History:
(Marc Spector: Moon Knight#35 (fb) - BTS/Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z HC#10 - Randall Spector) - Former CIA agent Sandahl Swarn and Randall Spector brainwashed an unidentified man with stolen CIA technology from Operation: Cobra into believing he was Randall Spector. The man went through plastic surgery and was manipulated into accepting his false identity through experimental drugs and implanted memories from the real Randall Spector, which drove him insane.

(HULK!#17/2 (fb) - BTS) - "Randall" remembered winning a spelling bee contest when he was nine.

Due to his false memories he believed himself to have been mad for ten years since the murder of a nurse back when he was in hospital after Marc Spector nearly killed him.

He began a murder spree in New York City and was dubbed the Hatchet-Man by the media. It became his routine to buy a hatchet, a pajama top and a mask on the day of the murder from varying stores before his physical workout and then the eventual murder in the evening. Within three weeks he murdered eight nurses with a hatchet after choking them out.

(HULK!#17/2) - As it had become his routine "Randall" bought a hatchet at a sporting goods shop on Columbus Avenue around 10:42 and later at 11:35 a mask at a novelty shop in Times Square. At 12:14 he entered an adult movie theatre and tried on the mask. At 13:30 he tried to buy the top of a pair of striped pajamas at Macy's but was told they only come with the pants, so he bought them as well.

(HULK!#17/2 - BTS) - He ditched the pajama pants on his way back to his rented room.

(HULK!#17/2) - At 14:53 at his room in the Bowery he started his daily three hour workout in his briefs.

At 18:17 he was in an alley near Mount Sinai Hospital wearing his mask and jacket. He took off the jacket and at 18:18 attacked a nurse heading to her car. He choked her out with the pajama top and one minute later killed her with the hatchet. After the kill he scrawled a misspelled message and pinned it on her corpse.

(HULK!#17/2 - BTS) - The serial killings caught the attention of Marc Spector, who believed the killer to be his brother. Though Marc was against it, Marlene Alraune suggested posing as a nurse to lure the Hatchet-Man into a trap.

(HULK!#17/2) - "Randall" ended his daily workout and got ready for the next murder. He looked at the articles on his murders and pinned the article on the newest one next to the others. He put on his pants and the mask, took the hatchet and went to Central Park to find his tenth victim while remembering how Marc Spector had nearly killed Randall, whom he believed himself to be. Hatchet-Man hid in an alley until Marlene Alraune, in a nurse outfit borrowed from a friend, passed by. He lunged at her, but Marlene avoided the attack and ran away screaming for help from Moon Knight. Hatchet-Man caught up with her and tackled her to the ground. He then used her as a shield against the police, who accidentally hit Marlene before Moon Knight knocked them out. Hatchet-Man put Marlene over his shoulder and ran with her to Central Park, but Moon Knight was right behind him. Hatchet-Man tumbled over when Moon Knight threw his truncheon right between his ankles, but Hatchet-Man was up again a moment later. Hatchet-Man, unaware that Moon Knight was Marc Spector, told Moon Knight that he would keep murdering nurses until he found Marc Spector. He hit Marlene in the back with the hatchet and ran off while Moon Knight vowed to hunt his supposed brother down.

(HULK!#18/2) - Hatchet-Man was gone before the police arrived. Moon Knight told them to call an ambulance for Marlene, who was still alive, and then went after Hatchet-Man. He ran through the park and encountered a homeless man, whom he murdered. He then decided to hide and ambush Moon Knight, which actually kind of worked though he hurled Moon Knight away because he was too strong. Hatchet-Man fled again and soon encountered Nurse's aide Mary Beddoe walking through Central Park on her way home. He knocked her out and flung her over his shoulder and then continued fleeing from Moon Knight with his next supposed victim. Hatchet-Man made it to a carousel at the playground and decided on another surprise attack on Moon Knight. He hit Moon Knight in the chest with the hatchet when the hero caught up to him and then continued on with Beddoe over his shoulder. Moon Knight wasn't done and caught up with Hatchet-Man again. Mary Beddoe awakened with Hatchet-Man's arm around her neck. Hatchet-Man pushed Mary away because she was only slowing him down and he got hit by one of Moon Knight's crescent darts. He ran away with Moon Knight close behind him and Moon Knight revealed that he was actually Marc Spector. Hatchet-Man jumped Moon Knight to finally gain his revenge, but was easily tossed to the ground. Hatchet-Man took another leap, but Moon Knight ducked and Hatchet-Man hit the tree Randall nearly died under ten years earlier. One of the branches broke and Hatchet-Man got impaled on it and died at 2:43 in the morning. Hatchet-Man's mask and hatchet fell into a puddle below while Moon Knight mourned the death of his supposed brother.

Comments: Created by Doug Moench, Bill Sienkiewicz & Klaus Janson.

The Hatchet-Man presumably was of similar height and weight as the real Randall Spector.

Hatchet-Man became a fake Randall Spector when Terry Kavanagh decided to bring back Marc's brother as a villain in Marc Spector: Moon Knight. Kudos to him for actually giving an explanation.
