History:
(Dexter I#4 (fb) – BTS) - An unidentified FBI agent was assigned to pose as a homeless alcoholic named Arthur Bleek to get closer to philanthropist Steve Gonzalez and his New Hope Foundation, who had been suspected of coercing homeless and addicted people into labor to build a private resort called Mar Dorado. To maintain the "Arthur Bleek" persona, a fake, expired New Jersey driver's license was fabricated.

(Dexter I#3 (fb) – BTS) - Arthur Bleek signed power of attorney over to Steve Gonzalez, which Gonzalez used to avoid paying exploited homeless and addicted people to work on his resort.

(Dexter I#2 (fb) – BTS) - Arthur Bleek attended evening sessions at the foundation. On the day of his death, he attended a session run by Deveaux.

(Dexter #1 (fb) – BTS) - Upon learning that Arthur Bleek was actually a federal agent, Gonzalez killed him with a knife in the back and dumped his body in water. He then left it on the street a couple of blocks away from the foundation building. The body was discovered by two homeless men and police soon arrived, including Dexter Morgan and his adoptive sister, Deborah Morgan.

(Dexter I#1) - Police identified the deceased as Arthur Bleek based on the expired driver's license. After examining the body, Dexter noted that not only had Bleek spent some time in the water but also that there was no blood underneath or in the fabric, indicating he had been killed elsewhere, not on the street. Deborah wondered what the point of pulling the body out of the water and dragging it on the street was, to which Dexter replied that such a thing was usually done to issue a statement and a warning.

(Dexter I#2) - Dexter continued to examine Arthur Bleek's body, suspecting Steve Gonzalez and the New Hope Foundation of involvement in the death.
Deborah and Dexter later visited Steve Gonzalez's office to report Arthur Bleek's death and to find out more details. Gonzalez expressed regret and pretended not to be involved in the crime. Although Deborah was confident of him being not guilty, he failed to convince Dexter of his innocence.

(Dexter I#3) - Steve Gonzalez attempted to frame Deveaux as Arthur Bleek's killer and Deveaux became Deborah's main suspect. Dexter conducted his own investigation and broke into Gonzalez's office at night, where he found Arthur Bleek's file and power of attorney inside, confirming his suspicions that Steve's hands were not clean.

Comments: Created by Jeff Lindsay and Dalibor Talajic.

The Dexter franchise began in 2004 with the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. A sequel, Dearly Devoted Dexter, followed in 2005 but it was the television adaptation that premiered on Showtime in 2006 that brought Dexter worldwide popularity. The second book was followed by six more while the television series ran for eight seasons until 2013. The series subsequently spawned two sequels and a prequel. In addition to all of the above, the franchise also includes comic books written by Lindsay himself. Marvel Comics released two limited series, Dexter (2013) and Dexter: Dawn Under (2014), which the author firmly placed into the novels' continuity. The first limited series expands on the flashbacks in the novel Dexter in the Dark by expanding on Dexter and Steve Gonzalez's high school years and introducing Steve Gonzalez as a full-fledged character.

Since Arthur Bleek was an undercover FBI agent, it is highly unlikely that this was his real name nor would an FBI agent have an expired driver's license.
