JAGRFELM

Real Name: Jagrfelm

Identity/Class: Extra-dimensional (Asgard) Dark Elf

Occupation: Blacksmith, hermit

Group Membership: None

Affiliations: Balder, Odin

Enemies: Balder, Malekith, Odin, he hated pretty much every single living being

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: Devourer of Men

Base of Operations: Svartalfheim, land of the dark elves

First Appearance: Thor II#22 (April, 2000)

Powers/Abilities: Jagrfelm probably has advanced strength and durability, and is an excellent blacksmith, able to creating armors and weapons that are capable of standing up to almost inconceivable punishment. Because he is so unsatisfied with his own life, he does not fear death at all. He may have been able to control the forest of Svartalfheim, as the plants were seen coming to life and attacking his enemy.

History:
(Thor II#22 (fb) - BTS) - Jagrfelm is a Dark Elf, and has always been shunned by others due to his incredible ugliness, making him a very bitter and angry individual. He did, however, gain a reputation as an amazing blacksmith.

(Thor II#24 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Jagrfelm found the Casket of Ancient Winters.

(Thor II#22) - When Thanos threatened the universe with a newfound source of incredible power, Odin sent Balder to find Jagrfelm so that the Dark Elf  may construct armor and  weapons for Thor, so that Thor may better stand up to Thanos' might. Balder wandered into Svartalfheim, land of the Dark Elves, to find Jagrfelm. However, Jagrfelm discovered Balder intruding on his land, and captured him.

(Thor II#23) - Jagrfelm tied up Balder and prepared to kill and eat him. Balder tried in vain to convince Jagrfelm to release and listen to him, but Jagrfelm did not fear Odin or any of Balder's threats. Eventually, Balder told Jagrfelm that if he assisted Odin, Odin would grant him any reward he desired. Jagrfelm was intrigued by this and agreed.

(Thor II#24) - Balder brought Jagrfelm before Odin. Jagrfelm agreed to construct weapons for Thor, on the condition that first Odin would grant him mastery of an item he held in a sack, which unbeknownst to everyone else, was the Casket of Ancient Winters. Odin agreed, and infused the Casket with even more energy than it already had. Jagrfelm then honored his end of the deal and set about creating weapons for Thor.

(Thor II#25) - Jagrfelm completed his weapons and armor and brought them to Odin.

(Thor II#28) - Jagrfelm boasted to himself that now that he was the master of the Casket of Ancient Winters, he would soon attain everything he could possibly desire, and he would no longer be shunned for his ugliness.

(Thor II#29) - Jagrfelm continued to gloat to himself, but was attacked by Malekith and his forces. Jagrfelm fought back, but his might was nothing against such an overwhelming onslaught, and before long, the forces of Malekith impaled Jagrfelm with a spear and took the Casket of Ancient Winters from him. Malekith then killed Jagrfelm with an energy blast.

I assume Jagrfelm went to Hel after his death and perished for good during the Ragnarok in Thor II#85.
