History:

(Iron Man I#119) - Yvette Avril was the director of Stark International's French division, headquartered in Paris, France. When Tony Stark stopped over in Paris during a trip to Europe, Yvette welcomed him and led him to the office set aside for him in the Paris facility. Later, she heard Tony destroy a video communicator in his office following an angry call with Nick Fury, but when Yvette entered the office and asked if he needed her help, he told her he needed to think things out.

(Iron Man I#137) - When Tony Stark held the 3rd annual Stark International Employee Appreciation Party, Yvette journeyed from the Paris office to the Stark International facility on Long Island to join in the festivities. She wound up dancing with James Rhodes and impressed him with her dancing skills; she invited Rhodes to visit her in Paris some time. The party was interrupted when a broadcast showing the staff Stark International's new Sonic Borer resulted in an explosion, which Tony left to investigate.

(Iron Man I#146 (fb) - BTS) - Tony asked Yvette to come back to the Long Island facility so he could meet with her in private. James Rhodes flew her from Paris to Long Island, then set up a dinner date with her.

(Iron Man I#146) - Yvette met with Tony Stark as he invited her to become vice president of Stark International. Tony secretly hoped Yvette would maintain control over his company during his frequent duties as Iron Man. Yvette took the assignment and Tony invited her to dinner to celebrate, but she informed him she'd be bringing Rhodes as her guest. Although he was unable to reach his own date, Bethany Cabe, Tony went out that night with Rhodes and Yvette, including seeing the musical play 'Evita.'

The next day, Tony took Yvette around the Long Island facility. While touring Stark International's practical labs, Yvette noticed public relations man Artemus Pithins was showing schoolchildren around the facility. Yvette wondered if that were prudent as it could be dangerous to reveal the company's secrets to youngsters. Tony admitted he had similar concerns but trusted Pithins' instincts. The tour was interrupted when the villain Blacklash attacked the facility; Tony told Yvette to ensure the children weren't harmed and excused himself to intervene as Iron Man.

(Iron Man I#147) - As Blacklash's attack started a fire, Yvette directed Pithins to use a water cooler to douse people with water to put fire on their clothing. Fiery debris nearly trapped them both inside the building but Iron Man arrived and led them to safety. Yvette complimented Pithins, saying he was very resourceful.

(Iron Man I#148) - Tony invited Yvette on a vacation to the Canadian rocky mountains with his butler Edwin Jarvis to cook for them. Yvette realized Tony was still bothered by his troubles with Bethany Cabe and offered a sympathetic ear to him. The vacation was interrupted when a crisis in Costa Diablo forced Tony and Yvette to return to Long Island.

(Iron Man I#149) - Yvette helped lead a board meeting until Tony was able to join them. Tony wound up having to dress down Mr. Zurrow of Stark International's Miami office, who had been selling components to Latveria in violation of policy.

(Iron Man I#156) - Yvette greeted Tony as he returned to the Long Island facility and let him know the holdings he'd bought from Cordco had resulted in Stark International claiming it as a subsidiary. Just as she was suggesting they share a coffee together, Yvette saw the Mauler in the sky nearby. Tony told her to alert security chief Vic Martinelli while he went to investigate on his own.

(Iron Man I#172) - When Tony Stark succumbed to alcoholism, Yvette had to assume leadership at Stark International. She summoned Iron Man (who was now James Rhodes) to meet with her, Martinelli and Mrs. Arbogast. Yvette told Iron Man that Stark International was facing a hostile takeover from Obadiah Stane and she hoped to stall Stane for a few weeks but needed Tony's notarized signature before 5:00 PM that day. While Iron Man went in search of Tony Stark, Yvette started checking want ads in the local newspaper. As she feared, Iron Man was unable to retrieve Tony and Obadiah Stane completed his takeover of Stark International. Stane introduced himself to Yvette, Martinelli and Arbogast as their new boss.

(Iron Man I#173) - As Stane brought Tony Stark to the Long Island facility to show him the business being renamed 'Stane International,' Yvette, Artie Pithins and Mrs. Arbogast confronted Stane and Pithins gave his resignation.

(Iron Man I#174) - Yvette went to see Obadiah Stane in his office and informed him she was quitting as vice-president. He accepted her resignation.

(Iron Man III#8 (fb) - BTS) - After Stark Enterprises became Stark-Fujikawa, Yvette was made the chief of European operations.

(Iron Man III#8 (fb)) - Yvette was approached by Tony Stark, who had founded a new company called Stark Solutions. Hoping to trace an unusual encrypted data file he'd encountered, Tony asked to use Stark-Fujikawa's computers to assist him. Yvette was happy to see Tony again and gave him access to Stark-Fujikawa's European systems to perform his search. The two also enjoyed a social outing together.

(Iron Man III#8) - Yvette and Tony's date was interrupted by Whiplash, who was working for the Mandarin, who ultimately proved responsible for the data file Tony was investigating. Tony used his flying car to evade Whiplash and get Yvette to safety, then fought Whiplash as Iron Man.

The next day, Tony expressed his growing feeling of paranoia to Yvette as she led him through Paris. Tony told her he was concerned for her safety but Yvette told him he'd earned her loyalty long ago; although she was no longer his employee, she insisted she would do anything for him and her feelings went beyond anything a paycheck could supply. She gave Tony a flower to wear as a reminder of her feelings for him.
