valance), the cyborg did as asked, and informed Luke he had come for the crystals, since it was reputed they could restore his humanity. Hastily Jaxxon surrendered them. However, just as it looked like the crystals were beginning to regrow Valance's human body, Domina Tagge also arrived and shot him. Jaxxon watched as she fought Luke and Leia and threw the crystals off the ship, only to be brought down by the dying Valance, who then leapt off the vessel after the crystals, and was caught in the nearby sun's gravity.

The original Star Wars expanded media stories
were deemed "Legends" on April 25th 2014 when Disney bought Lucasfilm,
and so not canon - though elements of the Legends material, including
Jaxxon, soon seeped in, and we do continue to have occasional stories
set in the original timeline, including Star Wars I#108. This profile is
for the original version of Jaxxon, so new background info revealed in
current canon may not apply to him. However, if it does, then he has
named cousins including Arvi, Benji, Maxx, Peeta and Reegor, as well as
hundreds of other unidentified relatives. Additionally, his full name,
Jaxxon T. Tumperakki, was only revealed in the new material, so in
Legends he's only confirmed to be Jaxxon.
George Lucas famously hated Jaxxon (but Jar
Jar Binks was okay? C'mon George!), which is why he vanished from the
comic after only a few appearances. However, he's had somewhat of a
resurgence in recent years, albeit mostly in the new canon, not least
because kids who grew up with him are now old enough to be writing new
tales featuring him, and, of course, Lucas no longer owns Star Wars.
Could Star Wars be set in Reality-616, the same as the regular Marvel universe. We might get an answer in a few months time (as of the writing of this profile), since there was a crossover recently announced to start coming out in 2027, at which point we'll see if the characters encounter one another merely through space travel or via some sort of interdimensional/inter-reality travel. My money is on the latter though. But even if so, that would presumably be for the current Star Wars canon, not the Legends version. So, putting all those aside just for a moment, could any version of Star Wars be in the same reality as the Marvel characters? Making it easier to work, Star Wars is famously set "A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away" - so the distant past and across the universe from Earth. That would certainly explain why the Marvel characters have never run into them, barring some cheeky cameos. Earth has been mentioned in Star Wars, though only in Legends, and not all Legends shares the same continuity. It was visited in one Legends story which infamously also starred Indiana Jones, but since (a) that is not the same continuity as the original comics and (b) Jones seems to exist in 616 anyway, that doesn't rule it out. There was a crossover between Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, American Graffiti (!) and Tucker: The Man and His Dream (!!), where someone traveled between these tales via magic, but that was a stage show in Japan, though authorized and licensed by Lucasfilm, plus (even assuming it was the same continuity as the original Marvel comics) the magical travel means we can't tell whether she transported between realities or not. And of course there's a Jedi who looks suspiciously like Howard the Duck in Attack of the Clones. So basically, despite all this evidence, nothing solid to confirm or deny the original Marvel "Legends" Star Wars (or the new canon either) from being 616. However, with the upcoming crossover I suspect we'll either get the new canon confirmed as 616 or (more likely) that current canon Star Wars (and thus probably also Legends by default) is another reality, which means I'll take a punt and declare Marvel's original Star Wars as another reality:
Reality-1138 - A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away plucky rebels and their Jedi allies battled an evil Galactic Empire led by the Sith.
A
good amount of his backstory comes from the Star Wars Databank, formerly
hosted on the official Star Wars.com site and still accessible via
archive.org. Since the site is otherwise down, I've quoted what it said
rather than paraphrasing it, except of course where additional info was
added from other sources.
He claimed in Star Wars I#10 to be one of eighty children, but Star Wars Databank claimed he had a dozen siblings; Star Wars Gamer#4 clarified, confirming "he usually exaggerates the number for effect."
Despite subsequent appearances tending to forget, his feet are a lot longer than those of humans, as evidenced when he kicks Warto.
This profile was completed on
09/26/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the
Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event to represent
Star Wars.
