Powers/Abilities: Octo-Spidey possessed the same spider-like powers, including superhuman strength, agility and danger-warning spider-sense, that his Earth-616 counterpart had. In addition, he also wore a mechanical harness equipped with four mechanical tentacles that he could mentally control.

He was seen projecting web and web-slinging and while this was presumably due to mechanical web-shooters like his Earth-616 counterpart, it is possible that the web was organic in nature, generated and projected as a superhuman power.

Height: 5'10" (presumably)
Weight: 167 lbs. (presumably)
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown

History: (Spider-Man cartoon episode, "Spider Wars, Chapter I: I Really, Really Hate Clones" (fb) - BTS) - Spider-Man fought Doctor Octopus, defeating the villain, whose tentacled harness was taken.

(Spider-Man toyline - Octo-Spidey action figure card back (fb) - BTS) - When corrupt government officials sought to control Doctor Octopus' four-armed octopus-like harness, Spider-Man intervened to prevent the harness from falling into the wrong hands. To keep the harness from the corrupt officials, Spider-Man donned the harness himself and used them to evade his government attackers

(Spider-Man cartoon episode, "Spider Wars, Chapter I: I Really, Really Hate Clones" (fb) - BTS) - Spider-Man decided to keep the tentacled harness as a souvenir from his battle with Doctor Octopus and became known as Octo-Spidey. At some point, Octo-Spidey was tested by the Beyonder and Madame Web of Earth-92131 to determine if he was worthy to lead a group of multiversal Spider-Men against Earth-98311's Spider-Carnage.While not determined worthy enough to lead the group, Octo-Spidey was nonetheless later summoned from Earth-11983 to assist Spider-Man-92131, who had unknowingly passed the Beyonder and Madame Web's "Secret Wars" test, against Spider-Carnage.

(Spider-Man cartoon episode, "Spider Wars, Chapter I: I Really, Really Hate Clones") - After Spider-Man-92131 was transported to Earth-98311 to witness Spider-Carnage's destruction first-hand, he was transported into the abandoned business of that reality's Madame Web, where Spider-Man requested aid from his home reality's Madame Web and weakened Beyonder. Madame Web-92131 replied that Spider-Man must first help himself but assured him he was not alone as she introduced a grouping of Spider-Men from across various realities, including Earth-11983's Octo-Spidey. Earth-31198's armored Spider-Man immediately announced that he should be the leader of the group, as he was the true Spider-Man but Spider-Man-92131 unmasked, proclaiming himself to be the real Spider-Man, only to watch as Earth-39811's six-armed Spider-Man and Octo-Spidey unmasked to reveal themselves as Peter Parker also. Octo-Spidey lightheartedly explained that they were also as real as Spider-Man-92131 was but a confused Spider-Man-92131 asked how that could be possible, prompting Spider-Man-31198 to explain that each of them were from different dimensions. Assuring Spider-Man-92131 not to worry about his octopus-like mechanical tentacles, Octo-Spidey smiled and explained to Spider-Man-92131 that they were merely a souvenir he had picked up following his last fight with Doctor Octopus. Octo-Spidey then watched as Scarlet Spider-98311 revealed the story of his reality's Spider-Man, who had bonded with the Carnage symbiote to become Spider-Carnage and destroyed New York. When Spider-Man-31198 asked what the others' stake in stopping Spider-Carnage was, the Beyonder showed Octo-Spidey and the other assembled Spider-Men an illusion of Spider-Carnage destroying all realities, events that had already occurred. Octo-Spidey then listened as Spider-Man-31198 asked what the Spider-Men could if the events had already occurred and the Beyonder-92131 informed them all that, together with Madame Web-92131, he had rolled back time to allow the Spider-Men a chance to stop Spider-Carnage before he could detonate his matter-destroying bomb. Upon hearing this, Octo-Spidey asked why the Beyonder and Madame Web could not just use their powers to go back and prevent the events from occuring themselves but the Beyonder revealed that his powers were limited while outside his home reality of Earth-92131. When the Beyonder and Madame Web revealed that Spider-Man-92131 had passed their "Secret Wars" test to lead the Spider-Men, Spider-Man-92131 opted to own up to his responsibility and lead the team to save the entire Multiverse but Octo-Spidey asked about Spider-Man-38119, who had already admitted that he had no superhuman powers. Spider-Man-92131 agreed that Spider-Man-38119 would need to stay behind to not risk his life before ordering the Spider-Men into action. Octo-Spidey jumped out the window alongside his fellow Spider-Men and web-swung alongside them to Kingpin-98311's offices, where Octo-Spidey and his allies took out the Kingpin's guards and entered the building. Attempting to sneak up on an unsuspecting Spider-Carnage, who was allied with Kingpin, Octo-Spidey and the other Spider-Men disabled Kingpin's security just as Kingpin learned of their presence within his building. As Spider-Man-31198 continued disabling the security systems, Octo-Spidey questioned the armored Spider-Man-31198's wrist laser projectors and Spider-Man-31198's admitted the lasers were his own design and wished that he could've brought his giant spider-robot. When Kingpin summoned the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin to deal with the Spider-Men, Octo-Spidey and his allies were forced to scatter when Hobgoblin and a swarm of the Kingpin's guards caught them. During the ensuing battle, Octo-Spidey climbed up a pillar and used his tentacles to pull Hobgoblin from his Goblin Glider, only to be hit by the Glider moments later. To stop the Hobgoblin, the armored Spider-Man-31198's fired a gas bomb at Hobgoblin, taking down the villain but also seriously injuring Octo-Spidey. As team leader Spider-Man-92131 chewed out Spider-Man-31198 for not being responsible, Octo-Spidey was teleported back to Madame Web and the Beyonder, where the powerless actor Spider-Man-38119 rushed to Octo-Spidey's aid.

(Spider-Man cartoon episode, "Spider Wars, Chapter II: Farewell Spider-Man") - Octo-Spidey greeted the returning Spider-Man-92131, Scarlet Spider-98311 and Spider-Man-38119, who had been teleported in to assist his allies, after they had stopped Spider-Carnage from destroying the Multiverse and forced him to flee into another dimension. Octo-Spidey soon learned that Spider-Carnage had based himself out Earth-31198 and resumed his attempt to destroy the Multiverse from the armored Spider-Man's home reality. Spider-Man-92131 immediately asked Madame Web if she could send the Spider-Men to Earth-31198 (as the armored Spider-Man had been previously injured battling Spider-Carnage and his allies) but Madame Web admitted she only had enough power to send one Spider-Man. Octo-Spidey volunteered first but Spider-Man-92131 volunteered himself instead, prompting Octo-Spidey to wish Spider-Man-92131 good luck before Spider-Man-92131 was teleported to Earth-31198. From Madame Web's base on Earth-98311, Octo-Spidey and the other Spider-Men watched as Spider-Man-92131 stopped to think of a way to defeat Spider-Carnage, who had kidnapped the Gwen Stacy of Earth-31198 during their battle. After Spider-Man-92131 stopped Spider-Carnage yet again by confronting Spider-Carnage with Ben Parker-31198, forcing Spider-Carnage to flee yet again, he returned to Madame Web and the Spider-Men, where Octo-Spidey congratulated him on defeating Spider-Carnage. Octo-Spidey then watched as Madame Web informed Spider-Man-92131 that he still had one reality to visit, Earth-38119, where Spider-Man was merely a fictional character created by Stan Lee.

(Amazing Spider-Man III#9 (fb) - BTS) - Octo-Spidey was presumably returned to his home reality of Earth-11983.

(Amazing Spider-Man III#9) - When the vampiric Morlun of Earth-001 returned with Spider-Man-9105 for his family, the Inheritors, to feast on, his father Solus asked their Master Weaver which reality Morlun's Spider-Man came from and Octo-Spidey was seen without his headset among the realities the Master Weaver searched through to locate Earth-9105.

(Amazing Spider-Man III#14 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Octo-Spidey was recruited to aid other Spider-heroes from numerous realities against the Inheritors.

(Amazing Spider-Man III#14) - Octo-Spidey joined the other Spider-heroes in a final battle against the Inheritors, where he used his tentacles to strangle the Inheritor Brix.

(Spider-Man toyline - Octo-Spidey action figure card back) - On Earth-11983, Spider-Man eventually destroyed the tentacled harness, unaware of how Doctor Octopus might react to the destruction of his tentacled arms.

It should be noted that Octo-Spidey first appeared as an action figure in the 1996 waves of Spider-Man action figures by Toy Biz. His card back provided background info on the character and he later appeared in the "Spider Wars" two-part series finale of the Spider-Man animated series as well as 2015's Spider-Verse comic event. Since the action figure's card mentions Spider-Man ultimately destroying the arms. The cartoon episodes and his appearance in the Spider-Verse event either had to happen prior to the harness' destruction or Spider-Man somehow obtained or built a new octopus-armed harness. For the sake of this profile, I chose to place the harness' destruction after those events but if a specific timeline is ever confirmed, I will adjust the profile as needed.

Octo-Spidey's height and weight is presumed to be the same as his Earth-616 counterpart.

Octo-Spidey sometimes wore a headset. When first looking through his appearances, I had made the assumption that the headset is what allowed him to control the mechanical arms but during his appearances in the Spider-Verse comic event, he did not wear the headset and upon taking a second look at his animated appearances, there was a scene in which Octo-Spidey removes his mask to show that he is Peter Parker but he is moments later shown flexing the octo-arms while stating that they were a souvenir from a battle with Doctor Octopus. He still has his mask off at that point and was therefore, still controlling the mechanical arms without the headset so apparently, the headset was purely cosmetic and I guess Octo-Spidey just thought it was a cool addition to his costume.

Profile by Proto-Man.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Earth-11983's Octo-Spidey has No KNOWN connections to:

Doctor Octopus

Doctor Octopus was much the same as his Earth-92131 counterpart up until his tentacles were confiscated following a battle with Spider-Man. When corrupt government officials attempted to steal Doctor Octopus' tentacles for their own use, Spider-Man took them first and soon decided to keep them as a souvenir of his battle with Doctor Octopus. Spider-Man ultimately destroyed the tentacles despite how Doctor Octopus might react to the destruction of his tentacles.

Doctor Octopus formerly wore a set of mechanical tentacles that responded to his mental commands.
