MEMBERSHIP: Duplicates of Marvel Boy (Robert Grayson), Ree, the Stygian Starbender, and Trantra

AFFILIATIONS: Thanos (creator/master)

ENEMIES: Quasar (Wendell Vaughn)

FIRST APPEARANCE: Quasar#26 (September, 1991)

HISTORY: (Quasar#26) - When the mad titan Thanos obtained the Infinity Gauntlet and became virtually omnipotent, he created four duplicates of the Quantum Bands, as well as four duplicates of previous wearers of the Bands (their bodies were formed from the corpse of Eon).  Their memories and personalities were recreated from the remnants of Eon's mind.  All of them but Marvel Boy were former Protectors of the Universe.

(Quasar#26, 27) - Thanos created these Quantum Banders as an insult to his old enemy Eon, as well as to battle Quasar in an attempt to prevent him from delivering Eon's child Epoch.  Thanos instilled within his creations a hatred for Quasar, and promised them that whoever slew him would gain the honor of the becoming the Protector of the Universe for the rest of time.

The Banders willingly and viciously attacked Quasar.  Quasar quickly overpowered and knocked out the Marvel Boy duplicate, who was based on a wearer relatively naive to the full power of the Bands. Quasar had a much more difficult time with the other three, but he managed to use his own Bands to forcibly overload the Bands of imposters, causing explosions that destroyed them.

Comments: Created by Mark Gruenwald and Dave Hoover.

The only Quantum Bander to survive was the Marvel Boy duplicate, who went on to become the Blue Marvel.
