(Doctor Strange II#2) - Inside the White Queen's castle Captain Midnight had some tea with the other Knights of the Rostrum. After three cups he was already tuckered out and Spider-Man shot some web in his face and mockingly pointed out to Namor that the Captain was already sliding under the table again.

This profile is more about the comments.

The character seen in Doctor Strange was not the real Captain Midnight, but he was based on the character.

Captain Midnight (Captain Jim Albright) was originally a radio serial character created in 1938 and sponsored by the Skelly Oil Company. Over the years the character became the star of serial films, television shows, newspaper strips and comic books. Check Wikipedia for the whole history of the character.

He has a long comic history starting with adventures in Dell Comics' The Funnies #57, his first ongoing title published by Fawcett Publications from 1942 to 1948 up to his most recent ongoing title published by Dark Horse Comics from 2013 to 2015.

He was heavily sponsored by my favorite non-alcoholic beverage Ovaltine (actual name Ovomaltine; thanks go to chemist Albert Wander from Switzerland) since 1940 and they were also the reason why Marvel eventually published a coloring book featuring him.

Comments by Quiof Thrul:
In 1977, Marvel published a coloring book starring the radio character Captain Midnight: Ovaltine presents the Captain Midnight Action Book, written by Scott Eldman and illustrated by Don Perlin.

According Larry Zdeb on Facebook: A one-shot 128-page comic produced by Marvel Comics and Ovaltine. Art by Don Perlin, this Captain Midnight wears a predominantly yellow outfit trimmed in red.

The first page gives credit to the past, "Captain Midnight. A heroic flying ace who helped inspire America to victory in World War 2! Today, the world still needs inspiration as spur toward other goals, in this case, physical fitness! Ovaltine conceived this new concept in children's books to teach youngsters how to improve their mental and physical health through the good clean fun of action sports. This is a rules guidebook, a sports and activities coloring book and an illustrated reference work rolled into one volume. Ovaltine, a company concerned with proper nutrition and good health is proud to present the Captain Midnight Action Book, which is intended to be educational and fun. We hope that parents as well as children will read this book for learning and enjoyment as we bring back the glorious days of Captain Midnight!"
