History:
(Tales to Astonish I#2) - In 2058 Dunstan went on his first planetary hunting trip and sucessfully stunned 12 extraterrestrial creatures. When one of his friends remarked that they pitied the creatures Dunstan informed him he didn't pity the creatures at all because they were inferior to humans and "survival of the fittest" was the basic law of the universe.
In the following months Dunstan took several more hunting trips on extraterrestrial worlds, capturing more creatures for zoos. Other hunters were taken aback by Dunstan's lack of empathy for the creatures he hunted. During one hunting expedition the rocket's oxygen pressure regulator indicated there was too little oxygen to continue the expedition. The pilot, Carl, advised they return to Earth. The rest of the crew agreed but Dunstan dissented, claiming that if there wasn't enough oxygen to reach Earth they would all die in space. The others believed Carl had correctly calculated the amount of oxygen but Dunstan refused to accept it and left the rocket in a lifeboat to find a nearby habitable world.
Dunstan crashed the lifeboat landing on the planet; he was thrown from the wreckage but the craft was engulfed in flames, taking all supplies with it. Dunstan dragged himself to a city he saw on the horizon and was at first pleased to see people stepping out to welcome him - but they proved to be hunters and they selected Dunstan to be an exhibit in their zoo. Dunstan tried to demonstrate his intelligence to the extraterrestrials but they couldn't understand his language and put him in a cage.
One day, the zookeeper forgot to lock Dunstan's cage. That evening Dunstan escaped from his cage and went back into the wilderness where his lifeboat crashed. He hoped that someone would come in search of him and rescue him from the planet. Having learned what it was like to be considered an unintelligent creature he vowed he would never hunt another living creature again.
