History:
(Domino II#4 (fb) - BTS) - While voluntarily participating with the
government's top secret genetic breeding experiment, Beatrice was
artificially inseminated multiple times to produce a mutant offspring
that the government could develop into a genetic weapon. While many of
the offspring were killed due to either not possessing the mutant gene
or not surviving the rigorous testing, Beatrice ultimately gave birth
to a daughter within the Project: Armageddon complex that, while she
survived the testing for mutant abilities, was also ultimately deemed a
failure. Suffering from dementia and unable to take the experiments any
longer, Beatrice escaped Project: Armageddon, leaving behind her
catatonic daughter and a cryogenically preserved embryo that was
cataloged for future government experimentation.
(Domino II#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Beatrice
was apparently arrested and a mugshot photo of her was taken during the
booking (see comments).
(Domino II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Beatrice was
institutionalized due to her dementia but she ultimately escaped the
institution and ultimately drifted into the Armajesuits cult, an
organization determined to protect society from itself. Once a part of
the cult, Beatrice killed her way up to the position of cult leader.
(Domino II#1 (fb) - BTS) - As time passed, Beatrice
went deep into hiding with almost all traces of her existence wiped
from records.
(Domino II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Eventually, Beatrice sent
Armajesuits to steal her daughter away from Project: Armageddon, hoping
her daughter might see her vision of society's future and assist in
"saving" society, and the daughter was placed in the custody of
sympathetic priest Father Rudolpho Boschelli in Chicago, Illinois.
Keeping updated on her daughter over the years, Beatrice learned that
the girl remained catatonic until her mutant powers surfaced and she
fled the church in fear of her own powers.
(Domino II#2 (fb) - BTS) - As an adult, Beatrice's daughter, now known as the government operative and mercenary Domino, retained only a vague memory of Beatrice, a woman who Domino was unsure was even her mother or not.
(Domino II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Over the years learning that Domino had not embraced her "clear" vision of society and instead used her mutant luck powers to guide her life, Beatrice determined Domino was of no use to the Armajesuits' plans for the world and she began shifting her focus towards acquiring the son that had resulted from the cryogenically preserved embryo to use as her "ultimate" weapon.
(Domino II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Still vaguely recalling
the woman who may or may not have been her mother and wishing for her
life to be more than her mercenary work, Domino sought to find out more
information about her mother.
(Domino II#1 (fb) - BTS) - Domino took a job for Jonathan Shepherd in exchange for information on her seemingly long-lost mother.
(Domino II#1) - After completing the work for Shepherd, Domino was given her payment, which involved a cryptic note, a plane ticket to Atlanta, Georgia and a computer printout of a mugshot of Beatrice, Domino's supposed mother. As Domino flew to Atlanta, one of robed Armajesuits rushed to Beatrice to report on the readiness of their plan. Reminding her agent that they had waited a lifetime for such an opportunity, Beatrice ordered the agent to make sure the opportunity was not wasted. Unaware of who her mother truly was, Domino touched down in Atlanta and subsequently met with an unidentified computer hacker, who revealed that despite all information pointing towards Beatrice not existing, he was able to find information that she was in deep hiding. As the hacker passed an information disc on Beatrice over to Domino, however, the disc was destroyed by a sniper shot and the hacker himself was killed moments later.
(Domino II#2 - BTS) - The next day, as Domino snuck into the deceased computer hacker's apartment, she thought back on recent events, wondering if the woman in the photo she was given was truly her mother and how an attempt to find her mother had resulted in a helicopter crash, a dead computer hacker and unwanted publicity. While inside the apartment, Domino located a backup disc matching the one destroyed by gunfire the day before. She then returned to her hotel room, where Jonathan Shepherd was waiting to question her about the previous day's events. As Shepherd asked if the information he provided had led Domino to make any discoveries about her mother, Domino took a shower. While the two discussed events from separate rooms during Domino's shower, Shepherd secretly made a copy of the information disc Domino had acquired. Following the shower, Domino demanded more information on her mother than a picture. When Shepherd admitted surprise that Domino had a photo at all of the woman who may or may not be her mother, he suggested Domino use her own resources to continue her search. After changing the subject to a new mission for Domino in Mogadishu, Shepherd departed and Domino renewed her search for her mother by reviewing the copied information disc. Finding files on a black ops government project called Project: Armageddon, Domino soon found files on Beatrice including the mugshot photo she had a printout of. Unaware that Shepherd was subsequently murdered in his office by the Armajesuits, Domino became sure that the woman in the photo was her mother.
(Domino II#3) - A group of
Armajesuits interrupted Beatrice's meditation to inform her that they
had encountered Domino, assuring Beatrice that Domino had not been
harmed. One of the Armajesuits expressed concern that Domino had
uncovered too much information about Project: Armageddon and revealed
that some of the Armajesuits thought it best to kill Domino rather than
have her jeopardize the Armajesuits' mission. Beatrice responded by
suggesting Domino live to do their work for them while the Armajesuits
reaped the benefits. She then ordered her agents to inform the doubting
Armajesuits not to underestimate Domino, as both arrogance and
disloyalty were mistakes they could ill afford. Stepping to the front
of a larger group of Armajesuits, Beatrice donned a mask and announced
that everything was proceeding as planned with Domino being manipulated
into serving their needs. Proclaiming that Domino would infiltrate
Project: Armageddon and retrieve the Project's ultimate weapon for
them, Beatrice announced that the Armajesuits may yet save the world
and that they would not fail. Unaware she was being manipulated by
Beatrice, Domino faked her own death to get inside Project: Armageddon,
hoping to secure the weapon the Project was working on and find her
mother in the process.
(Domino II#4) - After Domino
liberated Project: Armageddon's Lazarus, a young boy the Project was
experimenting on, she ran into Beatrice and the Armajesuits during her
escape. Admitting that she hoped to meet Domino under less strenuous
circumstances, having known of Domino for many years, Beatrice removed
her mask to reveal herself as Domino's mother. She then revealed her
origins as a Project: Armageddon test subject, how Domino had been
freed from the Project by her and how Lazarus was also her child. When
Domino became angry that Beatrice had known of her existence for years
and had manipulated her from behind the scenes rather than make any
attempts to contact Domino, Beatrice explained that Domino's use of her
luck powers to guide her life had made her of no use to Beatrice and
Domino quickly suspected Beatrice's plans to utilize Lazarus as a
weapon instead. Beatrice then proclaimed Lazarus to be the future and
announced her plans to kill Lazarus before he could be utilized as a
weapon by Project: Armageddon. Insisting that Lazarus would bring death
and destruction if allowed to live, Beatrice then pulled out a sword in
preparation of killing the protective Domino in order to then kill
Lazarus. Project: Armageddon's General then entered the room, shooting
down one of the Armajesuits and revealing how Beatrice had originally
volunteered to work with Project: Armageddon, only to escape and be
institutionalized with dementia. The General then called Beatrice a
freak and proclaimed her offspring to be nothing more than inhuman
government weapons. Raising her sword, Beatrice exclaimed that the
General had no idea what Lazarus would do but the General shot
Beatrice, grazing her head and remarking that he knew exactly what
Lazarus would do.
Realizing what his purpose was, Lazarus used his powers to freeze everyone in place, wishing for everyone to stop hurting one another. Unaffected by Lazarus' powers due to her blood relation to him, Beatrice revealed to the similarly-unaffected Domino that she had witnessed only a small portion of Lazarus' powers. Warning that, if left unchecked, Lazarus could manipulate minds and affect worldwide decisions, leading to the end of war and the collapse of religion, Beatrice announced her prediction that Lazarus would be hailed as a savior, with the world in a state of falsely-created bliss, and explained that what was she must kill Lazarus. Domino ordered Beatrice at gunpoint to put down her sword, insisting that Beatrice could not make such a decision for a child and the world, but Beatrice proclaimed that she had already made the decision and it was up to Domino to make her own decision about how to handle it. Feeling as if she had no other choice, Domino shot Beatrice, saving Lazarus. Leaving behind Beatrice's seeming corpse and the slowly-reawakening Armajesuits and Project: Armageddon personnel, Domino took Lazarus to a helicopter and the two escaped the complex. Domino then brought Lazarus to Father Rudolpho Boschelli, who revealed how a woman had once brought him a little girl and made a similar request for Father Boschelli to not ask many questions. Boschelli remarked on how the woman appeared as if she knew all of the world's sorrows but was powerless to relieve them and when he looked up, Domino was gone.
Not long after, a surviving
Beatrice snuck into Lazarus' bedroom and took him into her care,
tearfully remarking that, in her eyes, there was no such thing a
chance.

It was unclear when exactly Beatrice would have had a mugshot photo. While the photo does show her to be 5'9" in a lineup, Beatrice's arrest likely would had to have happened prior to her becoming the leader of the Armajesuits, as nearly all records of her existence were wiped during her time with the Armajesuits. I suppose it's possible that photo is not from an actual arrest at all but rather perhaps a government file photo taken during her time with Project: Armageddon. To me, the photo seems more like an arrest mugshot from a lineup so I lean more towards it being from some sort arrest that would have likely occurred after she escaped Project: Armageddon but before she became the leader of the Armajesuits. This is further supported by the General's claims in Domino II#4 that, after leaving Project: Armageddon, Beatrice was institutionalized with dementia. It stands to reason that her dementia-induced behavior likely lead to an arrest after she left Project: Armageddon, at which point she was placed in an institution during sentencing for her unrevealed crimes. I suppose one might argue that it could be an arrest prior to her ever being a part of Project: Armageddon and perhaps she was picked from jail as a test subject for Project: Armageddon, as government projects seem to be use prisoners as test subjects in fiction. Without more info though, we simply don't know for sure so I've placed the arrest as occurring after her escape from the Project but before the Armajesuits.
Another possible point of
conflicting continuity is that in Domino II#4, Beatrice specifically
mentions that the only survivors of Project: Armageddon's testing were
Domino, who was left in a catatonic state, and Lazarus, who was
cryogenically preserved as an embryo before Beatrice departed the
Project. Later in that same issue when Beatrice expresses an interest
in killing Lazarus to prevent him from being used as a weapon, she
exclaims that she birthed Lazarus and knew what his intended purpose
was. How could Beatrice have birthed Lazarus if she left Project:
Armageddon when Lazarus was still just a cryogenically preserved
embryo? Sure, she is genetically Lazarus' mother but if Lazarus was
taken from Beatrice and cryogenically frozen in the embryo stage of
development, Beatrice would not have birthed him because Lazarus never
made it to that stage before being frozen. Maybe Beatrice considered
the point at which Lazarus was taken from her as the moment he was
"born?"
In case it isn't clear in the History section, Domino II#4 ended with the revelation that Domino had deliberately shot Beatrice in a way in which she would survive and Beatrice assumed it was because she was meant to care for Lazarus. While Beatrice might have believed that herself, I'm not sure Domino intended Beatrice to survive to raise Lazarus, as it was known that Beatrice suffered from dementia that left her sanity in question. Given that Domino placed Lazarus in the care of Father Boschelli, it seems more likely that Domino left Beatrice alive because she didn't wish to kill her own mother but took Lazarus to Father Boschelli to raise. In Beatrice's mind, she believed that Domino left her alive so that she could raise Lazarus. I'd love to see a story that deals with how Lazarus was raised. Would he perhaps become a villain after having been raised by the insane Beatrice and her Armajesuits cult? Or would he have used his powers to escape and if so, why did he not reach back out to Domino? As a mutant, he could've been welcomed to Krakoa during its time as a mutant haven...
