History: (Spectacular Spider-Man II#170 (fb))- The Arcane Order of the Night are an occult society who, in the late 19th century, met in the manor home of Ambrose Carpathian, to perform mystical rites. They came into possession of a box containing a carnivorous insect swarm, which remained sealed up inside of Carpathian's manor until recent times, when the super-hero Spider-Man was tricked into releasing it by the Space Phantom. It was finally flung into space by Thor.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#350)- In recent times, Ambrose Carpathian's descendent Andre Carpathian led the Arcane Order of the Night in an attempt to bring the swarm back to earth, using a device empowered by the Dragon's Egg, a precious Latverian jewel stolen by the Black Fox. The Black Fox set after the Arcane Order of the Night to retrieve the jewel, in order to appease Dr. Doom. He was assisted by Dr. Doom himself, and by Spider-Man. Ultimately, the Dragon's Egg was reclaimed by Dr. Doom, and the Arcane Order of the Night's plans were thwarted.
