History:
(Tex Taylor I#4 (fb)) - Blind Charlie was a blind prospector who went prospecting with his seeying-eye dog Wolf. He happened to find gold on one of his strikes but, being blind, couldn't register his claim because he couldn't describe the location. Charlie brought some nuggets of gold into Cactustown and showed them to Frank, who ran the town saloon. Frank began scheming with Pete Dalton of the Daltong Gang to find the location of Blind Charlie's strike and claim the gold by abducting Wolf, knowing the dog could lead them to the strike.
Dalton's gang abducted Wolf and tried to whip him into submission; Wolf escaped but had a broken leg; Blind Charlie brought him to Doc Carter, who set the broken leg.
(Tex Taylor I#4) - After driving off Doc Carter, Pete and his men kidnapped Blind Charlie and Wolf. Tying Wolf to his horse, Pete forced the dog to lead him to the strike, while Blind Charlie was tied to his own horse. Dalton helped urge Wolf onward by making Charlie call out commands to Wolf. However, Wolf turned away from the actual location of the strike and instead led Pete Dalton and his men to barren ground. Just as Dalton realized he'd been tricked, Doc Carter rode up with the roving gunfighter Tex Taylor, who had already killed many of Pete's men in Cactustown. Tex Taylor killed Pete's men and Wolf leaped upon Pete and slew him.
With the threat of Pete Dalton dealt with, Blind Charlie arranged for Wolf to lead him back to his strike with Doc Carter and Tex Taylor present so he could finally register his claim and enjoy a peaceful retirement with Wolf.

Doc Carter was a physician in Cactustown and friend of Blind Charlie. When Pete Dalton's men beat Wolf, Blind Charlie brought Wolf to Doc Carter to have his leg set. Angry at him for helping Blind Charlie, the Dalton gang attacked Carter, beat him unconscious, then spooked his horse in an attempt to make it run over a cliff to his death. Tex Taylor wandered by and rescued Carter before he went over the cliff. Carter told Tex about Blind Charlie and the Daltons and he offered to help. Carter rode with Tex as he slew most of Pete Dalton's gang and rescued Blind Charlie.

Frank owned the saloon in Cactustown and was a member of Pete Dalton's gang. After seeing the gold Blind Charlie had found, Frank began scheming with Pete Dalton to find the location of Charlie's strike by kidnapping his dog Wolf and forcing him to show them the spot. It's not clear whether Frank was one of the members of the Dalton Gang whom Tex Taylor slew.

Wolf was Blind Charlie's seeing-eye dog and best friend. Because Wolf was with Blind Charlie when he made his gold strike, Frank and Pete Dalton believed they could steal the strike by forcing Wolf to lead them to the spot. On one occasion they tried to whip Wolf into submission; Wolf fought back and escaped but broke one of his legs. Doc Carter helped set the leg. Pete Dalton later captured Wolf again and tied him to his horse then forced Blind Charlie to issue orders to Wolf to lead the Dalton Gang to the strike, but instead Wolf led Dalton to barren ground. Tex Taylor came to Blind Charlie's rescue and slew most of the Dalton Gang, then Wolf leaped upon Pete and slew him. Blind Charlie planned to register his claim so he and Wolf could retire in peace.
