History:

(Dazzler I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Bo Barrigan made a name for himself as a racketeer, operating in the New York harbor area for years while claiming he was a legitimate business man and head of his own cement company.

(Dazzler I#5 (fb) ) - Twenty years ago, Barrigan survived an attempt on his life by rival mobsters who ran him over with a car. Frank Cartelli and his young son Joey came to his aid, but Frank was gunned down for trying to help him. Barrigan was grateful to the Cartelli family, offering Frank's widow Anita financial assistance, which she declined because she wanted nothing to do with criminals.

(Dazzler I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Years later, Barrigan welcomed Frank's now teenage son Joey into his organization. The boy quickly rose through the ranks, becoming his trusted right hand man. Barrigan regarded Cartelli as the son he never had.

(Dazzler I#5 (fb) - BTS) - In reality, Cartelli hated crime and was determined to bring Barrigan and his cohorts down by working on the inside against them. After finding a belt that gave him super powers, Cartelli adopted the costumed identity of the Blue Shield and soon made a name for himself as a small-time superhero on a private crusade against organized crime.

(Dazzler I#5 - BTS) - Through illegal ways, Barrigan acquired the prototype of a new government superweapon: a multi-purpose attack vehicle called the Terror Tank. Barrigan assumed it had sufficient firepower to rid his organization of the Blue Shield once and for all.

(Dazzler I#5) - (fb) - BTS) - Barrigan familiarized himself with the complex controls of the Terror Tank.

(Dazzler I#5) - Barrigan showed Cartelli and his underlings the designs of the Terror Tank, proudly boasting about its potential to defeat Blue Shield. He took his men to the warehouse where he stored the vehicle to show it off, all except for Cartelli who he trusted to run operations in his absence. A little while later, one of Barrigan's men brought in Alison Blaire who had been seen snooping around the warehouse looking for Cartelli to give him a message from his gravely ill mother. Barrigan didn't believe a word of that story and slapped her around until she got a chance to turn on her radio and use her lightpowers.

(Dazzler I#5 - BTS) - Overhearing the fight, Cartelli quickly joined the fray as Blue Shield in hopes of saving Blaire who he recognized from the office.

(Dazzler I#5) - Blue Shield made short work of Barrigan's mobsters, but couldn't prevent Barrigan from entering and activating the Terror Tank. Barrigan used the tank's weapons to stun the Blue Shield but he was distracted by Dazzler who briefly blinded the automaton's advanced sensors with a light burst. Dazzler led the tank to the nearby docks, tricking Barrigan into driving off a pier. Blue Shield dove in to save the criminal who he considered a second father.

(Dazzler I#5 - BTS) - Barrigan was handed over to the police.

(Punisher I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Somehow escaping justice, Barrigan was allowed to continue his criminal activities.

(Punisher I#2 - BTS) - When the Kingpin was presumed dead at the hand of the Punisher, a group called the Trust decided to hire hitman Nolo Contendre to take out a number of notable gangsters and mob leaders, including Bo Barrigan.

(Punisher I#2) - Nolo Contendre caught up with Barrigan in the men's room of New York's City Hall, drowning the mobster in the sink just as he was getting ready to testify in a palimony suit.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Bo Barrigan should not be confused with

Terror Tank

The Terror Tank was the prototype of an experimental, highly advanced one person tank designed by the United States army. It fell in the hands of mobster Bo Barrigan who wanted to use the vehicle to take out his enemy Blue Shield. Barrigan familiarized himself with the controls of the Tank and its weapon systems which included a flamethrower, a cannon and several guns. The tank also had an array of scanners, including super sensitive heat seeking cameras that can home in on everybody. Barrigan piloted the Terror Tank in a fight against Blue Shield and Dazzler. The tank's cannon was enough to daze Blue Shield, but Dazzler managed to short out all of its visual scanners with a light burst. Switching to the heat seeking cameras, Barrigan continued to attack her, but he didn't realize she was leading him towards the docks, tricking him into driving the Terror Tank off the pier. The vehicle wasn't designed to be amphibious, it short circuited and quickly sank to the bottom.
