History: (Superior Avengers#4 (fb) - BTS) - Born in a future where Doom's tyrannical reign was absolute, Ava Starr was imprisoned in one of his Negative Zone facilities at age 14, where she spent over a decade and gave birth to a son. Ghost, the prison's paranoid warden, subjected them to cruelties and indignities, and Ava dreamed of killing her every night.

(Superior Avengers#4 (fb)) - Doom's Acolytes betrayed and killed him, which nullified his protective magic that kept Annihilus in check. The prison shook, scaring Ava's son, and Ghost ordered the prisoners back to their cells, executing those who did not obey. Ava shielded her son and, when Ghost was briefly distracted, lunged at her and ripped off her mask and respirator. Ava killed Ghost just as gigantic Annihilus shattered the prison's ceiling.

Ava donned Ghost's suit, but before she could master its controls, Annihilus unleashed a swarm of Annihilation drones. One drone invaded Ava's son's body and took over his mind.

(Superior Avengers#4 (fb) - BTS) - Not knowing whether her son could be saved, Ava used Ghost's suit to impersonate her among Doom's surviving Acolytes, maintaining her cover for months while forced to stand by during their atrocities. Ava also accessed the suit's archives with Ghost's files on the Acolytes.

The Acolytes were transported into the past of Earth-616 by that era's Kristoff Vernard, who was using his father's Time Platform to search for champions from the futures in which Doom's reign over the planet had flourished. Unaware of the Acolytes' treachery, Vernard assembled them into the team of Superior Avengers as living proof of Doom's vision. The Acolytes played along, viewing Kristoff as the means to their end: To secretly obtain enough magical energy to power the Arcane Warhead and use it to reclaim their future from Annihilus.

(Superior Avengers#1 (fb) - BTS) - Using Ghost's portals to access the Negative Zone, the Superior Avengers claimed the then-abandoned Prison 42 for themselves, safe from the eyes of Doom. Doctor Octopus created Cuttlefish Drones, adaptive robotic duplicates of the team to allow them to slip from under Vernard's observation.

(Superior Avengers#1) - Two weeks after their arrival, the Superior Avengers were dispatched to deal with an attack by Reality-616's Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave on the United States Capitol. While the rest of the team defeated Annihilus and his drones, Ghost was tasked with retrieving a magical artifact from the Capitol Building.

The next day, Kristoff Vernard presented the team to the press at the Capitol, praising them as superior to contemporary heroes. Afterwards, they returned to their quarters in Doomstadt. Ghost opened a portal to the Negative Zone, and the team went there to add her haul to the rest of the hoard.

(Superior Avengers#2) - The Superior Avengers entered Prison 42, where Doctor Octopus added the enchanted compass' magical charge to the Arcane Warhead.

Ghost and Doctor Octopus helped save civilians from a fire.

After a mass villain breakout at the Raft, Superior Avengers were tasked with tracking and apprehending the prisoners. They subdued Diablo in the Yucatán Peninsula and returned to Castle Doom, where Ghost slipped away and spied on Killmonger and Vernard as they engaged in lovemaking.

(Superior Avengers#4 (fb) - BTS) - Ghost hacked one of Doctor Octopus' cuttlefish drones and reprogrammed it to act as her decoy.

(Superior Avengers#3 - BTS) - The Superior Avengers were called to deal with the escaped Graviton (Franklin Hall), and Ghost secretly sent the reprogrammed drone in her place. The team tangled with the true Avengers of Earth-616, and Vision accidentally blasted a hole through "Ghost."

(Superior Avengers#4 - BTS) - Recognizing that Ghost had betrayed them, Superior Avengers quickly finished their business with the real Avengers and rushed back to Latveria.

(Superior Avengers#4) - Finally away from her "teammates," Ava Starr sneaked up on Vernard and phased him through the floor for a private conversation. She revealed to him her face and name, but Kristoff did not trust her, suspecting a power ploy. Ava told him how the Superior Avengers had betrayed and killed Doom in her timeline, revealing what she had learned about them from Ghost's files and their plans for the Arcane Warhead.

To save her future, Ava required present Doom's help, but Kristoff feared admitting failure to his father. Ava slapped him, demanding he own his mistakes as the fate of the world was at stake.

(Superior Avengers#4 - BTS) - The rest of the Superior Avengers confirmed Ghost's absence and concluded that she had likely sold them out. Doctor Octopus revealed that she had secretly duplicated Ghost's portal technology, and Killmonger provoked Earth-616 Annihilus into attacking Wakanda.

(Superior Avengers#5) - Kristoff and Ava traveled to Wakanda, where Ghost stayed out of sight as Killmonger reported a successful victory against the Annihilation Wave. Killmonger then stabbed Vernard with Skybreaker, a sacred Wakandan blade, to provoke Doom into a war with Wakanda and distract him from the Superior Avengers' true mission. After they left through a portal, Ava removed the blade from Kristoff's chest. He healed himself with magic and prepared to follow the Superior Avengers, having taken Ava's words to heart.

(Superior Avengers#6) - Kristoff and Ava traveled through a portal to Kristoff's laboratory in Doomstadt and saw the Superior Avengers battling Annihilus from their future - who had been hiding inside Abomination all along. Killmonger allowed Doctor Octopus to die to buy herself time to escape, and Ava went after her. As Killmonger rushed towards the time platform to escape this era, Ava intercepted her and phased her into a sealed air pocket thirty feet underground.

Killmonger lunged at Ava with a blade, which she effortlessly phased through. Killmonger finally realized that she was not dealing with the real Ghost, and Ava opened her faceplate, telling Killmonger that this was her punishment for the horrors she and the Acolytes had inflicted upon others. Ghost then levitated back up and ran away from Castle Doom, followed only by Killmonger's empty threats.

Comments: Created by Steve Foxe, Luca Maresca and Kyle Hotz.

Ghost (Ava Starr) is based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Ghost who debuted in the 2018 film Ant-Man and the Wasp, portrayed by actress Hannah John-Kamen. Her physical characteristics are approximated for Ava Starr of Earth-52635.

On Earth-199999, Ava Starr is the daughter of Elihas Starr, commonly (but not in that reality) known as Egghead. Whether Earth-52635 Ava Starr has any relation to her reality's Elihas is unrevealed, as they would be separated by several generations.
