At the height of his power, Par had alliances with other worldwide dictators and unquestioned political power in his home country of Marinmer. He often carried a handgun and was not above shooting his own aides to prove a point. In the dining room of his palace, Par had candles that contained the incapacitating chemical Kolokol-1 that would release when the candles were burned, taking down anyone who breathed in the chemical. To protect himself from the chemicals, Darqon Par wore filters in his nostrils that prevented him from breathing the chemicals.

History:
(She-Hulk II#36 (fb) - BTS) - After taking the office of President-for-Life of the religiously-divided country of Marinmer, Darqon Par hoped to resolve the religious wars that had torn Marinmer apart for centuries, giving a rousing speech about ending persecution and ushering in a new golden age. When the violent wars continued to persist, Par descended to the same level as those waging the wars and became a dictator when he began executing those who sought to kill him. An avid art collector, especially the works of Ms. Rowena, who tended to paint scantily-clad women, Par filled his palace with Rowena art and also became a fan of the American superheroine She-Hulk.

(She-Hulk II#34 (fb) - BTS) - Over time, Darqon Par allied with Russia and China. Years after taking office, a major earthquake struck Marinmer and Darqon Par and his repressive governmental regime refused to allow rescue efforts, claiming they did not need outside help.

(She-Hulk II#35 (fb) - BTS) - Darqon Par also blocked critical supplies such as a food and medicine for earthquake recovery from the people.

(She-Hulk II#34) - The heroic She-Hulk and her bond agent partner Jazinda discussed the situation in Marinmer, noting Par's repressive government and how they viewed the earthquake as an attempt by their god to cleanse the opposition to his regime. Thinking about doing something about the situation, She-Hulk assembled the Lady Liberators and they discussed how the money for relief efforts was going straight into the pockets of Darqon Par. The Lady Liberators ultimately decided to take a stand against Par and ensure the dispersal of the relief supplies and soon after, they touched down in Marinmer. When one of his aides came running into his office to inform Par of the heroines' presence, Darqon Par shot the aide then asked if he was mortally wounded. The aide replied in the negative and Par remarked that it was because the aide was wearing the government-issue bulletproof vest that Par assigned to all of his aides. Par then noted that it was nice to see that some people did read the memos he sent out, commenting that not everyone did as he stepped over the dead body of another aide. Par then asked what the situation was at the Marinmer airport and the aide informed Par that they were being attacked by superbeings. As Darqon Par heard that the superbeings were all women, he became intrigued as to whether they were scantily clad or not, noting his interest in having physical relations with a superpowered woman. Par's aide responded by stating that the women would not likely be cooperative and would more than likely rather die, prompting Par to remark that less talking might actually be preferable. The smiling Darqon Par then called up his ally Vladimir to inform him of the situation.

(She-Hulk II#35 - BTS) - After the Lady Liberators convinced the Russia-summoned Winter Guard to help them get earthquake supplies to the people and search for survivors in the rubble, Darqon Par sent his aide with a group of soldiers to the recovery site to inform She-Hulk that Par requested her company at his mansion. Ready to fight, She-Hulk bared her fists but Par's aide revealed that Darqon Par was quite the fan of hers and wished to discuss with the heroine, whom he felt ideally suited due to her legal background, the terms of a potential treaty in which Par would welcome the rescue efforts of any country with a desire to help his people. Many of the Lady Liberators assumed the offer was nothing more than a trap set by Darqon Par but She-Hulk, feeling like she could defend herself from a trap and could possibly help if Par were willing, agreed to Darqon Par's invitation. The aide commented that Par would be delighted at her acceptance of the invitation. As She-Hulk prepared to leave, Thundra reminded her that Darqon Par was a cruel dictator with the blood of thousands on his hands before suggesting She-Hulk end Par's life and She-Hulk replied that it was on her "to-do list."

(She-Hulk II#36) - Par's General Eng (actually disguised shapeshifter Jazinda) led She-Hulk to Darqon Par's Palace of the President, this one again claiming Par was a huge fan of the superheroine. She-Hulk warned that she would bring the entire palace down on them if the invitation proved to be a trap and she was soon led to Par, who had prepared a candle-lit dinner for them. Par calmly introduced himself and commented on how he was a fan of hers but She-Hulk interrupted, stating that she was not there for drinks, especially when she had no idea what he might have slipped into them. When Par claimed that he would hate to think that she believed he was capable of such perfidy, She-Hulk reminded him that he killed his own people. Taking a drink himself, Par admitted that he was indeed capable of killing his own people but questioned what leader wasn't. Reminding She-Hulk that all governments sent their people to be killed as soldiers, Par revealed how he had originally sought to end the wars that had plagued Marinmer only to descend to the same level. He then claimed that his god had sent the earthquake to settle the matter of the religious wars once and for all before suggesting she try his caviar. She-Hulk responded by knocking the plate from his hand and accusing him of allowing more women and children to die.

After Darqon Par claimed women and children were just as dangerous as men, She-Hulk demanded to know if the invitation to help negotiate a treaty was a lie. Par replied in the affirmative, confirming that he was only interested in her, not treaties. She-Hulk threatened to kill Par right where he stood but Par reminded her that his country had shaped him rather than he truly shaping it. He then claimed it was naive to think that anyone who would take his place would not be equally doomed to similar disillusionment. When She-Hulk seemed weak, he asked if she was alright and the two witnessed the Invisible Woman collapse on the floor near them. A confused She-Hulk asked what Invisible Woman was doing there and Par deduced that she must have been invisibly present to keep an eye on She-Hulk and had passed out to the Kolokol-1 being released into the air by his dining room candles. Gloating that She-Hulk had no filters in her nose to prevent her exposure to the Kolokol-1 as he did, Darqon Par watched as She-Hulk attempted to attack Par, only to pass out. Par then creepily remarked that the fun would now truly begin.

Par had the incapacitated She-Hulk tied to a bed and as she groggily regained consciousness, he admitted that he had no intention of allowing her to fully regain her faculties, as he planned to have his way with both her and the equally-captured Invisible Woman. Par's gloating was interrupted by the appearance of General Eng, who seemingly betrayed Par and attempted to strangle him despite Par pulling a gun. During the ensuing scuffle, Eng was revealed as She-Hulk's shapeshifting bond agent partner Jazinda and she nearly killed Darqon Par by crushing his windpipe until the still-woozy She-Hulk intervened, asking Jazinda not to go through with killing the dictator. Jazinda angrily gave her case for ending Par's life, tossing him onto She-Hulk, who eventually became angry enough to break free of her bounds. Darqon Par weakly pleaded that everyone was a product of their own circumstances, accusing She-Hulk of being a hypocrite and wanting him to die. She-Hulk hurled a super-strong punch directly at Par's face but his head was protected by an invisible force field generated by the recovered and escaped Invisible Woman as Par himself passed out from fear. Having bloodied her knuckles on the Invisible Woman's force field and with Jazinda exposed to Invisible Woman as a shapeshifting alien Skrull, She-Hulk came up with a plan to handle Darqon Par.

Moments later, Par's soldiers rushed to his home to inform him of the Invisible Woman's escape, only to find "Darqon Par" (secretly the disguised Jazinda), who claimed She-Hulk had convinced him of a few things and that he needed to address the people Marinmer immediately. Jazinda (posing as Darqon Par) then went on television to address the people of Marinmer, claiming that he been made to see the error of his ways. Proclaiming that Par was ashamed of his actions, Jazinda used Par's form to announce the opening of borders to Marinmer to all Red Cross workers and rescue organizations and the orders for the military to assist those in need rather than serving as enemies. "Par" then announced "his" plans to step down in the only fashion a President-for-Life could, by publicly taking out a gun and shooting "himself."

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update#2 - Ursa Major entry - BTS) - While Jazinda was putting on her performance, the Winter Guard aided the Lady Liberators in overthrowing Darqon Par's rule.

(She-Hulk II#36) - Knowing that Jazinda could not truly die, She-Hulk had the Invisible Woman render the real Darqon Par invisible and brought him to the desert Australian outback, where she informed him of her plans to leave him there to survive on his own. After She-Hulk explained her ruse to Par and that there was an Aboriginal tribe a day's walk away that might consider taking Par in, Darqon Par attempted to make demands but She-Hulk interjected, threateningly informing him that he was being given a second chance at life. Noting that the Invisible Woman was not there to stop her from killing Par this time, She-Hulk ordered Par to run for his life. Par took off running, unaware that his former aide had been given control of Marinmer in Par's supposed death.

(She-Hulk II#37 (fb) - BTS) - News soon flooded in worldwide of Darqon Par's seeming suicide but that news was soon overshadowed by the humanitarian work that She-Hulk and her Lady Liberators had done while in Marinmer.

I could see a story where a revenge-seeking Darqon Par returns to plague She-Hulk someday...
