Powers/Abilities: Ladyfair had no inherent superhuman powers but she was an extremely skilled assassin and martial artist, especially in the use of kobudo and wushu weapons. She was incredible acrobatic and quick due to her training as an assassin and had above average strength due to years spent performing manual farm labor.

In battle, she wielded several different martial arts weapons including a jiujiebian and a pair of kama that could be charged with anionic energy.

She also had a vocal transmitter installed her jaw that allowed her to communicate with Neal Saroyan and a subcutaneous tracker implanted beneath her skin that allowed Wonder Man and his allies to determine her location at any point. In addition to the vocal transmitter in her jaw, Ladyfair's right back wisdom tooth previously contained a cap filled with a poison drug.

For a time, she was outfitted with a collar that would channel hostile impulses directly into her nervous system, causing intense pain whenever she attempted to act on these impulses. The collar also recorded and transmitted anything she said to Wonder Man and his allies.

History:
(All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update#4 - Ladyfair entry - BTS) - Born in an unrevealed location in China, the girl later known as Huan had Chinese citizenship.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2 (fb)) - The daughter of poor farmers that owed a great deal of money, the girl developed strength through years of manual farm labor.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3 (fb) - BTS) - The girl worshiped Buddha.

(All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update#4 - Ladyfair entry - BTS) - What education the girl received was unrevealed.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#4 (fb) - BTS) - While still little, the girl learned that the light she saw in the stars in the sky could have burned out long ago but it took so long for the light to travel to Earth that it was only then visible to Earthlings. Upon learning this fact, she cried for hours at the thought of the star she was seeing being long dead.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2 (fb)) - At age twelve, the girl was sold into prostitution to repay her parents' debts and when she was confronted with her "client," the girl mustered the courage to strangle the man with his own tie. Her adrenaline surging at the thrill of her first kill, the girl was quickly met by one of her gun-wielding captors but the woman who rather the prostitution ring took notice of the girl's killer instinct and opted instead to have her meet with someone she knew who would appreciate the girl's killer "artistry." Believing that perhaps she was an artist in a sense, the girl accompanied the older woman to meet the powerful criminal Mandarin, then using the alias of Zhang Tong. Brought before the Mandarin, who explained how he had been told of her ruthless murder of one of his rivals, the girl was tested by being given a gun with a single bullet and told to use it wisely. Told that she could use the gun to kill herself to escape a life of misery, kill him and live or try to kill him and die, the girl fired on the dragon-shaped brazier above the Mandarin's head. Thinking that the girl had simply missed hitting him, the Mandarin claimed her aim was tragic but the brazier soon fell, setting fire to the Mandarin's robes as the girl fled. Easily catching the girl using his alien rings, the Mandarin studied the girl before giving her the name of Huan, meaning "Jade Ring," and announcing that she would become part of his warriors despite her feminine gender. He then asked Huan if she would like that and she happily accepted his offer, spending years growing up under his tutelage.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3 (fb)) - Following years of training under the Mandarin's tutors, the now sixteen-year-old Huan was brought before the Mandarin, who revealed that he had been told Huan was deadly of hand, quick of wit, single-minded of purpose and loyal of spirit. Huan thanked the Mandarin but he insisted she not thank him, as he was only communicating what he was told, and he informed her that he wished to see these qualities for himself. He then handed Huan a photo and tasked her with killing the couple in the photo, noting that he would be satisfied only after she completed the task. Recognizing the couple in the photo as her parents, Huan commented as such and when the Mandarin asked if that would be a problem, Huan replied in the negative and stated that it would be no problem at all.

Shortly after traveling to her childhood home, Huan found it to be smaller than she remembered and easily entered the home due to its lack of locks. Standing over her sleeping parents with a dagger, Huan thought back on what they had done to her and how they saw her as nothing more than a commodity. Feeling as if they deserved no mercy, Huan raised her dagger and moments later departed the home, only to be met with the Mandarin himself outside. When she appeared surprised, the Mandarin asked if she had completed the task and Huan nervously claimed she had. The Mandarin followed up by asking if she was prepared to prove it and when Huan claimed she could return to the home and produce the bodies as proof, the Mandarin remarked that there was no need before using his rings to set the home ablaze. Huan held back a cry and silently prayed for her parents, only to find her prayers unanswered when her parents ran from the home on fire.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2 (fb)) - Huan silently watched as her flaming parents ran from their burning home.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3 (fb)) - The Mandarin calmly commented to Huan that her parents looked awfully animated for two people that had been stabbed to death, noting that it was almost as if they had been alive and Huan had lied about completing her mission. Huan claimed she had not lied or failed as the Mandarin commented that both transgressions would have cost her life. He then half-jokingly suggested that perhaps Buddha had resurrected Huan's parents following their stabbing, only for them to die again, and noted how frustrating it must have been for Buddha to see his plans thwarted. When the Mandarin followed up by asking if Huan worshiped Buddha, Huan denounced Buddha and claimed that she only worshiped the Mandarin, who proclaimed that Huan had learned well.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2 (fb) - BTS) - After killing many more times for the Mandarin, she departed his organization following the Mandarin's seeming death and the dissolution of his criminal empire, eventually finding employment as an assassin elsewhere.

(All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update#4 - Ladyfair entry - BTS) - Ladykiller kept her true identity a secret.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3 (fb) - BTS) - Huan eventually joined the Nobility crime syndicate.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#1 (fb) - BTS) - Huan took the codename of Ladykiller.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3 (fb) - BTS) - Huan developed a sort of relationship with the Nobility's Lord Thunder, who thought of Ladykiller as "his" woman.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#1 (fb) - BTS / Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#4 (fb) - BTS) - As a part of a secret plot to destroy the Avengers, the unknowing Ladykiller was secretly hired by the Nobility's leader, former Hollywood agent turned documentarian Neal Saroyan, to assassinate movie producer Ken Flevin.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#5 (fb) - BTS) - The night before her scheduled assassination of Flevin, Neal Saroyan used his mind control abilities to force Ladykiller into a deep sleep, during which he secretly had a cap full of drugs installed on her right back wisdom tooth and a receiver installed in her jaw to communicate with him. When she awoke, she was curious why her head hurt but nonetheless contained on with her task.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#1) - The next day, while waiting outside a restaurant where Ken Flevin was eating, Ladykiller witnessed Wonder Man and his former agent Neal Saroyan leave another nearby restaurant and when the valet brought around Neal Saroyan's car, Ladykiller slashed the engine in half. Wonder Man immediately tried to apprehend Ladykiller but she used a weapon to sling Wonder Man into a car. She then attacked Wonder Man with a pair of kamas charged with anionic energy, hurting Wonder Man with each attack. Wonder Man attempted to fight back but Ladykiller dodged most of his attacks and hit back with counterattacks before rushing into the restaurant where Ken Flevin was eating. Confronting Flevin, Ladykiller announced her intent to kill Flevin and when she went into for the kill, Wonder Man intervened, wrapping Ladykiller with her own chain-whip and knocking her out. After confirming from Wonder Man that Ladykiller was indeed out cold, Ken Flevin started kicking the unconscious Ladykiller while she was down but Wonder Man quickly pulled Flevin off of her. As Flevin angrily tried to free himself from Wonder Man's grip, exclaiming that Ladykiller's attempt on his life gave him the right to hit her while she was down, a smiling Neal Saroyan looked over the situation and muttered "She's perfect." Neal then presented Wonder Man with the idea for a documentary entitled My Fair Super Hero, in which Wonder Man would attempt to redeem Ladykiller. At first refusing Neal's suggestion, Wonder Man reluctantly agreed to take charge of Ladykiller after Neal played on Wonder Man's feelings that everyone deserved a second chance.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2 (fb) - BTS) - Wonder Man pulled some strings with the Avengers and arranged for the unconscious Ladykiller to be placed in a S.H.I.E.L.D. safe house with hidden cameras filming Wonder Man's attempts to rehabilitate Ladykiller.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#1 - BTS) - A collar was placed on Ladykiller that would direct any hostile impulses directly into her nervous system, causing intense pain.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#4 (fb) - BTS) - A tracker was also subcutaneously implanted within Ladykiller's skin so Wonder Man and his heroic allies could track her location.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#1) - Ladykiller awoke to find herself facing Wonder Man and immediately attacked him, only to experience excruciating pain from the collar. Explaining the collar, Wonder Man revealed that Ladykiller was being a great chance whether she believed it or not. He then informed her that he would be explaining where she was and what was expected of her before introducing her to his allies, Beast and Ms. Marvel. Ladykiller immediately leaped to attack Beast and Ms. Marvel but the collar again stopped her, causing intense pain that again downed her. Upon seeing this, Beast commented that Ladykiller seemed like a sweet girl and he suggested they let the healing begin.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#2) - Wonder Man showed Ladykiller to her quarters in the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse, apologizing if it wasn't to her liking and calling her by the name of Huan. Ladykiller responded by asking how he knew her name and when he gave a variety of potential explanations and told her to take her pick, she demanded he answer her question. Wonder Man replied in the negative and an angry Ladykiller attempted to attack him, only to be met with intense pain from the nervous system collar. Reminding Ladykiller that every time she wished to hurt someone, the collar would stop her, Wonder Man informed Ladykiller that he had been challenged to rehabilitate her and mentioned that Beast would love to take her on if she enjoyed checkers. After Wonder Man left, Ladykiller surveyed her surroundings and found a loose vent grating. Kicking it open, Ladykiller attempted to escape the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse, only to have a trampoline appear beneath her and spring her right into a chair next to the Beast and a checkerboard, prompting Beast to ask if she wanted to go first. Later, Ladykiller met with Wonder Man, who was performing an experiment involving dripping water onto a rock. When Wonder Man mentioned that the water would eventually wear down the rock and likened Ladykiller to the rock, Ladykiller joked that it must make Wonder Man the drip. Smiling, Wonder Man joked back that the media should be alerted and reminded her that he was immortal and could wait her out if he had to. Ladykiller responded by asking what exactly he wanted from her and Wonder Man admitted that he wished to learn more about her in her own words. Revealing the story of her early life and first kill at age twelve, Ladykiller remarked that it was enough talking and she left the room. Thinking she had lured Wonder Man into a false sense of security, Ladykiller returned to her home and broke her way into the safehouse's attic to attempt another escape, only to again be launched back into Beast's chair.

Later, Ladykiller met Wonder Man as he was playing pool and asked if they did anything aside from play games. Wonder Man replied by asking if Ladykiller thought they would instead torture her and when she replied in the affirmative, Wonder Man claimed that they didn't do that there. When he claimed Americans didn't torture, Ladykiller jokingly remarked "...and you think I'm insane." Wonder Man then asked more about her life after she was taken away and she related how she had been raised as an assassin under the criminal Mandarin's tutelage before finding other employment in the dissolution of his criminal empire. When Wonder Man asked who she found employment with, Ladykiller refused to tell and Wonder Man accepted her answer before asking if she ever saw her parents again. Recalling seeing them on fire, Ladykiller claimed she had only seen them once in passing. Later that night, Ladykiller managed to escape the safehouse through the basement but when Ms. Marvel flew out to stop her, Beast returned to his room to find Ladykiller waiting at the checkerboard. Remarking that her escape route was made too obvious and that the heroes would have liked to see her  fall victim to one of their demeaning booby traps, Ladykiller announced her refusal to give them the satisfaction before moving a checker on the board, asking Beast if he was satisfied that she made a move, then kicking over the checkerboard and storming out of the room.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#3) - Ladykiller sparred against Wonder Man with wooden swords as she suggested Wonder Man was far worse than the Mandarin, as the Mandarin had brought her up from nothing and given her purposes while Wonder Man was attempting to dilute her purpose. Wonder Man reminded Ladykiller that her purpose had been killing but Ladykiller argued that a soldier's purpose was also killing. Wonder Man argued back that a soldier defended their country and how killing was not the be-all, end-all of their job before asking Ladykiller who had hired her to kill Ken Flevin. Ladykiller only answered with "a client" before downing Wonder Man with the wooden swords and asking if Wonder Man would have her deny everything she was for him. Ms. Marvel questioned why Ladykiller delivered a "killing" blow with the wooden swords and Ladykiller reminded Ms. Marvel that her name was Ladykiller and that Wonder Man was in no real danger as an invulnerable opponent despite insulting her by holding back. Wonder Man then informed Ladykiller that he was deliberately holding back to appear helpless and prove a point that Ladykiller had no need to kill. Admitting that she did realize Wonder Man's goal despite his "patronizing attitude," Ladykiller walked away from Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel, noting that she didn't care.

While Ladykiller remained in Wonder Man's custody, her former allies in the Nobility discussed what to do about her public capture and rehabilitation attempt and whether she might reveal information about them. Ms. Marvel later found Ladykiller knocking her head against a wall and when she questioned what Ladykiller was doing, Ladykiller explained that Wonder Man's moralizing "sermons" were in her head and she joked that the parts of her head containing his words might leak out if she cracked her head open. When Ladykiller admitted to going a bit stir-crazy and remarked that if Ms. Marvel truly wished to help her, she would let Ladykiller out of the safehouse, Ms. Marvel agreed. A short time later, Ms. Marvel was flying a terrified Ladykiller around Hollywood but when Ms. Marvel questioned Ladykiller about her parents, Ladykiller claimed there was nothing to tell. Ms. Marvel managed to get Ladykiller to open up by dropping her onto the letter D of the famed Hollywood sign. Annoyed that Ms. Marvel might continue dropping her until she gave her the information she wanted, Ladykiller claimed she had killed her parents. Her words being secretly transmitted to Wonder Man and the Beast via her collar, Ladykiller then related the circumstances of her responsibility in the Mandarin's murder of her parents and both Beast and Wonder Man realized that Ladykiller had not truly killed her parents but rather, felt responsible for their deaths. Upon hearing Ladykiller's story, Wonder Man opted to cancel the entire rehabilitation project due to his feelings that they had captured Ladykiller and that they were playing mind games and brainwashing her, making them no better than the Mandarin. Beast disagreed and during their conversation over whether or not Wonder Man should cancel the project, the two heroes overheard Ladykiller admit to Ms. Marvel that she had not thought of her feelings in so long and how she had no one to talk to about her feelings or even how to ask for help. Speaking with Neal Saroyan over the phone, Wonder Man, having experienced a change of hearts after hearing Ladykiller's cry for help, informed Neal that the project was showing some real possibilities, unaware that Neal was being confronted by Ladykiller's former associates in the Nobility.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#4) - Ladykiller sat on the roof of the S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse with Wonder Man and remarked on how nothing actually lasted. Wonder Man disagreed but Ladykiller reminded him of how the stars they saw in the sky could be long dead by the time the light reached Earth and when she commented on how she cried for hours after learning that fact, Wonder Man spoke the vocal code to disengage Ladykiller's collar, freeing her. Ladykiller became confused as the collar fell from her neck and Wonder Man commented that perhaps he saw the light before flying off, unaware that the Nobility was meeting with the organization's head, Neal Saroyan himself, to discuss Ladykiller's capture. As Ladykiller escaped into the night, Ms. Marvel berated Wonder Man for letting her loose, all unaware that the masked Ladykiller found her way to a gang hostage situation and defeated the gang, saving the lives of the hostages. While fleeing the scene, Ladykiller was scooped up by Wonder Man, who had tracked her via a subcutaneous tracker and sought to rescue Ladykiller from being killed by a police bullet. When Ladykiller seemed unfazed at the thought of being killed and claimed life had no meaning to someone like herself who routinely killed, Wonder Man refused to believe her statement, noting that she clearly had some degree of care for life since she had just saved several. Ladykiller then claimed she was simply bored but Wonder Man again refused to believe her and the two began discussing why Ladykiller had rescued the hostages, unaware that the Nobility's Lord Thunder had arrived on the police scene and killed the police officer that had shot at Ladykiller.

Ladykiller questioned the reasoning behind Wonder Man's freeing her and noted that the situation reminded her of the old phrase about loving something but letting it go and if it returned, it was yours forever. She then questioned whether that was the case with Wonder Man and whether he let her go because he loved her. Immediately suggesting Wonder Man not answer her, Ladykiller explained how she had kept wondering if that were the case and perhaps Wonder Man's feelings would give her something to live up to. She then revealed that she had saved the hostages because she felt compelled to try to live up to Wonder Man's expectations, not because she cared about the hostage but because she cared about Wonder Man. Having admitted that she only used the hostages as a means to end with Wonder Man, Ladykiller asked if Wonder Man could even fully trust someone who had remorselessly killed in the past. Wonder Man replied by asking Ladykiller to be his date for an upcoming celebration of the anniversary of Captain America joining the Avengers. When his fellow heroes heard of his decision and were shocked that he was ask Ladykiller to be his date, Wonder Man suggested a codename change for Ladykiller to Ladyfair and explained his intentions to introduced Huan to the Avengers as a new superheroine. While Wonder Man asked Ms. Marvel to help Huan with her makeup and dress, the Nobility were discussing Ladykiller's supposed betrayal of the Nobility and Neal Saroyan assured the other Nobility members that Ladykiller turning on the organization was all part of his plan to use Ladykiler to destroy the Avengers without her even realizing it.

(Wonder Man: My Fair Super Hero#5) - A conversation between Beast and Wonder Man regarding Wonder Man's potential feelings for Ladyfair was interrupted when Ms. Marvel brought the newly-costumed and codenamed Ladyfair into the room. A nervous Ladyfair commented that if anyone laughed, she would forget everything they had taught her and just kill them all. Wonder Man and Beast were stunned at how well Ladyfair "cleaned up" and she admitted that she had a lot of help transitioning to her new look. Admitting that she would never understand why Wonder Man had taken such an interest in her and that she hoped it was more than just a simple bet, Ladyfair was kissed by Wonder Man. When Beast jokingly reminded her that he also had a hand in her rehabilitation, Ladyfair told Beast to go away. As the Nobility discussed how Ladyfair would recall her killer instinct and eventually return to Lord Thunder, Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel discussed Ladyfair's future over a game of pool. The conversation was interrupted when Ladyfair entered the room, having added a cape to her costume, and she remarked that she had added the cape for Wonder Man.

Later that evening, Ladyfair accompanied Wonder Man to the Avengers' party and she was introduced to Captain America, who was curious about Wonder Man's rehabilitation project. As the two heroes mingled, Ladyfair met Thor but when her tooth began hurting, she excused herself to side and began hearing mental broadcasts from Neal Saroyan, whom she recognized from the Nobility. Neal explained the secret drug-filled cap on her tooth and the receiver installed in her jaw before ordering her to remove the cap and drop the drug into the punch bowl. Under Neal's mental command, Ladyfair did as instructed and Neal explained that the drug would poison anyone who drank it, killing them within nine hours of ingestion. Asking if Neal had not trusted her to originally kill Ken Flevin, Ladyfair was informed that her assassination job and everything after that was all part of his machinations to kill the Avengers for some of the Nobility's clients. Before Ladyfair could continue with Neal, Wonder Man interrupted her to ask for a dance and the two briefly shared a dance before Ladyfair noticed Captain America pouring a cup of punch. Knowing the punch contained the poison drug, Ladyfair leaped at Captain America and kicked the cup out of his hands. She then dumped over the entire punch bowl, ignoring Neal's orders and surprised all of the heroes present at the party. When Neal ordered her to kill the Avengers, Ladyfair refused, defying Neal's mind control and, as the heroes looked at her with confusion, Neal broadcasted that she would never be the hero Wonder Man wanted her to be and that she would always be nothing but a killer. Again defying Neal's mental commands, Ladyfair pulled a dagger from her boot and exclaimed that Neal was wrong and she would be free. She then stabbed herself in the heart, falling into Wonder Man's arms.

As Ladyfair died, she revealed to Wonder Man that Neal Saroyan was behind the entire scenario, having used his mind control powers as the head of the Nobility organization. Daredevil confirmed to a confused Wonder Man that Ladyfair was telling the truth and when Wonder Man asked why she had committed suicide, Ladyfair explained that by dying on her own terms, she could die without disappointing him. She then asked Wonder Man to remember honor and her before dying in his arms.

Ladyfair's modern OHotMU entry states that her hair is black and it is during her time as Ladyfair but it appeared gray or silver during most of her appearances under the alias of Ladykiller and even in the flashbacks to her childhood days. So either her hair is naturally gray or silver and was dyed black as Ladyfair, or her hair is naturally black and it had been dyed gray or silver at a very young age. Given that the modern OHotMU states her hair as black, I suppose the best solution to the differences in hair color would be that her hair is naturally black and was dyed silver or gray. One might even write off the gray or silver hued hair in the flashbacks to her childhood because the flashbacks were colored with a grayed out, almost sepia-toned color to them.
