History:
(Transformers (UK) I#115 (fb) - BTS) - Cindy Newell lived in
Pennsylvania and attended a local university. She earned a Ph.D in
geological sciences and therefore had a broad perspective in her field.
(Transformers (UK) I#115) - Cindy and her friends Corrinne and Judy
were heading to Oregon to explore the volcano Mount Verona. Their van
overturned on the way; Cindy and Judy managed to escape but Corrinne
was trapped inside. Newell tried to free her friend but the door
jammed. Judy tried to convince Cindy to run, as the van was burning and
could explode at any moment. This, however, did not stop Cindy. The
Autobot Ultra Magnus, who came from the future timeline Earth-88945,
heard Corrinne's cries for help and rescued her. Shifting into vehicle
mode, the Cybertronian decided to give the girls a ride to Mount
Verona. Along the way, Ultra Magnus told them about Transformers and
the Autobot faction. The mention of the word "volcano" brought up
images of Operation: Volcano, during which his friend had died. Cindy
asked
what was wrong and tried to explain the meaning of the word but Ultra
Magnus replied that he knew it and preferred not to share the sad story
from the past. She then asked the Autobot to cheer up.
On their way, Cindy and her friends
witnessed a large forest fire.
Fearing that the fire would reach a nearby town, Cindy convinced Magnus
to cut down trees and stop the fire from spreading. While the
Transformer was busy, Galvatron appeared and asked where Ultra Magnus
was. Newell, mistaking the villain for Magnus' ally, gave him his
location but only later realized her mistake and rushed to tell Ultra
Magnus about it.
(Transformers (UK) I#116) - When Galvatron struck, Cindy fled in panic,
blaming herself for the Autobot's predicament. Deep in the forest,
Cindy was surrounded by fire. Other Transformers soon appeared: Rodimus
Prime, Kup and Blurr, who had also arrived from the
future. Cindy was frightened and mistook these Autobots for enemies but
Rodimus assured her that they were the only ones capable of defeating
Galvatron.
(Transformers (UK) I#117) - Despite this, Cindy remained skeptical of
her new acquaintances. She accused Rodimus' team of inaction. Kup and
Blurr responded that an attack on Galvatron needed to be planned, not
carried out blindly. Cindy calmed down and once again asked them to do
everything to save Magnus, reminding them of the Autobot's heroic deed
of saving Corrinne.
(Transformers (UK) I#118) - While the Autobots battled Galvatron atop
Mount Verona, Cindy Newell ran to the incapacitated Ultra Magnus and
attempted to revive him by tapping his faceplate.
When
the Freelance Peacekeeping Agent Death's Head traveled to Earth to
claim the bounty Rodimus Prime had placed on Galvatron, Cindy hid from
Death's
Head behind Magnus' body. The robot soon awoke and Cindy
explained what
had happened.
(Transformers (UK) I#119) - When the Autobots gathered together, Newell
revealed
her theories regarding Galvatron's plans involving the energy siphon
and the volcano (unknowingly glimpsing Earth-91978
events while speculating): to converse it into power that he could absorb.
Before the final confrontation with Galvatron, Ultra Magnus asked his
human friend to
leave as soon as possible. She tried to convince the Autobot to refuse
to participate in the potentially suicidal mission but Magnus
insisted. Saddened and angry, Newell left.
(Transformers (UK) I#137 - BTS) - Cindy Newell returned to her home in
Pennsylvania.
(Transformers (UK) I#137) - At night, Cindy dreamed of
Ultra Magnus
battling Galvatron and begging for help before losing, unknowingly
glimpsing events that occurred on Earth-31288.
Cindy jumped up
and stared at the television screen. The news reported on two enormous
robots buried in Verona. Recognizing Ultra Magnus and Galvatron, she
was shocked. As soon as she could, she traveled to the Oregon volcano
and stumbled upon a gathering of soldiers, scientists and journalists
near the crater. One of the soldiers grabbed her but released her
seconds later when Susan Hoffman intervened. As Newell began explaining
that she had come to free Ultra Magnus, the Combaticons and Soundwave
struck the volcano. The Decepticons, who had arrived to destroy
Galvatron, pushed the people aside. Cindy spotted Goldbug and Rollbar
but they decided not to interfere with the Decepticons' plan and
declared their willingness to sacrifice Magnus to destroy Galvatron.
The Autobots left but Cindy decided to take matters into her own hands.
(Transformers (UK) I#138) - She teamed up with Susan Hoffman and
journalist Joy Meadows. The women, using a tank and a military jeep,
incapacitated Swindle. Before taking action, Cindy recounted the clash
between Ultra Magnus and Galvatron, as well as her friendship with the
former. Joy and Cindy returned to the tank and fired at the
Combaticons. The blast was so powerful that it knocked the tank back.
Fortunately, none of the women were injured. Goldbug and Rollbar
arrived with reinforcements. Minutes earlier, the Autobots, despite
their decision to leave, decided they should return because human lives
could be in danger. When the enemy retreated, the heroes told the trio
that it was bad to mess with the Decepticons.

The British Transformers series began as a reprint of its American counterpart. However, starting with #9, new stories exclusive to the UK market began to be produced. These stories were woven around the American stories. Consequently, for a considerable period, they operated within the same continuity and served to complement it. Everything changed in 1987 with Transformers (UK) #118. Since the G.I. Joe and the Transformers limited series had not yet been released on the British market at that time, it was completely disregarded. As a result, a new set of circumstances was presented regarding Bumblebee's demise and his subsequent reconstruction as Goldbug—a plot that heavily contradicts the events depicted in the American comics. G.I. Joe and the Transformers was eventually published in Transformers (UK) #265-281, where it was implicitly referred to as an alternate continuity, accompanied by the editor's note: "Look out for the US version of the birth of Goldbug." Marvel UK subsequently produced its own crossover with G.I. Joe in Transformers #125 and Action Force #24-27 (a storyline that, obviously, completely ignores the American crossover). This divergence has resulted in the existence of two distinct, yet largely similar, continuities: Earth-91274, representing the original American Transformers (as well as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero) comic series and Earth-120185, representing its British counterpart. Within the Transformers multiverse, these realities are officially designated as Primax 984.0 Gamma and Primax 984.20 Gamma, respectively.
The Autobots and Galvatron encountered by Cindy Newell do not originate from Earth-120185 but rather from an alternate future designated as Earth-88945, a timeline based around the events similar to those seen in the animated film The Transformers: The Movie. Marvel published an adaptation of the film in a limited series of the same name; however, this adaptation is not set on Earth-88945, but within its own continuity, designated as Earth-86154.
Although there are instances where characters from The Transformers
comic series became the property of Marvel, this does not apply to
Cindy Newell and her friends. Circuit Breaker made a cameo appearance
in Secret Wars II
#3 prior to her full debut and Death's Head previously appeared in a
one-page backup strip High Noon Tex;
this allowed Marvel to claim ownership of these characters despite their
ties to The Transformers,
whereas, per the terms of the contract, all characters who debuted firmly
in The Transformers comic series
became the property of Hasbro.
Ultra Magnus is ultimately freed from the lava in
#161 through the efforts of the Sparkler Mini-Bots but without any
involvement from Cindy Newell.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Earth-120185's Cindy Newell should be
distinguished from:
Earth-31299 was a reality in which Ultra Magnus battled Galvatron, only to begin losing the fight and desperately cry out to Cindy Newell for help. He was then presumably killed by Galvatron. These Earth-31288 events were glimpsed in a dream by Earth-120185's Cindy Newell.
--Transformers (UK) I#137
Earth-91978 was a reality in which a massive eruption on Mount Verona, triggered by Galvatron, created a subterranean shockwave that set off a chain reaction that ignited volcanoes across the USA's west coast, causing destruction and the deaths of thousands. Earth-91978 was glimpsed by Earth-120185's Cindy Newell when she hypothesized about Galvatron's plans in her home reality and their most likely consequences.
