History: (Unbelievable Gwenpool I#18 (fb) - BTS) - Through unrevealed means, Gwendolyn and Teddy Poole were transported from their native home reality, in which costumed adventurers existed only in forms of entertainment, into the Prime Marvel Universe. The siblings were separated upon arrival and both of them initially believed the other to be deceased. Eventually, Teddy learned that Gwen had in fact survived and adapted to her new reality by becoming a costumed mercenary-for-hire known as Gwenpool. Still in shock after seeing his sister massacre several armed men without hesitation or mercy, Teddy was approached by Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Terrible Eye (Sarah) and Vincent Doonan from the alternate future reality of Earth-17217. They explained to him that in their future, his sister had used her powers to hurt numerous people and asked Teddy for help.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#19 (fb) - BTS) - Intending to stop Gwen from becoming evil in the first place, the visitors from the future paid Ted and Martha Poole, Earth-616 counterparts of Gwen and Teddy's parents, to rent their house and created inside it a portal meant to transport both Teddy and Gwen back to their home universe.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#16) - Teddy waited for Gwen to visit the reality-616 counterparts of her family and when she did, he pulled her inside the portal with no explanation, believing that both of them would finally end up back home.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#19 (fb) - BTS) - However, due to the unique nature of Gwen and Teddy's plane of origin, the siblings' home reality could not be reached and instead, the attempt transported them into a new pocket universe created from the melding of their memories.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#16) - While Gwen's memories of her time in the Prime Marvel Universe were suppressed, Teddy had remembered all of it. They appeared in the pocket universe some time prior to the incident in which they were originally sent into a different reality and Teddy believed that by keeping the truth from Gwen, they could avert it entirely and continue living their lives as normal. Having failed to graduate from high school, Gwen resumed her previous life of playing video games, reading comics and writing fan-fiction while having no day job. Her only scheduled activities were weekly pulls of the latest Marvel Comics from her local shop and a one-day-a-week scientific study that paid her $20 a week. Recreations of her parents continued to pressure Gwen to find a proper job, which Gwen was reluctant to do, as the string of failures had impacted her self-confidence. Her subconsciousness continued to remind her about the existence of other universes and the possibility of traveling between them and eventually, Gwen went into the lab of her research project at night and turned it up to eleven, creating a globe-shaped portal. Realizing what was going on, Teddy followed his sister and attempted to stop her from going through the portal. The portal collapsed, causing a violent shockwave, and Gwen realized that her actions were endangering both herself and her brother and decided to live closer to "reality."
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#17) - The next week, Gwen got a job selling concessions at a movie theater. However, her unique fourth-wall breaking abilities began to warp the pocket reality she was in. Gwen began noticing floating text, seeing her own thoughts in pink speech bubbles, and eventually was able to interact with the borders of the comic panels existing within the pocket universe. Experimenting with the new manifestation of her powers at home, Gwen began thinking up an endless stream of consciousness, which manifested as a huge thought bubble that filled her entire room and pushed her out of the second-story window. This put her in a hospital, where the doctors suspected a possible suicide attempt. Teddy was left to watch over his sister and his strange behavior gave Gwen a reason to suspect that he knew more than he shared. The moment she was left alone, Gwen continued to experiment with her new understanding of the comic book-like universe she was in, eventually breaking out of the pocket universe entirely and causing her to fall into Gutter Space, a white void filled with the past pages of her own comic book.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#18) - After Gwen had disappeared from the hospital, her parents and Teddy returned to her room in their house and began searching for her. Meanwhile, Gwen was able to observe Teddy's past interaction with the visitors from Earth-17217 through the Gutter Space, gaining both all memories of her time in the Prime Marvel Universe back and a new understanding of the reality she and Teddy had ended up in. After taking a spare Gwenpool costume from an extra in a past issue of her comic, she used the Gutter Space to enter her room in the pocket universe and confronted Teddy about his plan to get her back to the "real world." When her "parents" entered the room, Gwen simply tore up the page, revealing a view from the pocket universe back into the Prime Marvel Universe and showing to Teddy that they had in fact never made it back home.
(Unbelievable Gwenpool I#19) - After explaining to Teddy that the "parents" they were leaving behind were never real, Gwen pulled him though the portal, ending up on Liberty Island back in the Prime Marvel Universe. There, she was immediately confronted by Spider-Man, Terrible Eye and Vincent Doonan from Earth-17217, who had realized that their plan to send Gwenpool back home and prevent her from becoming her evil future self had failed.

A recreation of Gwen's mother from her original reality, Marta Poole pushed Gwen to find a real job instead of her one-day-a-week gig, which she believed to be a sleep study.

A recreation of Gwen's father from her original reality, Ted Poole brought home some job postings for Gwen to apply to. After she mentioned working on her fanfic but was forced to confess to have not even started it, Ted berated his "daughter" for not being able to commit to something she cared about, causing her to break into tears and leave home to visit her project lab instead.
Ted approved of Gwen's new job after she started working in a movie theater and as a present got her charity tickets for the upcoming New York Comic Con. After Gwen fell through her window, Ted and Martha took her to the hospital.
