He was also a reasonably talented athlete, able to swing from rooftops using his ever-present hunk 'o rope, and able to tightrope-walk at great heights. He was skilled at espionage, especially stealth.

History:
(SHIELD#15) - HYDRA hired Bull's Eye to kill Nick Fury, but it was critical that this occurred at a specific time, because they wanted to coincide Fury's death with HYDRA's all-out assault on SHIELD. So Bull's Eye tailed Fury all day until they were ready. As soon as he was given the order, he pulled out his special rifle and shot Fury in the back of the head, killing him while he was at a concert with Laura Brown.

Then the HYDRA leader changed his mind, and decided not to attack SHIELD at that time, because that was just what they would expect. HYDRA left Bull's Eye high and dry as SHIELD agents began to swarm the area. Bull's Eye fired at the SHIELD agents who were chasing him and succeeded in taking out quite a few, but then Dum Dum Dugan managed to nail him. A bullet to the chest took him out for good.

Comments: Created by Gary Friedrich and Herb Trimpe.

As confirmed in the Marvel Comics Index#6: Heroes from Strange Tales, it was just an LMD (Life Model Decoy, it's a SHIELD thang) version of Fury that Bull's Eye shot. The real Nick showed up again in Avengers I#72, none the worse for wear. In that issue, Nick revealed that he pulled the switch on his date during the rock festival; only Dugan knew, and he had to cover for Fury.
Actually, if I were writing the stories, I'd reveal that the real Fury actually was killed at some point. Maybe not in this issue, but maybe during that Double Edge crossover, by the Punisher, I think. Instead, there are a limitless number of LMDs that have been posing as him since his actual death. They've got that going on in Earth X. The original is dead, but LMD versions just keep popping up.

What a goofball of a character, easily forgotten with the much better Bullseye, made legend by Frank Miller. The only redeeming feature is him getting shot through the bullseye, hinting perhaps that wearing a target on your chest is not such a good idea.

Oh yeah, the HYDRA guy who gave him his orders: Number Two.
Who...does...Number Two...work...for!?

NOTE: On the cover, there are some miscoloring errors. His gloves, boots, and shorts should be blue (the same color as his mask). His legs and arms (sleeves) seem to be a dark shade orange. His Bull's Eue should be alternating red and white, with red on the outside as well as in the center. The correct colors are pictured on the lower left image, where he is being shot.

Bull's Eye has an entry in Marvel Legacy: The 1960s Handbook.
