EARTH-8847
Type: Divergent Earth
Environment: Earth-like
Usual means of access: Presumably vibrational

Dominant Life Form: Dinosaurs
Significant Inhabitants: None identified
First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man III#12
(March, 2015)
History:
(Secret Wars: Official Guide to the Marvel Multiverse - Spider-Verse
entry (fb) - BTS) - Earth-8847 was a prehistoric reality (see
comments).
(Amazing Spider-Man III#12) - During a losing battle against the
Earth-001 Inheritor Solus, Earth-616's Spider-Man set his dimensional
transport bracelet to open a portal to a random reality and the
bracelet chose Earth-8847. Completely unaware of what reality his
Multiversal Spider-Army would be escaping to, Spider-Man-616 soon found
himself on Earth-8847, a reality populated by dinosaurs. The
Spider-Army briefly argued about what they had left behind while
escaping to Earth-8847 until Spider-Man-616 received a communication
from Earth-616's Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew). After confirming Drew's
safety, Spider-Man-616 reached out to check on Earth-1610's Spider-Man
(Miles Morales) and Earth-928's Spider-Man 2099, unaware that the
Inheritor Jennix was listening in on the communication and was fully
aware of the Army's Earth-8847 location. Jennix eventually interrupted
the communications to reveal his knowledge of their location before
sending his sister Verna and her brainwashed Hounds to Earth-8847. A
fierce battle between Verna and the Spider-Army quickly erupted and
during the fight, Jessica Drew managed to teleport a series of
Inheritor scrolls to Earth-8847.
(Spider-Woman V#3) - The scrolls appeared on
Earth-8847 on the ground near Spider-Man-616, much to his surprise.
(Amazing Spider-Man III#12) - The scrolls levitated
in front of the confused Spider-Man-616 and he deduced that Drew had
somehow sent them to Earth-8847 from Earth-001. Shortly after,
Spider-Man-616 received a communication from Earth-616's Silk
suggesting the Army visit Earth-3145 and with the Spider-Army again
fighting a losing battle against an Inheritor, Spider-Man-616 ordered
the Spider-Army to retreat from Earth-8847 to Earth-3145. As the
Spider-Army departed Earth-8847, Verna ordered her Hounds to retreat
and remarked that they would see how long the Spider-Army would last on
Earth-3145.
Comments: Created by Dan Slott, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Cam Smith.
The Spider-Verse entry in Secret Wars: Official Guide to the Marvel Multiverse describes Earth-8847 as a prehistoric Earth but I don't believe that is a truly accurate description. I mean, sure, Earth-8847 IS populated by prehistoric creatures like dinosaurs but we also see decaying, overgrown skyscrapers in the distance when the Spider-Army arrives on Earth-8847, suggesting not only that it's not entirely prehistoric since it has modern conveniences like skyscrapers, but also that it could be a reality in which something happened that plunged this reality back into a prehistoric-LIKE nature. This reality actually reminds me of Earth-989112, in which the entire world was terraformed to resemble the Savage Land. Given the similarities, it seems strange that Dan Slott chose to create a new reality in Amazing Spider-Man III#12 when Earth-989112 would have worked perfectly for that same story point, especially considering that Slott utilized a ton of previously seen spider-heroes from old What Ifs during the original Spider-Verse storyline...In fact, the overgrown skyscrapers on Earth-8847 mirror almost exactly the skyline of Earth-989112...
