History:

(Sensational She-Hulk I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Marvel Productions produced a Saturday morning cartoon series based on the fictional adventures of Robot-Cop, a futuristic cyborg law enforcement officer that fought crime in Detroit with deadly force.

(Sensational She-Hulk I#5 (fb) ) - Dr. Bong was furious when he discovered his five infant clones had become addicted to 'the mindless pap' offered by Saturday morning cartoons. He dreamed up a complex scheme to save their minds: he figured out a way to manipulate what was being broadcast through his mastery of sonics. Now in control of the wavelengths, he found he could now enter the broadcasts as if they were actual realities (see comments).

(Sensational She-Hulk I#5 (fb) - BTS) - As a result of Bong's extended vibrational manipulation, the wavelength realms became susceptible to certain types of TV remotes that operated on hypersonics. People who were channel surfing using these remote controls might suddenly find themselves transported inside the show they were watching. She-Hulk suddenly found herself in the warped world of Saturday morning cartoons where she wound up rescuing a young boy called Paul White and Bob and his wife.

(Sensational She-Hulk I#5) - She-Hulk discovered her TV-remote could transport them to different worlds. Her next click brought the group to Robot-Cop's reality. Trying to get their bearings on the ravaged streets of Detroit, they soon encountered Robot-Cop who immediately ordered them to stand down. When She-Hulk tried to reason with Robot-Cop, he mistook the remote in her hand for a weapon and blasted it to bits with his gun. Robot-Cop then threatened everyone with lethal action if they refused to comply to his orders. Before things could get out of hand, Dr. Bong arrived. He used his powers to paralyze Robot-Cop and then transported She-Hulk and the others away from Robot-Cop's reality.

Comments: Created by John Byrne, Bob Wiacek.

So, is Robot-Cop's reality real or not? That's a bit of a metaphysical quandary, really. Yes, the original Robot-Cop was from a cartoon show, but by the time Dr. Bong was done with it, the fictional character and its world had become interactive and quite real. John Byrne deliberately left out the details, because even for comic book science it's a bit of a wonky concept. Then again, Bong is a master of quantum mechanics and the multiverse is a big place, who's to say there isn't at least one reality out there where Robot-Cop is real?
