History:
(Hawkeye: Freefall#5 (fb) - BTS) - The seventeen-year-old Bryce Bandau had done some questionable things in his young life that earned him arrest warrants and made him steer clear of anywhere that might keep public records on him like hospitals.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#3 (fb) - BTS) - Bryce was eventually employed by the criminal Hood as a hacker.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#4 (fb) - BTS) - While working for the Hood, Bryce learned that the Hood had a controlling share in Alethea Mutual Bank but kept its operations legitimate.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#2) - As the Hood was walking and talking with one of his agents, Bryce Bandau interrupted to inform the Hood that he had found something the Hood might find interesting. The Hood asked if it was so interesting that it was worth interrupting him and Bryce attempted to backtrack but the Hood assured Bryce it was fine. He then suggested Bryce accompany him into the nearby meatpacking room, where a man sat tied up in a chair, while the Hood finished up his business and the two could talk afterwards. Inside, the Hood interrogated the man, demanding to know who had been stealing from him, and Bryce again interrupted. Grabbing Bryce in a threatening manner, the Hood again warned him not to interrupt. The Hood then repeating his question to the tied up man and when the man claimed Ronin had been robbing the Hood's properties, an annoyed Hood shot the man dead, much to the shock of Bryce.

    Later, Bryce was working with the Hood's computers when Ronin busted into the room and demanded the code to the Hood's safe. Bryce claimed he couldn't give up the code or risk the Hood killing him but Ronin insisted that he would kill Bryce if Bryce didn't do as he was told. Thinking Ronin was the superhero Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Bryce nervously admitted that he didn't think Ronin would kill him because he was Hawkeye. Ronin attempted to say he had merely adopted the Ronin identity but Bryce interrupted to show Ronin security camera footage of Ronin breaking the arm of Theo, a member of the Hood's gang, and how the footage was nearly identical to camera footage of Hawkeye fighting police in another country. He then showed Ronin the footage side by side and both men were identical in size, speed and moves. Bryce then smiled and again repeated that Ronin was Hawkeye, at which point Ronin removed his mask to reveal the face of Clint Barton and cursed.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#3 (fb) - BTS) - Three hours later, Barton and Bryce returned to Barton's apartment, where Barton gave Bryce a ten thousand dollar pay advance to leave the Hood's employment and assist Barton in taking down the Hood.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#3) - Barton showed Bryce a time device that explained how Barton could be active as Hawkeye and Ronin at the same time. Realizing that Barton was indeed both Hawkeye and Ronin as he suspected, Bryce confirmed that Barton was using the time device to be active in two places at once and when Barton explained that the device was confiscated from one of the time conqueror Kang's invasions, Bryce asked why the government had given it to Barton for safe-keeping of all people. When Barton replied that the government had "sorta" given it to him, Bryce sarcastically commented on how he was "sure" the time device had nothing to do with the heist in Innwood by Ronin the week prior and he then asked Barton what the time device actually did. After explaining to Bryce that the device allowed one to move forward in time then boomerang back to their original starting point, Barton revealed that the device had been broken during a battle between Spider-Man and Ronin and asked if Bryce could fix it. Bryce immediately replied that he was just a hacker, familiar mostly with website construction or creating fake IDs, and he suggested Barton instead kidnap Reed Richards. Assuring Bryce that he had not been kidnapped, Barton reminded Bryce that he had just given him ten thousand dollars, at which Bryce pointed out that the money had been stolen from the Hood. Bryce then laughed at how one of the first things Barton had earlier used the time device for was to go forward in time and beat himself to convince his superhero friends that he was not Ronin.

    Their conversation was soon interrupted when Barton's girlfriend, Linda Carter, arrived. While Bryce was extremely interested in which female superhero Barton was dating, Carter, unaware Bryce was there, began changing out of her clothes in preparation for taking a shower. Completely topless, the still-unaware Carter walked into the kitchen and was shocked to find Bryce sitting there. Bryce covered his eyes and Carter demanded to know who he was, at which point Barton tried to joke that Bryce was his son. Carter was not amused so Barton properly introduced Bryce as an ally of his. Bryce, moving his fingers just slightly in order to see more, claimed he had not seen much and Barton asked Bryce to go into another room. Still somewhat covering his eyes, Bryce walked off remarking on how it was great to have met Carter. Following the subsequent argument between Carter and Barton over Barton bringing the young criminal Bryce into his home, Carter stormed off and Bryce poked his head in from the another and commented that perhaps he should leave. Barton agreed and gave Bryce a communication channel so they could keep in touch.

    Later that night, Bryce remained in communication with Barton as he took down some ninja as Hawkeye. During the battle, Bryce mentioned a movie he had torrented where a man killed three others on a subway and asked if Hawkeye wanted to watch the video. Hawkeye replied that only jerks illegally download stuff and remarked that the movie sounded dumb. Hawkeye then reminded Bryce that he had given him the communication channel for work calls, at which point Bryce asked what Hawkeye was doing, as he sounded out of breath. Hawkeye replied that he was fighting "ninjas" in Central Park and asked what Bryce was doing, as he also sounded out of breath. Playing a video game, Bryce claimed he was doing the same thing as Hawkeye and corrected Hawkeye on the plural form of "ninja." Bryce then asked why Barton was out there as Hawkeye and Barton admitted that he had to keep up appearances if he was going to continue tricking everyone into thinking he was not Ronin. When Black Widow became involved in the fight against the ninja and asked who Hawkeye was talking to, Bryce also asked who Hawkeye was talking to and when Hawkeye told Bryce to shut up, a suspicious Black Widow asked Barton about Ronin. The two exchanged words before Black Widow departed, at which point Bryce asked Hawkeye what he was saying about how everyone was tricked into thinking he wasn't Ronin. A short time later, Barton (now in the Ronin identity) reached back out to Bryce and asked him to meet him at his apartment.

    A bit later still, Bryce met up with Barton and helped carry a S.H.I.E.L.D. crate into Barton's apartment, passing Barton's neighbor Aimee along the way. As they carted the crate up a flight of stairs, Bryce asked Barton if he was sure it was okay for him to be there after Carter had stormed off earlier due to his being present. Barton replied, telling Bryce not to call Carter his girlfriend and claiming he was not in trouble with her before telling Bryce that they weren't going to tell Carter Bryce was there. Bryce then asked Barton what was in the crate and Barton opened it to reveal a robot Clint Barton LMD. Surprised when the completely nude robot stood up, Bryce asked if S.H.I.E.L.D. had made robot versions of all of the Avengers and when Barton replied in the affirmative, noting that S.H.I.E.L.D. had done so without their permission that they could convince the world the heroes were still around in case something happened to them. Bryce followed up by asking why the robot had "junk" and Barton theorized that perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D. wanted to convince even those who knew the Avengers intimately. When Bryce then questioned how S.H.I.E.L.D. knew what Barton's private parts looked like, Barton replied by saying Nick Fury was "real creepy." The two then went into the other room to find the LMD some clothes and Bryce commented on how Barton had a lot of purple in the room. Barton claimed it was his color but Bryce replied that it was Prince's color before the intercom buzzer went off, announcing that Linda Carter was downstairs. Barton suggested they remain quiet so that Carter would leave but the LMD answered the buzzer and let Carter inside. Barton quickly had Bryce deal with the LMD while he attempted to get Carter to leave but when she told Barton she loved him, the LMD loudly announced that he loved her too, at which point Carter found Bryce and the LMD in Barton's closet.

    Later that evening, after Carter broke up with Barton, Bryce managed to use his hacker skills to intercept a text message to one of the Hood's lieutenants, who were wishing to interrogate some Maggia agents at a warehouse, and Barton ventured out as Ronin to make sure he was there when the Hood arrived. Learning from one of the men that the Hood had just been there, Ronin asked Bryce if he could get any intel on what sort of situation he was walking into. Bryce replied that all he could tell was that it was a Maggia safe house that doubled as a human trafficking pit stop. Ronin entered the warehouse to find all of the men dead and words "Where's Ronin?" inscribed in blood on the wall and Barton's radio silence prompted Bryce to ask what was going on.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#4) - Following an encounter with Daredevil, Barton returned to his apartment and moved his activity into the complex's basement before asking two days later if Bryce could pick up his prescriptions and hack into the S.W.O.R.D. databases for him. When Bryce arrived, he asked if Barton had been kicked out of his own apartment but Barton explained that he had moved his vigilante activities into the basement in case Carter, who didn't like Bryce or the Barton LMD, showed back up. Admitting that the Barton LMD scared him, Bryce tossed Barton his prescriptions, accidentally hitting Barton in the head. Barton then informed Bryce that his injuries were at the hands of Bryce's former employer, the Hood, and Bryce suggested Barton suck it up and call Carter to come stitch him up, even offering to call Carter himself. Barton joked that he would never give Bryce Carter's phone number and Bryce continued the conversation by reminding Barton that the Hood was scary. Bryce then questioned whether Barton's going after the Hood was a good idea and asked if Barton had more of a plan than just stealing from the criminal. When Bryce asked if Barton was simply messing with the Hood for fun, Barton explained that he was hitting the Hood's money until the Hood was broke because the police would not be able to hold the Hood due to the Hood's secret association with the then-mayor, Wilson Fisk.

    When Bryce mentioned the Hood's bank, Barton asked what Bryce meant and Bryce revealed the Hood had a controlling share in the Alethea Mutual Bank. Barton immediately asked why Bryce had not previously mentioned the bank and Bryce explained that the Hood kept the Bank legitimate and free of illegal activity. Bryce then commented that while the Hood could make a perfectly good living with just the Bank, he couldn't seem to give up illegal activities. Barton claimed the Hood was an idiot who would eventually make a mistake he couldn't walk away from before asking if Bryce had accomplished his other task. Bryce then presented Barton with an envelope filled with information hacked from the old S.W.O.R.D. databases and revealed that it had not been easy to acquire the info. At some point, Bryce suggested Barton had to completely eliminate all suspicions that he was Ronin if he was to continue his campaign against the Hood as Ronin.

    Later, after Barton paid a shapeshifting Skrull he found in S.W.O.R.D.'s files to impersonate Ronin while he participated with other heroes in a search for Ronin, Bryce phoned Barton to inform him that the Barton LMD was gone. Bryce expressed concern that the LMD might have overheard the real Barton's plans, gotten confused and left in Barton's Ronin costume.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#5) - Bryce relaxed in the basement of Clint Barton's apartment as Barton monologued on his plan to stop the Hood. Soon realizing Bryce was not listening to him, Barton grabbed Bryce's headphones and yelling "We're under attack!," terrifying Bryce into jumping up. Barton then asked why Bryce was listening to headphones in this day and age, to which an annoyed Bryce explained to Barton that cassette tapes were popular again. Barton then asked Bryce to at least pretend to want his job but Bryce suggested Barton relax, remarking that the Hood was lashing out at his own men in annoyance and that Barton had hurt all of the Hood's businesses except the legitimate bank he owned. Barton claimed the damage was too slow and that the Hood was hiding from him but Bryce revealed that the Hood was likely just laying low until his birthday, during which he always saw a movie at the IFC and had dim sum at Han Dynasty. As soon as he said that, however, Bryce commented that perhaps he should not have mentioned the birthday thing to Barton and he then reminded Barton of his date with Linda Carter that night, suggesting he not screw it up if he wanted her back.

    Bryce was later interrupted in the basement of Barton's apartment by a phone call from a pay phone. Not recognizing the phone number but recognizing the voice as Barton, Bryce told "Barton" to relax and assured him he was still in the basement. "Barton" told him to wait there and, rolling his eyes, Bryce agreed to do so, unaware that "Barton" was actually the shapeshifting Skrull Barton had earlier paid for help, who had been forced by the assassin Bullseye into posing as Barton to learn where Barton was headquartered.  Bullseye then ventured to Barton's apartment and hit Bryce with several of Barton's arrows.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#6 (fb) - BTS) - Due to the severity of his bloody injuries, Bryce admitted that Barton was both Hawkeye and Ronin and that Barton had been going after the Hood. Leaving a bloody Bryce behind full of arrows, Bullseye then returned to the Hood and gave him the information and evidence both Bryce and the Skrull had given him.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#5) - When the the real Barton later returned home, he found a recording made by Bullseye, who explained how the Hood had hired him to get proof that Hawkeye and Ronin were the same person, and, noticing blood on the floor, Barton immediately became concerned about Bryce. Following the trail of blood, Barton found Bryce in the superintendent's room, stabbed by several of Hawkeye's arrows.

(Hawkeye: Freefall#6) - Assuring the seriously injured Bryce that everything would be okay, Barton warned that he would have to move Bryce and the movement would be painful. Bryce weakly asked if Barton could remove the arrows but Barton explained that removing the arrows would cause Bryce to bleed out. When Barton mentioned taking Bryce to Mercy Hospital, Bryce refused, explaining that he had done things in his past and wanted no hospitals. Barton remarked on how Bryce was just a kid but Bryce reiterated that he could not go to a hospital. Informing that he knew a place, Barton moved Bryce onto his Sky Cycle and flew Bryce to Linda Carter's apartment. Realizing Bryce was dying, Barton kicked open Carter's door and begged her to help save Bryce. Carter insisted Bryce needed hospital treatment but when Barton informed her that Bryce had active warrants out, an angry Carter asked Barton to put Bryce in another room and warned that they would have a serious talk after the situation was over. Thirty minutes later, Carter emerged from the room and informed Barton that Bryce's injuries were too severe and that Bryce had died. When she began to angrily question why Barton had brought him into her house, Barton tried to explain how Bryce could not go to a hospital and Carter replied by suggesting Barton let Bryce die rather than let police see him. Blaming Bullseye for Bryce's death, Barton ignored most of Carter's subsequent arguments before leaving, commenting that he was now out of Carter's life just as she wanted.

    Later, when Hawkeye confronted Bullseye over Bryce's death, Bullseye asked how Bryce was doing, commenting that he felt Bryce was stubborn but got his "point." Hawkeye then managed to get the better of Bullseye, who admitted he might've gotten under Hawkeye's skin a bit and asked if it was the death of Bryce or the death of the Skrull Hawkeye had earlier paid off that had riled Hawkeye up the most. Pinned down by Hawkeye's arrows, Bullseye revealed to Hawkeye how both Bryce and the Skrull he had earlier paid had given up information on Barton after being injured and how the Hood put a three million dollar bounty on Clint Barton's head.
