Powers/Abilities: Black Death has the mutant ability to take control of a person’s actions and tell them what to do. After being exposed to an experimental
biological weapon, Black Death became the carrier for the weapon and must now wear an exo-skeleton to keep the weapon in check.
History: (X-Men Unlimited#28)- Ivan Kivelki was a scientist working on
biological warfare on a research station on Rebirth Island where a Russian
general revealed to him that the government knew he was a mutant and exposed
him to some toxic gas. Apparently his mutant nature allowed him to absorb the
toxins and using his power of suggestion he forced his fellow scientists on
Rebirth Island to make a containment suit to keep the toxins in check. When
Darkstar came to check out the island she was taken over by Black Death and
forced to find the Beast and bring him there. When the Beast arrived Black
Death explained he wanted the Beast to help him develop a cure and if he didn’t
he would use his powers to force the Beast’s friends to kill themselves until
they were all dead and Black Death would then kill Beast. Beast agreed to help
but instead of making a cure he created a stun gun and when the rest of the
X-Men broke free, Beast knocked Black Death out with the stun gun. Darkstar
then took Black Death to Moscow to answer for his crimes, though they would
still continue to seek a cure for his condition.
