Known Relatives: None
Base of Operations: New York City; Olympia, Greece
First Appearance: New Eternals#1 (February, 2000)
Powers/Abilities: Aurelle is a member of the Eternals race, and posssess all the conventional abilities of an Eternal. She can manipulate all forms of matter and energy, including the atoms of her own body, granting herself virtual immortality; she can teleport; manipulate gravitons in order to fly; communicate telepathically; and project energy from her body. She is especially fond of using her power to generate flashes of light to blind opponents.
History: Aurelle is an Eternal, whose background is unknown. Until recent times, she had not seen her fellow Eternal Ikaris for 200 years. She seems to spend most of her time living among humans, and enjoys going to clubs.
(New Eternals#1)- Aurelle was at a club in New York City in human guise, when she received a summons to Olympia. She quickly shifted forms, dazzling the club-goers as she departed.
In Olympia, she was at hand when the Eternal Virako was restored to life as a result of tampering by Apocalypse. Virako disagreed with his son Ikaris' decision to assist the Deviants, who had been mutated by Apocalypse, but Aurelle was among those who sided with Ikaris, joining him at San Francisco to stand against their one-time ally Karkas, now mutated into a giant.
Aurelle assited her allies during the fight, and at one point, blinded Karkas to enable Ransak an opportunity to evade him. When Karkas was defeated, Aurelle turned Ikaris' attention towards the human reporters who had witnessed their battle, and Ikaris decided to present themselves to the humans as super-heroes called "the New Breed". In this guise, Aurelle took the alias "Sparx".
Comments: Created by Karl Bollers, Mike Higgins and Joe Bennett.
My friend Al B. Harper, who co-owns Sersi's Loft with me, theorized that Aurelle might be the sister of Sprite, given her shimmering head. His other theory is that Aurelle is Sprite himself, wearing a female form, which is why she hadn't "seen" Ikaris in 200 years, despite the many Uni-Minds that have been held in recent years. Me, I just think he's nuts.
