Powers/Abilities/Functions: Apart from its blue color, there was seemingly nothing out of the ordinary about the orange juice. It was chilled in the fridge, freshly squeezed and a guaranteed thirst quencher that provides vital nutrients like vitamin C.

History:

(Avengers Forever I#8 (fb) - BTS) - Desperate to keep the Avengers and Force Works occupied, Immortus launched a massive campaign in which he posed as Kang the Conqueror with Space Phantoms taking on the form of Mantis and several of the heroes' associates. One of the Space Phantoms assumed the shape of Gustav Brandt, now calling himself Moonraker. He was placed among Force Works, the team co-founded by Iron Man, who had already become Immortus' thrall.

(Force Works I#18 (fb) - BTS) - To facilitate Moonraker's infiltration into Force Works, their headquarters was contaminated with high levels of temporal radiation emanating from the Works' sub-basement levels. As a result of the chronal poisoning, people's sense of linear time became disrupted, turning reality into a hazy, dreamlike concept.

(Force Works I#21 (fb) - BTS) - As part of his powerset, the Space Phantom posing as Moonraker was granted the ability to negate recent events, essentially rewriting time on the fly in a small area around him.

(Force Works I#16) - After an invigorating early morning training session in the Works' virtual simulator, Spider-Woman and her lover Moonraker went to have breakfast. She offered to cook him an omelet with chives, along with some fresh orange juice. Carpenter grabbed the pitcher out of the fridge and put it on the table, blissfully unaware that the fruit juice was blue. When Julia turned away, Slade wondered what happened to the orange juice because there were only empty glasses on the table. He got up and took the pitcher of juice out of the cooler again, with Carpenter chalking up the obvious incongruence to getting forgetful or being too distracted by love.

(Force Works I#16 - BTS) - Julia Carpenter began to crack eggs to make her omelet.

(Force Works I#16) - Slade Truman was sipping the blue orange juice, bantering about missing his notoriously difficult teammate USAgent who was off on his own. Julia turned away from the stove for a second to share in the laugh, only to find all the eggs she had cracked into the bowl were now whole again and back in the carton they came in. Perplexed but dulled by the temporal effects, Julia did not make a fuss and continued to make breakfast.

"It was a cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen." I'm not saying the opening act of The crossing rivals the opening line of George Orwell's literary classic 1984, but the way Abnett and Lanning managed to convey there was something very much off about Force Works' new status quo was expertly handled. It was all the little clues like the blue OJ that made the presence of this new teammate Moonraker feel all the more disconcerting.

    Sometimes, the devil *is* in the details... Either that or it was a simple coloring error that slipped past editorial. You can blame Immortus either way! 

    This profile was completed 07/19/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Force Work's characters and stories.
