Powers/Abilities: Hog-Zilla is incredibly strong (potentially Class 100), very durable and has fast reflexes. He has human-level dexterity in his hands and use of his arms. He is amphibious and can expel atomic flame from his snout at will (or possibly something in his breath combined with his nostrils would ignite with oxygen to create a similar effect). Most of the damage he inflicts is from stomping and kicking. Another attack he uses is to quickly swing his left arm like a windmill as a distraction for his powerful right-fisted punch. He has instinctive intelligence. An ancient beast, he is still susceptible to modern swine flu.

Height: 70'
Weight: Unrevealed
Eyes: Red
Hair: None

History:

(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#8/1 (fb) - BTS) - The exact origins of Hog-Zilla are unclear but he appears to be a giant mutated dinoswine of the type that existed millions of years before the current era of Spider-Ham. In the current day, Hog-Zilla's undersea movements off the coast of Japan caused significant seismic activity.

(Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham I#8/1) - American TV reporter Raymond Bear reported on the earthquakes and oceanographer Jacques Goostreau submerged to investigate, but quickly fled from what he found. This drew international media attention and Daily Beagle newspaper editor J. Jonah Jackal took reporters and Peter Porker (secretly the superhero Spider-Ham) to Japan to gather news stories. They arrived in time to see the giant Hog-Zilla emerge from the sea and begin its rampage, tearing apart a fast food joint for food, kicking away military tanks and roasting soldiers with his fiery breath. While some locals joked, scientists quickly assembled the giant robot Mechano-Hog-Zilla, but Hog-Zilla destroyed it with one punch. Despite having the flu, Porker entered the fray as Spider-Ham. Curious about the new being, Hog-Zilla sniffed Spider-Ham, but unwittingly also inhaled Porker's swine flu germs. The effect was quick and Hog-Zilla fell to the ground sick. Acclaimed Japanese film director Cur-Asawa arrived and desired Hog-Zilla to star in a movie, possibly with a toupee, and led Hog-Zilla away. The local Japanese cleaned up the mess but Jackal wasn't interested in that news.

(Spider-Man Unlimited Infinity Comic#6) - Seeking respite from Spot's multiversal mayhem, Spider-Man of Earth-616 and Spider-Man Earth-1048 teleported into Earth-8311 (possibly New York City/New Yolk City), expecting it to be harmless as a "cartoon" world, but both had their spider sense go off as Hogzilla prepared to stomp on them from behind.

(Spider-Man Unlimited Infinity Comic#7) - The two Spider-Men leapt clear and webbed the monster's feet, but he easily tore free. Hogzilla readied his snout to blast fire in retaliation when Spider-Ham, Iron Mouse and Throg arrived, and distracted the colossal beast. Spider-Ham explained that his dimension's natives could survive Hogzilla's attacks (basically due to his world's bizarre physics), but "fleshy humans" could not. The two Spider-Men quickly fled through another dimensional portal.

Comments: Created by Steve Mellor, Tony Salmons, Joe Albelo, based loosely on the character created by Toho Productions.

Peter Porker identifies Hog-Zilla as a dinoswine called tyrannoswinus rex, "king of the thunder pigs!" Given that Porker is not a paleontologist and in keeping with the original Godzilla's concept (upon which Hog-Zilla is based), Hog-Zilla is perhaps better described as a giant amphibious prehistoric reptilian-like or dinosaurian creature. Hog-Zilla has a navel, so is very unlikely to have hatched from an egg like a reptile.

What's Throg, frog of thunder, doing up against Hogzilla in the Infinity Comic? My guess is that the writer and/or artist wasn't familiar with Earth-8311's version of Thor being Thrr, dog of thunder. So maybe the thunder mantle has been passed on there or maybe Thrr was transformed into a frog; perhaps Throg from Earth-616 (or similar) stopped by. The latter seems unlikely as Spider-Ham was concerned about the two Spider-Men being not native to Earth-8311 and therefore squishable.

Hog-Zilla is a clear homage/parody of the legendary Godzilla, which first appeared in the classic Japanese motion picture Godzilla in 1954 with a later Americanized version in 1956. The movie spawned many sequels and remakes. Godzilla was published by Marvel in 1977 and made a grand return to take on Marvel heroes in 2025, so Hog-Zilla is basically the Earth-8311 version of Earth-616's Godzilla.

Hog-Zilla lost his hyphen with the 2023 Infinity Comic (post-Secret Wars III), gained a few pounds and grew more teeth; maybe he's an adult now.

How about Hogzilla the movie? Well, there was a Hogzilla movie in 2014 that had nothing to do with Marvel. The Hogzilla movie looks to be a low-budget horror film.

CLARIFICATIONS :
Hog-Zilla has no known connections to:

Raymond Bear

Raymond Bear was an American reporter and friend of newspaper editor J. Jonah Jackal. He reported on the unusual seismic activity in Japan that turned out to be coming from the huge creature Hog-Zilla. He maintained reporting throughout the monster's rampage through Tokyo, and kept his dignity in his closing report while locals made funny faces behind him.

Raymond Bear is a clear reference to Raymond Burr, the popular American actor who played the role of a reporter in the 1956 Americanized version of Godzilla.

Cur-Asawa

Cur-Asawa described himself as Japan's greatest film director and appeared after Hog-Zilla's rampage was stopped by illness. Impressed by the creature's presence and power, Cur-Asawa intended to make Hog-Zilla a movie star, but first wanted to clear the monster's complexion and add a toupee.

Cur-Asawa is a clear reference to the legendary Japanese film-maker Akira Kurosawa; however, Kurosawa never touched Godzilla films but his friend Ishiro Honda was the director of the first Godzilla film.

Jacques Gooseteau

The French anthrotoon Jacques Gooseteau was in Japan to investigate the unusual seismic activity just off the coast using his special collapsible submarine called the Collapso. He submerged but quickly reappeared in fright and fled.

Jacques Gooseteau is a clear reference to the great French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and his research ship the Calypso.

Mechano-Hog-Zilla

The Japanese Army constructed a giant metal robot comparable in size and shape to Hog-Zilla in a last ditch effort to stop the monster. It marched toward Hog-Zilla amid the ruined buildings but one punch from the monster destroyed the contraption into a pile of portable electronics. Presumably Mechano-Hog-Zilla was remote controlled and not piloted.

The speed of Mechano-Hog-Zilla's construction should not be surprising given many people in Japan on Earth-8311 used humanoid robots as transport.

Mechano-Hog-Zilla is a parody of the counter-weapon used in several Godzilla films called Mechagodzilla.
