Powers/Abilities: Incinerators are robots, composed of easily-smashed materials. They can release flames from their bodies to incinerate lifeforms they encounter. The Incinerators briefly possessed a TVA replicator which could create 87% effective duplicates of themselves at a rapid pace.

History: (Avengers Annual#22/2 (fb, BTS))- The Incinerators were originally created by the Time Variance Authority to help keep the timelines clean, destroying time debris. However, they came to believe in the destruction of the entire space/time continuum, and broke away from the TVA to seek that goal. They were often opposed by Professor Justin Alphonse Gamble, a rogue member of the TVA.

(Power Man and Iron Fist#79)- The Incinerators traveled back to the modern era, where Professor Gamble had written a popular Broadway show about his adventures in which the Incinerators were used as villains called "Dredlox." The Incinerators took advantage of the play to hide in plain sight in New York, and captured Bob Diamond, the actor portraying Gamble on stage, believing him to the real Professor Gamble, and needing him to fix their time platform so that they could leave that era.

Diamond's friends Luke Cage and Iron Fist became involved, and confronted the Incinerators backstage at the theatre. The Heroes For Hire managed to trick the Incinerators into attacking each other by hiding behind the toy Dredlox from the stage production and sneaking into their midst. After meeting up with the real Professor Gamble, Cage and Iron Fist stormed the Incinerators' base to divert the Incinerators' attention while Gamble activated his temporal polarization destabilizer to send them back to their own era. The Incinerators' own time platform instantly sent them back to their own time.

(Avengers Annual#22/2 (fb))- At a later point, the Incinerators snuck a miniaturized Incinerator inside of Gamble's time machine with a TVA replicator. The time machine was soon overrun by Incinerators who took Gamble hostage, and pried from his mind the weapon they needed to destroy time-- a Time Incinerator. Learning they needed the Starstone to create it, they set the time machine back to the age of Camelot.

(Avengers Annual#22/2)- The Incinerators landed the time machine in Camelot shortly after the Starstone fell to earth, and brought it aboard the time machine. However, they were seen by Terminatrix and the Anachronauts, who had become aware of the danger the Incinerators posed. After setting Gamble free, the Anachronauts held the Incinerators off long enough for Gamble to recover his remote control and use it to expel all of the Incinerators from the time machine.

Comments: Created by Jo Duffy, Kerry Gammill and Ricardo Villamonte.

The Incinerators were, of course, based on the Daleks created by Terry Nation on the BBC's Dr. Who. At least the Incinerators have rather practical tank treads-- the Daleks have been ribbed about their inability to climb stairs for years.
