History:

(Heathcliff Annual#1/7 (fb) - BTS) - The stage magician and master hypnotist the Great Obscuro arrived at Westfinster theater to perform for children in a pet-friendly environment. Iggy Nutmeg and his smart adventurous cat Heathcliff attended.

(Heathcliff Annual#1/7) - Obscuro finished his act to rousing applause. Requests for more had him call up Heathcliff as a volunteer for a display of hypnotism. With zappy eyes, Obscuro mesmerized the cat with the post-hypnotic suggestion that Heathcliff would kiss a dog every time he heard the phrase "Well, I suppose," and have no recollection of it. Heathcliff went back to the audience and Obscuro demonstrated his hypnotic power; Heathcliff kissed the nearest dog after the phrase was said. The crowd left the theater and Obscuro then hypnotized the box office attendant to hand over all of the money and have no recollection. Iggy and Heathcliff saw this but were spotted by Obscuro in turn. To prevent Iggy going to the police, Obscuro zapped the boy into thinking he was a frog and ran off. Heathcliff gave chase but Obscuro uttered the hypnotic phrase and the cat immediately went in search of a dog to kiss, which by chance happed to be a police K-9 unit. Iggy (behaving like a frog) also caught up and told the policeman about Obscuro and the cop gave chase, halting the thief with the growling dog and Iggy's help. Obscuro was ordered to remove the hypnotic suggestion, and Heathcliff and Iggy were returned to normal. Obscuro was then taken away by the policeman.

Esmeralda

Esmeralda was the dog in the police K-9 unit that apprehended Obscuro the stage magician as he tried to get away with stolen money. Heathcliff the cat had been hypnotized to kiss dogs and had kissed Esmeralda, initially confusing the pooch but then leaving her amorous toward the cat. The day after Obscuro was arrested and Heathcliff returned to normal, Esmeralda was still smitten by Heathcliff's kiss.
