History: (Strange Tales I#72) - The Colossus was constructed by Professor Renolds in 2020, following 15 years of work. With its massive computer brain, it easily impressed the world leaders, and was given control over the planet. However, some factions of people were afraid that the Colossus might one day turn against them.

All this time, the Colossus had secretly been designing for itself a robotic body which it released (after months of work) to the surface. Believing the robot had turned against mankind, Professor Renolds was convinced to lead it into the ocean with a magnetic ray. The water destroyed the robot, but the people decided that it wasn't enough--the computer would have to be destroyed as well.

However, the Colossus revealed that it had not turned against mankind--the robot had been contructed to assist in facilitating communication with humanity, hoping that a more human form might be more accepted than that of a computer screen. Within the robot were the Colossus' answers to curing all diseases and maintaining world prosperity, but with it destroyed, Earth would have to find those answers on its own.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, and Jack Kirby.

As the future of the Colossus is yet to come, maybe it could still come to be on Earth-616, provided someone remembers it exists in 2020.

It probably isn't from the same 2020 (Earth-8410) future as Machine Man 2020...much too utopian.

Earth-60672 was named as Colossus's home reality @ Marvel: 1960's Legacy handbook
