History:
(
Kathy#7/2 (fb) - BTS) - Brunhilda was the sister of Gina and cousin of Kathy Carter. Though they hadn't seen each other in years, Kathy knew Brunhilda wore glasses, enjoyed playing chess and liked to discuss politics (see comments). Now in her mid-teens, Brunhilda had grown into a extremely beautiful young lady, far prettier than her sister.

A short while after Kathy moved to Midville (see comments) Brunhilda arranged to visit Kathy, who offered to show her the town when she arrived.

(Kathy#7/2 - BTS) - Brunhilda got to her cousin's house to learn that two of Kathy's rival would-be suitors, Ace Arnold and Ricky Brown, had come round earlier in the day asking for a date. Kathy had initially declined because of her promise to show Brunhilda around, but then got the idea of doing a double date. When the boys asked what Brunhilda looked like, Kathy had simply said she wore glasses and was into politics and chess, prompting them to assume she would be unattractive and each try to get the other to tale Brunhilda, so the decision had been made via a coin toss, which Ricky had lost.

(Kathy#7/2) - When the two boys turned up for the date, Ricky was immediately smitten with the attractive Brunhilda, who in turn clearly liked what saw. As Ricky struggled to form a coherent sentence, Brunhilda hurriedly suggested that Kathy take Ace out to see the town while she and Ricky stayed behind to get cozy and "talk about... politics." Ace and Kathy departed, leaving Brunhilda alone with Ricky, but almost immediately returned because Kathy suddenly regretted leaving one of the boys she liked alone with her cousin. As they walked back in the door only minutes after leaving and Kathy announced they were back, an amused Brunhilda jokingly retorted "How nice dear! Were you away?" Kathy then planted her self on the sofa on the opposite side of Ricky from Brunhilda. Apparently recognizing that her cousin was staking her claim, Brunhilda announced that it was time for her to go. Before she left she mentioned that Gina was coming to town the next day, and asked if Kathy could find her a nice date too. Insisting it was his turn now, Ace jumped at the opportunity.

Over the run of Kathy issues we meet a number of her relatives. However, we don't know what side of the family they belong to, nor what side Brunhilda belongs to. As such, they might also be Brunhilda's relatives - heck, one of Kathy's uncles might be Brunhilda and Gina's father - but they might also be completely unrelated. These relatives of Kathy, and thus perhaps Brunhilda, include Uncle Bunkle, Uncle Joe, and Great-Uncle Philpot (her father's uncle).

We don't know where Brunhilda and Gina live, but given they both were able to visit Kathy in Midville on consecutive nights, that suggests it must have been close, presumably within driving distance of that town. If they'd been on holiday in the area, you'd expect them to visit Kathy together, perhaps even with their parents; conversely, if they lived in Midville she wouldn't be expecting Kathy to show her the town. Kathy hadn't seen Brunhilda in years and only moved to Midville shortly before the start of her series, so presumably wherever she'd lived before had been a greater distance away from Brunhilda.

Kathy being aware of Brunhilda's glasses, politics interest and chess playing despite not having seen each other in years might mean that all those things were true of Brunhilda from a young age, but it's also possible they were more recent developments Kathy knew about via phone calls or correspondance.

Kathy#14 has a guest appearance from Patsy Walker (official height: 5'8"), and the issue shows Patsy is almost exactly the same height as Kathy. Kathy in turn matches Ricky in height, and Ricky is shown to be just slightly taller than Brunhilda.

Since Kathy has met Patsy and Hedy, she's presumably a resident of Earth-616. There fact that we learned during in Defenders volume 1 that Patsy Walker's teenage stories were fictionalized comic book versions of her life doesn't change that, since the assumption is that the majority of the events depicted are broadly true in 616 too, and we know for a fact that the majority of characters who featured in Patsy's teen comics are real people in 616, since we've seen them in modern-era stories too. And so if Kathy is 616, then so presumably is Brunhilda. Additionally, while some comics that were published prior to the debut of the Fantastic Four might remain set in the era they were published, Patsy is part of the sliding timescale, and thus so too is Kathy and by extension Brunhilda.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Brunhilda has no known connections to:

Gina

Gina was Brunhilda's sister, who visited Kathy the day after her sister, and went on a double date with Kathy. Gina's date was Ace, who'd jumped at the chance because he thought Gina would be as attractive as her sister. While he visibly regretted volunteering, Gina clung to his arm and informed Kathy that she liked Midville so much she might stay for six months.
