History: (AXIS: Carnage#1 (fb) - BTS) - Alice Gleason was a successful newscaster working at the CVN. She was in a sexual relationship with her colleague Chris Rollins, which was known to the rest of their coworkers.
(AXIS: Carnage#1) - After Chris was gunned down by Sin-Eater, Alice delivered a tearful report of his death live on air. Once the cameras were off, her boss Frank offered his condolences, but Alice dismissed them, saying that she had no feelings for Chris and that he had embarrassed her by being found in a massage parlor. Boasting that she only let the tears out for the ratings, Alice asked for her late boyfriend's job of covering superhero news, which even her boss found cold. As Rollins' murder had followed that of another newscaster, Alice was issued police protection.
(AXIS: Carnage#1 - BTS) - Unbeknownst to Alice, her broadcast was watched by Carnage, recently morally inverted and now trying to become a good guy. Believing her on-screen emotions to be genuine, Carnage decided that Alice could teach him the meaning of being a hero.
(AXIS: Carnage#1) - Alice returned home and offered a drink to the NYPD officer accompanying her. He was then killed by the Sin-Eater who had been hiding inside the apartment. Recognizing the Sin-Eater, Alice tried to get him to leave her alone by claiming that she was a good person and by promising to make him a star. The Sin-Eater replied that she stank of hubris, selfishness, and vainglory, but before he could execute her, Carnage burst through the window and blew up Sin-Eater's head with his own shotgun. Upon seeing another famous serial killer, Alice screamed and fainted, and Carnage carried her away just as the Sin-Eater got back up. Alice woke up tied to the Brooklyn Bridge and screamed as Carnage asked for her help.
(AXIS: Carnage#2) - Carnage, still new to being a hero, initially refused to let Alice go, saying that she would run away. Alice promised not to do that and to teach Carnage how to be a hero in exchange for Carnage promising not to hurt her. Carnage agreed, and Alice asked him to take them to a church, where Carnage mistook a grave digger for a grave robber and attacked him until Alice told him to stop. Alice then told Carnage to confess his sins to God and recorded him on video, which she sent to her boss. They left the church and came across a bank robbery, which Carnage stopped by throwing a flaming car at the bank. Alice chastised him and told Carnage to put out the fire, something he did by ripping out a fire hydrant. The police showed up, and Carnage picked Alice and left, not wanting to sign autographs. His web got caught by a police helicopter's blade, causing Carnage to drop Alice, though he used his tendrils to slow her fall. The moment she was on the ground, the Sin-Eater put Alice in his car and drove away.
(AXIS: Carnage#3) - The Sin-Eater took Alice to his hideout in the sewers, where she saw the newspaper clippings on the original Sin-Eater's case and assumed him to be Emil Gregg. The Sin-Eater removed his balaclava, revealing a ghostly skull, and promised to cleanse her soul of sins at the cost of her life. Alice failed to talk him down and was saved by Carnage, who dragged her out with his tendril. The Sin-Eater followed and absorbed Carnage's sins, growing to gigantic size, until the sins overwhelmed him and he exploded. Alice picked up Sin-Eater's shotgun and blasted Carnage with it, then ran towards the police while he regenerated. Carnage was hurt by her broken promise, but Alice said that it was a lie and that nobody was a fully good person. Alice then urged the police to shoot Carnage and keep firing even as he fled the scene.
Comments: Created by Rick Spears and German Peralta. The story strongly implies that this Sin-Eater is the ghost of the recently deceased Emil Gregg. However, the King in Black Handbook does not confirm their connection when recapping the events of the series, and so neither does this profile.
