History: (What The--?! I#14) - Forbush, P.I. was sitting in his office reading the newspaper's financial page and decided to exit the broccoli stock and invest everything into pork bellies. His secretary announced that he had a client, and in walked a gorgeous model Sharon Share-Alike. Forbush immediately started flirting with her, only for Sharon to pull out a gun and fire at him. Forbush gracefully moved so that the bullet hit his helmet and ricocheted back, disarming the woman. Sharon then showed the signs of being brainwashed, and Forbush set out to investigate his own attempted murder.

After talking to various contacts yielded him nothing, Forbush resorted to asking one-eyed Jack Daniels, whom he usually avoided because of his high charging rate. Forbush found Jack in his home, the dumpster behind a brewery, and learned that someone in the sewers had wanted him dead. Jack also told him to beware someone before he fell asleep, freeing Forbush from the need to pay him. Heeding Daniels' warning, Forbush brought a urinal puck deodorizing tablet with him into the sewers. He was attacked by Waste Not, Want Not, the Living Cesspool and threw the puck into his mouth, which caused the Living Cesspool to turn into Mr. Klean and run away. Forbush then faced the mastermind behind everything, the Sinister Grimacer.

Forbush was unable to piece together the Grimacer's plan, his brain being on fire after having taken Tylenol with a broken safety seal. Luckily, the Sinister Grimacer broke into a monologue, explaining that he planned to take over the world's broccoli market and had to kill Forbush, who could spot the stock manipulation. Forbush and the Grimacer fought, and Forbush ended up defeated, captured, and about to be cooked in his own pot.

Sharon Share-Alike, who felt guilt over trying to kill Forbush, then showed up and held Grimacer, her ex-boyfriend, at gunpoint. The two argued while Forbush kept cooking under the fire, until Sharon finally remembered Forbush and untied him. Forbush then lunged at the Sinister Grimacer and this time beat him up thoroughly, impressing Sharon.

(What The--?! I#14 - BTS) - These events were experienced in a dream by Forbush Man of Earth-665 after watching detective movies late into the night. He turned out to have been sleepwalking and had beat up his Auntie Mayhem instead of the Grimacer.

Comments: Created by Aaron Lopresti.

What The--?! I#14 was printed as a flip-over book: the back cover image that announced "Tin-Head Detective Stories featuring Forbush, P.I." could be opened to read his story in the intended way. Readers proceeding through the book from the front cover would find the panels of this story upside-down and a message urging them to turn the book around and read the "last" page first.

One of the contacts Forbush tried talking to was a comic artist overwhelmed with deadlines. I am assuming that this was meant to represent Aaron Lopresti himself, but I've been unable to find any photos of him from around 1990 to verify this.

While beating up the Sinister Grimacer, Forbush briefly turned into a cowboy, a ninja, and Wolverine. These could be considered the manifestations of the dream reality, though Forbush-Wolverine (Forbushwerine?) could still one day appear in another comic.

This profile was completed 09/03/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Solitaire's stories and characters.
